Thanks for the good work you’ve done. Most CEOs would be content to work behind the scenes, but you’ve put yourself out there in public when others would’ve just had some rep do the work.

PLEASE UNDERSTAND…

You will be missed.

RIP Iwata-san…

It’s a sad day in the Mushroom Kingdom.

Before he was president, he was a programmer who worked on games such as Earthbound, Smash Bros, Pokemon, and more.

If you’ve never read these, I highly suggest checking it out now: http://iwataasks.nintendo.com/

He and Sakurai basically made the first Smash Bros on their own in their off time.

He was the last person left on the board outside Miyamoto with a traditional gaming background… The board is about to go full retard with all the things he fought against like Capcpom-style DLC bullshit.

Things will never be the same again.

Its sad he had to die at such a bad time for nintendo, when everyone was going at him.

If he had to go I’d much rather it be at a happier time for him. RIP to Mr. Iwata.

Jesus Christ Po, there is a time and place for your bullshit.

RIP good sir.

I remember reading he was at Game Freak, helping them on GBC Pokemon and he was able to fit a whole other map on the cartridge, while the other programmers thought they didn’t have enough space for what thst already have.

Thank you for all the memories you helped create over the years. I’ll cherish them forever.

“On my business card, I am a corporate president. In my mind, I am a game developer. But in my heart, I am a gamer.”
—Satoru Iwata

You will be missed. Thanks for the memories.

Wow, I was NOT expecting this today. RIP Iwata San. I don’t consider a lot of the decisions Nintendo has made over the past 2 decades good decisions. However, you were most certainly instrumental in the things that I enjoyed about Nintendo.

RIP, died really young he musta been reading some of your comments over the years mr Po. That said David Soren still alive and kicking at the ripe old age of 85. Guess thats the prize of winning dem couple of console wars.

The sadness is real… 安らかに、岩田さん。

1-Down

To the gaming world and most people over a certain age, this man played a huge part in our lives. A huge loss to all. RIP Iwata.

Don’t forget that he was opposed to laying off employees (and I think Yamauchi as well). I’ve not once read that Nintendo had laid off staff, even when things weren’t going well. http://www.polygon.com/2013/7/5/4496512/why-nintendos-satoru-iwata-refuses-to-lay-off-staff

That guy wasnt even really old.

He actually took multiple paycuts in order to keep from having to layoff people.

Leonard Nimoy, Christopher Lee, countless many others that I can’t recall right now, now this…

Dammit, 2015.

I remember that. He said that laying people off is a short term solution that would hurt the company in the long run.

I did not expect this today! Holy crap this is tragic. RIP
