standard RJ-45 connectors will work fine with the neutrik adapters. their prefab cables are totally over priced and designed for industrial/outdoor use. if you really want to use them get a 15 meter (or longer) cable and cut it in half to make two cables.
Mmmyeah, I think I’ll just go with the cheaper option. As long as I know that standard cat5 cables are compatible with that neutrik jack. I mean, it’s not like I’m going to be playing outside in the rain.
The only question I have left is if there’s any discernible difference between a cat5 and cat5e cable.
Hmmm I’ll be interested in checking out this USB cable out when available, not sure if there’s USB-B option…probably be expensive as hell, especially considering I currently use 15ft USB-B cable…that I bought for $2 on Monoprice!
All my NAUSB connectors are feeling a little loose with a standard USB-B cable, but no connection issues.
This is from Neutrik’s catalog

Glad I found this thread again. Here is what I plan to use once my custom case arrives:

Will make them nice and clean.
As I’m quickly learning out, trying to get a USB cable to an RJ45 head is an utter pain in the ass.
I remember in high school, my comp sci teacher had RJ-45 headers that came in half, and you snapped them together once you lined the wires up, and crimped them. For the life of me I don’t know where to search, and what to search for. Has anyone seen/know where I can get ahold of headers like that?
Uhhh why? Just buy a cheap set of crimpers.
Did you read what I wrote? You still have to crimp the headers… it just makes lining up the wires (and making sure you have a good connection, which is exactly what my problem is) perfectly doable.
I read what you wrote, lining up the wires themselves is pretty easy without a flip top RJ45 jack. I just bunch them within my fingers, line the order up in what I want and just stretch them upward with my other hand while holding them in between my fingers with my other until they assume a straight line and just slide them in. It’s just that easy. Afterwards you just visually confirm they are touching the tips at the end. I guess if you have poor vision I can see the problem, but after doing 100’s of these, I’ve never thought it was actually necessary to have an RJ45 connector that flips open.
Does anyone happen to have the pinouts for the original xbox?
It’s the same as USB. Xbox 1 controller interface was just USB with a different physical connector.
Thought this might help out anyone trying to fit Neutrik NE8FDP RJ-45 into a panel thicker than 4mm. Of course, the piece doesn’t need to be that big mine is because I had originally wanted to put art behind it-like arthong’s side TE plexi.
I used some plexi samples I got from TAP Plastics which come in 4"x4" pieces for $2. I had them cut the samples down to 2"x4", they’ll do it for free. Went with TAP because of the different colored plexi, thought it would be unique.

The 1st piece (clear) I did was from some spare plexi I had, which was already a litttle jacked up.

GC cable
Hey, according to the multimeter, I just made my first working GameCube cable! Can someone recommend some easy ways to test a GC cable on the Wii?
Get your hands on a copy of any of the Wii Guilty Gear games, or KOF: Orochi Saga, or any Virtual Console game that works with GC controllers.
Okay, so, newb question here. If I’m looking at this correctly:
It seems to me that by using a Neutrik RJ45 connector, all I have to do is solder an RJ45 cord to the MC cthulhu per first-post’s instructions, then just hook up a regular head to the back of the neutrik and avoid having to connect wires to a keyjack? Or am I missing something?
Also, for anyone who has purchased the clip-on housing compatible with the neutrick connectors: are the easy to put on your own assembled cords? And do you just break the normal clip or what? I’m not clear on this part yet.
Any help would be much appreciated.
I’m doing my first stick mod, which is a T5, and I’m thinking of putting in a USB jack and one of these RJ45 jacks in the back so I don’t have three cables coming out of it all the time. What are the easiest ones to install? And does anyone have links to where I can buy them online? I’d prefer to just have them in the back of the casing rather than have them going through button plugs.
Does anybody know the recommended length I can make the Cat6 cable before it starts deteriorating in signal quality? I was thinking of extending having a cable run around 5 feet long from MC Cthulhu to it’s end, where it would connect to a RJ45’s cable.
I want to mount an RJ45 like this in a T5 case. What receptacle should I buy? Anyone have a model number or something. I looked at the Neutrik site but there’s so many types, I don’t want to order something and get the wrong one.
Also other than the cat5 cables and crimpers is there anything else I need to make the PS2 and GC cables? I have leftover GC and PS2 cables too.
Cool, thanks for replying.
What settings and what should I be looking for on the multimeter when trying to make the cables for USB, Gamecube and PS2?
