RIP, Marvel Vs. CAPCOM

am i the only one who thinks that they should remake Capcom Fighting All Star with MvC’s gameplay?

No. Ever since XvsSF I wanted a SF/Capcom game with similar gameplay. The hyped up versions of the SF characters in the VS series were helluva fun and I think could carry a game on their own, then you have the myriad other Capcom franchises to add into the mix.

Unfortunately what we got was Capcom Fighting Jam/Evolution which was a trashy mess.

Yeah, that sort of thing would be awesome. I mean, it’s not like Capcom doesn’t have the characters for it. I mean, I already mentioned they could cross promote it to include Namco and/or Sega characters if they wanted and it could work. Or hell, throw in Guilty Gear people to the cast if they needed, it doesn’t matter. Capcom can still potentially do an MvC-like game in the future and have it do well, regardless of whether they have Marvel, or any comic characters in it or not.

I heard about a Guilty Gear/Darkstalkers crossover (back when GG was being published by Sammy) years ago that… never happened.

And I’m not too sure Capcom would be interested in working with Arc System Works again after Sengoku Basara X.

I fucking hate GG, imo it’s good game but damn, i just can’t stand anime fg…

Believe me when i tell you that SBX turned the way it did becase both capcom and asw didnt care enough.

The game was heavily rushed by capcom so asw to save time used the HnK engine.
The game barely had more than one year of development, not enough testing anf its mechanics were contantly changing by request of capcom.

Add that both asw and capcom where busy working on their current gen games at the time.

This post will be hillarious if you happen to be a mvc3 player

In the way that people in here have discussed their feelings on UMvC3 being a bad game, or in the way that Marvel could be considered an anime game by some?

And I actually never had really heard much, if anything about SBX, though from what I gather from that post…I think it might be for the best.

In that mvc3 is an anime fg despite what some people want to deny it.
As for SBX, the game is fun( just ask kusoru)but, its problem is that it was obviously a side project for both companies and it didnt have the benefit of being part if a gen where they could patch the game to jron its problems

Also from what i know the sb series creator is still interested on giving the sbx spinoff a try with asw, so who knows.

Says dude with an anime style Cammy avatar…

is there anything wrong with having Cammy avatar? :-/
and does “anime style Cammy avatar” have anything to do with MvC? :-/

Technically, that design did debut in XvSF.

so?
still don’t know if that has anything to do with my other post… :-/

If I’m reading this right, @Weedian has been smoking, his comment makes no sense (no judgement dude, but what was your point?). @d3v was backing you up in the sense that the design of your Cammy avatar was first in a VS game so there is no contradiction with your request for a VS style game with Capcom characters.

throws scarf over shoulder

I really want ArcSys to make a Capcom VS game, that’d be interesting.
Super Rival Schools x Darkstalkers VS Guilty Gear * Blazblue EXX++ #Turbo = Instant Pre-order PlznoDLCchars Edition.

shit, i forgot rival schools, the series deserves a reboot.

Only if ArcSys took the reigns on it. I don’t want to play as a butchered version of Ragna who gets half his special moves replaced with three slightly different versions of Hell’s Fang, or a Mu that has to set Stein positions using quarter circle commands.

I’m sure there’d be some way to work around it, if it came up. And on the Cammy thing…I actually kinda prefer “Doll Cammy” over the current design Cammy in the SF4 series. I could be wrong, but I don’t think it’s even been a DLC, which is kinda odd actually. On the original thing though, when it comes to ArcSys taking control of any sort of Capcom VS game, I get the feeling that it would kind of be perceived negatively.

I think what Hecatom was saying that most of the stuff people deride and complain about in the so-called “anime” fighting games exist in some capacity in Marvel Vs. Capcom 3.

(also, I’m a little bit curious about how SBX turned out the way it did, plz elaborate)

As for the future of the Marvel Vs. Capcom series, maybe we’ll get a new one after a new Street Fighter comes out and makes bank. It will probably be radically different from MvC3 as it was to MvC2.

Of course it would be, anything that’s not SF, Marvel or Tekken gets rejected by the majority. That hasn’t stopped many MANY good games from emerging against the odds.

I think Alpha and MSH era Capcom were geniuses, SNK had some dark days but overall do a good job, but ArcSys IMO are the best FG developer. The creativity and level of care put into their games and their systems is second to none. I really do think they would do a better job with a VS style game than modern Capcom could.

Honorable mention to Examu, AH3 and PBE are more awesome than most people will ever realise. With the AH3 engine they could easily make an awesome DBZ/Karas/PPG/Psychic Force/Matrix/Crouching Tiger/etc. fighting game.

The funny thing is that neither SF4 or MV3 have been made by Capcom anyway. They are Dimps’s and 8ting respectively.

Didn’t they co-developed with Capcom on those games
