Welcome to USA? Enjoy your stay. Our arcade machines are made out of wood instead of plastic.
Shorts are easially fixed, Robin can or if he doesn’t feel like it I can. Thing is with these machines, if it’s one that I own you need to fucking TELL me if it’s broken. I live two hours away, I don’t know when shit’s busted unless someone calls me or texts me, I don’t check this thread that often. My phone number is 404-MAG-NETO, I’m reachable, I promise.
It would cost a lot more than that to modify the cab to accept Japanese parts instead of american parts.
The wiring wouldn’t have to change thankfully but the entire control panel would need to be redone.
I do have an extra Japanese style cabinet sitting in my room in DC. I’m not using it for anything, and all it really needs is to be reassembled and wiring checked, I just haven’t gotten around to it. I need all new buttons and sticks for it for sure, and a kick harness, and to wire the JAMMA harness, plus I need people to help me move it. (Machines are hard to move). If there’s actually interest we can talk.
owned.
As far as the quarters being eaten, I really don’t know what to tell you. I ran a few through to test and everything worked for me. Are you using both coin chutes, is one or the other working better than the others? I will schedule a trip to Richmond next weekend to look at everything, so let me know if there’s any other concerns. I’m still about $1000 in the hole from buying the machines and upgrading parts and whatnot, so I’m not stealing your quarters and laughing at you, if there’s stray quarters in the cab they go right back to buying buttons and stuff anyway, heh.
Get at me if you need me to look at anything when I come down. 404-MAG-NETO
Sorry for all the troubles guys, but there are things you should know.
Ok. 1st off. it’s not the stick or Happs fault. The fact that you guys are saying “up doesn’t work, short randomly fires… get SANWA’S!” means you don’t really know much about how arcade parts work.
Those are both WIRING ISSUES. Up not working at all means the ground has probably slipped off, and being that it’s something that I kinda jerry-rigged, it’s not really a surprise. Short Firing randomly is probably the same issue. I’m going by today to fix it, hook up ST, and possibly put in Strikers 1945 II.
Also, realize that 3S is not my cabinet. It’s Jeremy’s (Strogg’s). I’m fixing this stuff with my own time and parts for absolutely nothing.
On friday, I just tried to fix the actuator in the original stick. It wasn’t standard size, so I threw some tape around it. Didn’t work well at all.
Yesterday, I replaced the stick, but had to replace some of the wiring b/c it was too short. I believe that’s what’s causing the current problems.
I’m pretty new at this arcade/stick fixing thing. Most of the time I’m just winging it. So have a little patience please. I’ll pay a pro to try to fix the coin door. If I’m there, I can always credit the machine however many quarters you want.
Further down the road I can see putting in USB ports into the cabs so you can hook up your own sticks. You’d have to have a standard layout though. I wouldn’t expect this or anything. Just a pipe dream
Robin and I fuck’d with it today and here is what we fixed:
Coin slot works! 10/10 times. Tape is a wonderful thing.
1p joystick jump is fixed. The QD was just slipping off because it wasn’t clamped down tight enough. However, you really got to push forward and diagonal for SRK’s and fireballs respectively. It’s due to the actuator’s size, it’s a little small (whomp whomp). Robin will fix it the next time he goes down there with the correct actuator.
Shut up, stop complaining. We got 3s 5 minutes from our houses.
Also, hype up VS. More requests for it, more money goes in, better chance to persuade robin to put the board into something. Strogg, i’ll help you move that shit if VS gets a reserved spot in it.
And wtf is with the VF4 machine? Do we have a vf4 board? Because i’d rather have that or something in there then just a cab to take up space.
Tornadoflame: You know i love you dawg. Get some time away from the fam to get owned in some fight man games.
yeah i have no idea how arcade parts work, was just trying to get a feel for whats possible. Just getting a 3s cab in town is pretty awesome. Its my favorite game by a longshot so I was really bummed at all the issues but if we can keep it working then I’ll keep feeding it quarters.
we need a puzzle game in the vf4 cabinet. no one wants to actually play vf4, it’s just the truth. i think puzzle fighter or bust a move would be awesome in the vf4 cab.
The thing about the VF4 cab is that it’s wired up for Sega Naiomi boards only. I wasn’t aware of this when I bought it. The other thing about it is that it only has thre ebuttons, (and the sticks are mounted crooked). Options are -
rewire it so it will work with any game - will take me a few hours, and i dont really know how so guessing at it possibly breaking it.
redo control panel - will take tools that i dont have, and money, will need a new kick harness and such - then put marvel 2 in that cab and use marvel 2 cab for something else.
buy a naomi board that only uses three buttons - vf, or virtua tennis or whatever
I would like to see Puzzle Fighter, but it’s really a matter of time and money at this point. Man I want to move back to Richmond now
