I’m running Pokemon as a side event. Probably be playing on Pokemon Battle Revolution. Bring DS’s and your teams! I’ll come up with some rules if there is enough interest.

On side events, looking like we have a TON of them which is great but keep in mind we still need setups and more importantly TVs. Also like any tourney if you’re called for the main event and you’re in a side tourney be sure to have someone that will tell me, Klaige, or whoever else will be helping that you’re in a game so we don’t assume you left and DQ you. Also it might be a good idea to coordinate with other people running side events so that you’re not overlapping and run out of BYOC TVs.

To everyone looking to run side events:
Take note that while we fully encourage you to run events if time and equipment (especially if you are bringing your own equipment) are available, we want to make sure we aren’t slowing down or cluttering up the main 6-8 tournies outlined in the original post.
Side tournies are fun, but they can slow down main ones in a hurry if people are going back and forth between 3 games at once. We’re tightly packed on this schedule so please please be aware that we have to keep things moving as smooth as possible. We won’t be vicious with DQ’s by any stretch becuase…let’s face it, you guys are coming to Iowa for a tourney. But we will need people up on their shit taking care of business.
Just something to keep in mind if you are intending to run a side game. We’re looking forward to seeing everyone, 6 weeks to go.
I know everyone here’s pretty hype to have a fun tourney (as evident in how active this thread is), but we mustn’t forget that, above all else, we have to ensure everything runs smoothly. Here’s a few rules I will be instigating at the tourney:

No-one may touch the laptop - The ONLY people allowed to touch the laptop are me, Grog, Sondogg, and trucloudy.

For the main tourney matches, there will be 2 sets of names called for each setup. The first will, of course, be the two to play the match, and the second will be the two on standby (the ones up next). - I started implementing this last time and found it very effective.

If you have somewhere to go and are concerned that you may be called for a match, be sure to inform THE PERSON ON THE LAPTOP AT THE TIME!
note:
- Players on standby are NOT to play in any side-tourneys or leave the room. If you absolutely must leave the room, tell the person on the laptop.
- The purpose of the “standby” system is to give players preparation time. You are encouraged to spend the time making sure you have your equipment, making sure it works, getting your fanclub together etc. If you fail to use the time wisely and end up holding up your match, you risk being DQed (though I’ll be VERY lenient).
- In the case where a player is called for standby and he is already in a side-tourney or main tourney match, another pair will be called so there’s no need to worry about this.
- Anyone who leaves the room after informing someone must let that person know when they get back.
- If you leave the room without informing anyone, and your name is called (for either match or standby), you risk being DQed. I’ll be lenient about calling standbys but if you’re already on standby, you WILL be DQed.
- If there’s some extremely important reason for you to use the laptop, you have to get permission from ME (not Grog, Sondogg, or trucloudy)

Yeah that’s what I’m trying to figure out. Mike said he still wasn’t sure on what his plans were if they had enough he said they might get a hotel but I’d like to know for sure.

Ha not really suckering, there are locals (very new to fighters) that were hesitant about showing up so this is a fair way to give them a chance at not leaving empty handed.
