Gonna add a couple of you Xbox dudes on Live, just a heads up so you know who it’s coming from. Anyone else feel free to add me too if you want, I’ve been playing MvC3 and SSF4 for about a month and suck pretty badly, so I’d be a good matchup for anyone else who’s learning too or wants to kick my ass and help me get better. I’ll probably stop by downtown and check out what you guys have going on in a week or two also.

Sounds good! Just curious, do you guys usually have Super and Marvel both up, or switch back and forth or what?
I’m trying to like Marvel but it’s just too much crazy happening at once for my slow brain to process or something, and it’s weird I was doing pretty good the first couple weeks with the Xbox controller, but something about switching to joystick makes it way harder for me. A big part of it might be that I’m using the Tekken stick, even as a beginner I can tell these buttons are bad. My TE shows up tomorrow and will hopefully be much better to learn with, but regardless I’ll probably focus mostly on Super for a while.
I am planning on having games at my place to teach all the secrets of the Moose. In other words, beating the pulp out of the young ones til they get better. I found this video and thought it might be useful to anyone who is learning stick. Although it’s for Tekken if you can execute wavedashing and backdash cancelling in Tekken 6 the stick inputs in 2D fighters will seem easy in comparison. He gives good tips on what parts of the hand to use to push what directions and I think its applicable to any game.

I don’t want ranbats to interfere with Danny’s thing. I’d also prefer if we started streaming meet ups without a ranbat system to gain interest. There’s like 6 of us who even come out consistently.
Saying Irish car bombs is like saying Taliban hijacked-airplanes. The British would be horrified! Kidding, I’ll take a few with ya.
It seems like there are 2 problems to address with the ran-bat/stream.

The days that people are available are already taken. Since people have been going to SM (Tuesday) and Cary St (Thursday) before and no other weekday is available. That’s why I proposed that the ran-bat be bi-weekly. I’m not in charge of either event but I’m asking. Would it be that big of a deal to alternate between restaurant and somebody hosting every other week (we’re not completely giving up a place)? As for the dispute between days, it seems like Tuesday or Thursday is best but everybody should post which days are best so it’s official. Colin, modify the player list post with each person’s days available for right now so it’s easier.

There is no point of streaming if there isn’t anything on the line. Competition makes people better and if there is a low turnout for the week, it can just be a round-robin or something. It’s not going to more than $5 bucks (We spend more on beer and food) plus I’m sure the host won’t charge venue (hopefully).
The worst case scenario is that we only have a stream for monthlies but it would be really cool to have something going on during the weekday. Casuals only make us but so much better.
Eh… I’m not gonna add everyone’s availability on that list. People should just post more and say when they can make things. Everyone should be on the IRC channel #rva too.
At this point whoever is gonna run and start the ranbats should just make an executive decision when they will be and have it at that since everyone keeps asking for different days. Once it’s set, we can decide where our loyalties lie. It’d also be fun to test out the stream equipment with casuals in between the ranbats.
