Rise Of Incarnates

Hopefully they took the criticism from the Alpha to heart so the game won’t be ass anymore.

It looks like a fun game and i’ve heard some cool stuff about it. The gameplay videos remind me of Dissidia in a way.

beta came out, will update this post w/ impressions after testing.
Edit : Still shit, carry on.

I forgot I still had this installed when Steam downloaded a 2GB update for it. Maybe it stopped being shit now.

Nah, just play EXVS

Yea, I’ll wait till this game has more content or something.

I’m excited to play a GvG clone through Not-PSN to avoid shit network and play on the comfort of my PC.
I’m down, but we’ll have to wait a bit longer for anything special to come out.

To anyone hating on the character designs: you must be un-American, lol XD…

get it…because they changed the look for the western…scene…

Right…anywho, I find this game to be a ton of fun once you get the hang of the gameplay. However, the chick (Lilith?) is by far the worst character in the beta: She does decent damage, but none of her ranged attacks siphon health, and her health is currently the lowest…so low in fact that one combo with Team Assist Finish can potentially kill you.

As I currently see it, the order of the characters available in order of greatness is as follows: Ares, Mephistopheles, Grim Reaper, Lilith. Ares has the most health, and is on Meph’s level of combos and damage, while having a ranged special better than that of Lilith (or really anyone). This and the fact that his Incarnate Mode doesn’t change his move set but buffs it (and gives him his Special 2), and dat Whirlwind dawg, I put him at the top. Since the best damage is done via melee, Meph beats out Grim, and Grim has more health than Lilith.

Would love to hear anyone else’s opinions…and I would love to face some more humans, :stuck_out_tongue:

Game is still shit awful gameplay wise, they need to just port over how movement works in EXVS if they want the game to catch on and have a scene. The way it is now is godawul and overly promotes Melee over anything else especially with how Boost does not affect recovery time.

um since its a free to play im betting theres character growth/improvements

I hope more people get into this. you can play it with an arcade stick

You can play GvG with an arcade stick. They are arcade games.

I heard this game has no side stepping.

All I have to say to that is; WTF?

Supposedly a update went out that fixes a ton of problems

The newest patch added a new character (motorcycle chick) and a new stage (Paris). It also continued work on the matchmaking system, which seems to be doing better now. Still getting some lag spikes, but at least the games are starting more often.

On Michael Murray’s twitter, he said that Step will not be added due to this being a new genre for the West. He said Bandai-Namco have to start at the beginning or new players will be confused by all the systems; while veteran Gundam VS players might know all about movement options, a majority of the people who will try this game…they don’t have any idea. Finally, he mentioned that if the game does well, then in the future they can start adding in some of the missing mechanics, but that it would be awhile before they even think about that.

He has a point though. Anyone who hasn’t played Gundam VS, will not miss these systems. He suggested that those who have played Gundam VS should continue to do so, as they are not the target audience for this game.

EDIT: On another note, the devs confirmed that cash-shop will be cosmetics only.

So, is it just me, or does Bike-Chick add even more depth to the game?

I think the only problem I have with this game is how slow you feel moving around. It’s supposed to be action-packed and fast-paced, but the only thing fast are the attacks.

He completely missed the point, yeah new players are not gonna know it’s missing but the games quality is gonna suffer due to it. Using that as a justification to not include actual good movement options is fucking dumb. As much as Mike wants to use “It’s a new genre” as an excuse to not include what a game like this needs the game needs those options to last.

And I’m personally irritated the “Keep playing EXVS” line was used because EXVS has little chance for more growth in America while ROI does.

I’m not very familiar with EXVS, and honestly I’m a little confused on this step debate. I know that step stops tracking, but in RoI, you can dash to the side to dodge ranged attacks. The only real difference that I see is that Melee is better in RoI because you can’t stop the melee tracking with dashes. In which case, leaving out steps seems like a design choice to purposefully make melee a more attractive option. The way it sounds to me is “different” and not “worse.”

So, if anyone can help out explaining the situation to me, then that would be great.

Just scroll up to my post when the alpha first started, all the problems are still in. Nothing has changed.

You don’t want melee in a game like this being strong for the reasons it is, melee is so strong because movement is frankly extremely bad and shot is absolutely horrible. The more you play & learn this game the more the problems with movement are going to creep in.

Sure, but why is melee being good a bad thing? Obviously YOU don’t want melee to be the best option, but that doesn’t mean it ruins the game. It just means that this game has a different focus than EXVS.

Personally, I’d rather there be more options than not, but why is ranged being the best option better than melee being the best option? I’ve seen other EXVS players say the same thing, “This game is bad because ranged is bad (which is due to a lack of movement options)” but no one ever has real reasons.

Did you not pay attention to what I just said and said before? Melee is good because movement is bad in the game, it’s due the game being slow and clunky. Ranged is bad because you can’t combo to knockdown due to the cooldown not being reset by boost dashing and cancelling to specials is iffy because most have really bad turn and are vierner based so you stop in your tracks. You generally want ranged to be better than melee because ranged being better means that the game is more neutral based due to the movement options you have access to, in ROI melee is really good because neutral game is really awkward due to how limited your movement is due to no step, no dash cancel shot, and boost not having an influence on recovery.

no step?
