RIP Spectacular Spider-Man 2008-2010

Ok, I have to finally admit that the theme song grew on me.

*one thing that never grew on me though…was that theme music for Power Rangers Operation Overdrive. It’s not only the worst PR theme ever…it’s seriously one of the worst tv themes I’ve ever heard in life. Look it up on youtube if you dare.

back on the topic…Eddie Brock apparently wants a piece of Gwen’s ass? I think he’s aware of the situation (Peter not noticing) and is trying to swoop in and pick up the pieces…get that rebound. I have 0 shame…I’m all about getting the rebounds and girls with low self esteem issues.

Finally saw the episode. Tombstone fucked shit up. …I’m not sure why he was like 8 feet tall, but it was basically too good anyway.

I liked how Spidey beat Rhino.

And Secretary > MJ.

Spider blood, spider blood, radioactive spider blood!

Great episode. Tombstone did Spidey up. PROPER. Shit was awesome.

Man they destroyed any notions of 90s Spidey being the superior with today’s episode. The Rhino fight actually had Rhino as a threat and gave Spiderman a legit way to win to.

All the build up over the previous episodes I was expecting a black Kingpin a la Daredevil movie but then Tombstone enters the scene and wrecks Spidey physically, mentally and in the eyes of the law.

And Aunt May cock blocking Peter after he put in ALL that work on Betty caught me by surprise. I mean when she went there I figured she would fuck it up on accident but to treat Betty nice in the beginning and then to drop “Your too old for my nephew” had me agreeing with Pete, Aunt May is an evil genius. Although MJ ain’t bad, Pete walking into a dance with 20 year old Betty would have been dope.

People are speculating at other forums that Tombstone may not be the Big Man and I think they have good reason to believe otherwise. He never said he was the Big Man and he always used the name in the third person. Foswell could have been trying to lead Peter away from the truth. The Big Man mystery may not be solved just yet.

Nice theory, but in the opening scenes Osborn used the name “Mr. Lincoln” and Hammerhead says something about not using the Big Man’s name. Also, Rhino isn’t the smartest guy there is. I don’t think he’d intentionally lead Spiderman to Tombstone like that.

What I thought Tombstone was doing is covering his own ass just in case somebody was eavesdropping or Spiderman was bugged (no pun intended) so they can’t catch him outright saying that he’s the Big Man.

I would be interested if they made Tombstone the main villian, and The Big Man thing was/is a misdirect for the fans either way. But I wouldn’t rule out someone being above Tombstone.

Isn’t Kingpin always the Kingpin? If not this season then the next one for sure. It’s the fucking Kingpin.

^
Kingpin loses and regains his criminal empire at the drop of a dime. At one point in the comics Daredevil stole it from him.

I agree with FOBio, the way Tombstone talked he phrased everything as a hypothetical. And I am guessing that was mainly to make sure he could deny actually admitting to being a major crime boss. I wouldn’t be surprised if at the end of the season someone comes in and takes over as the major crime boss but it is great to see Tombstone actually an interesting character and not just muscle.

I forgot all about this.

Need to see whatever episode(s) were shown.

As things are now, they cannot use Kingpin in this show as someone else owns the right to the character. Doesn’t bother me, though, because if they can make Tombstone that much of a bad mofo in just a few short minutes, I’m all for him being a crime lord. Props to Greg Weisman and crew for having us play guessing games in a cartoon. :woot:

I was in and out watching yesterday’s Spidey but I did see…

Rhino vs Spidey fight was hot!! The long fall and Spidey saying “NO!” and trying to save him was real good. Rhino ripping through an entire building… also real good. Spidey beating Rhino with his brains… Awesome.

Tombstone vs Spidey = Beyond awesome! If it was wrestling I’d say it was a squash match. Uppercut into slam down into foot on the chest and some shit-talking. Then he caught the pool ball Spidey webbed in his hand and crushed it. I’m pretty sure my jaw dropped to the floor and I wet my pants when I saw that.

I STILL don’t like Spidey taking so many hits and not getting his ribs busted or at least his costume getting ripped. BUT… the fights are so fucking great… no… not merely “great”… they’re EPIC… so I can overlook Spidey not getting injuries. And it really seems like Spiderman is gonna be taking a turn down some darker stories in the future.

Oh and I forgot to mention something with Spiderman that I thought was the greatest thing I’ve seen in a comicbook cartoon in a long time… when the episode began Spidey was chasing some goons down in a car and one of them…

PULLED OUT A GUN!! :wow: :wow: :wow:

This floored me! There weren’t even any guns in Batman:TAS.

As for Peter, again, the intereaction is awesome. Oh May Parker, you sneaky mastermind. “My dear… he’s too old for you. Bye!” AND I thought it was REALLY COOL how JJJ held off Rhino from seeing Peter. I actually thought he was gonna snitch on him but it was done really well with Triple J gesturing with his hands while distracting Rhino by talking. And of course, I wanna do Mary Jane in the butt. And we all knew the “Face it tiger, you just hit the jackpot!” line was coming a mile away.

I honestly think Tombstone and Kingpin are rivaling mobsters and Kingpin will be introduced later. However, if Tombstone is the main mob boss villain, I’d be o.k. with that. Afterall… Kingpin is known more for being Daredevil’s main adversary more than Spiderman.

Just saw the latest episode…the series just keeps getting better. Tombstone was beastly.

uh? their were plenty of guns in batman…shit the opening had guns. what was he gettin shot by…nerf darts?

Yeah, hella guns in Batman. Though I did notice it in the new Spidey episode, and was also shocked and pleasantly surprised.

Spider-Man is supposed to have superhuman durability to some degree, but how much will change depending on the show/writer etc.

Maybe he was thinking of The Batman, which probably didn’t have guns.

Anyway, I also think that Kingpin and Tombstone are rivals. Tombstone is a great main villain for now, though, but I think we can all guess that Osborne, Brock, and Octavios will outclass him soon enough.

well hasnt tombstone always worked for the kingpin in comics? i think the animated he was played up more of a mini boss…so i can see them being rivals this time around. but in the end he usually ends up a lacky to kingpin.

No. What comics are you reading?

He did do work for Kingpin but worked for other mobsters as well.

I watched “The Invisible Hand” again. DANG, did Tombstone own Spidey quick! I’m gonna get someone to make me a gif of that scene.

My bad. I was thinking about the latest Batman and for some reason thought that Batman Beyond was the first one and Batman TAS was the last one. :xeye:

I must’ve missed the part of the episode where Gwen was there. What happened? Did Brock ask her out? I thought he was out of high school.
