Hey Matt, thanks for the advice! I hope next time we get together, you can show me some more stuff as well
If you are a comic book fan that movie makes no sense what so ever but magneto is pretty bad ass in the movie. All the stuff they do in the movie contradicts everything in the comics. If you are going to see it because it’s an action movie with some x-men characters than you might like it
I do bleed Mortans lol
cough X3 cough
I’ve learned to recently go into Comic/Video Game movies as the director’s own interpretation of the series and not base it of what actually happens.
It’s ok to think of it this way but even when comics do alternate realities in comics they don’t completely change everything they might change a few minor things and maybe add a character or two
First Class contradicts way more than X3 did and I didn’t like either movie. If your going to make a comic book movie you have to keep most of the comic book lore intact or there is no point in making the movie except to use the license this is what made spider-man 1 and 2 so good they kept it close to the book and sam rami put his own touch on it.
It’s easier to keep relative to the comics early on but eventually it’s gonna change with the more movies you make. This is the 5th X-men movie now. At this point, the movie is it’s own universe. Either accept it or move on. Just because it no longer adheres to the plot doesn’t make it a bad move. X3 sucking made it a bad movie because it went in too many different directions too fast. I’ll form my opinion of First Class myself when I see it this weekend.
Spider-man series did what you were saying. 1 and 2 stayed relatively close to comics. 3 butchered everything, hence the next Spiderman movie is going to be a reboot of the series. This is fine to a point but I don’t want to see for the rest of my life a reboot of series every time they diverge from the plot or the directors admitted they don’t like the direction it goes in. I see it too much in TV shows and cartoons already. You made your grave with your previous work, lie in it or salvage it. Having said that, the Batman series reboot was so worth it.
The critics loved First Class, which means that it must’ve had absolutely nothing to do with the comics other than brand name, character names and traits/powers.
I think Its okay for the directors to deviate from the cannon established in the comics. It easy if they are just going to just do a regular adventure that is simply “middle story”. Directors just have to take extra care if they are going to tinker with an Origin story but Christopher Nolan has proved that there is a “Right” way to do it.
I saw it last night…it was ok…i agree with adam in the sense that they really worked hard to butcher everything about the comics…but on a positive note the movie adds a whole new dynamic to 7 degrees of kevin bacon!! that alone is worth the price of admission…
But all in all i thought the movie was worth seeing provided you go in pretending that you dont know dick about the x-men…there was one scene that for some reason had me laughing the entire movie…
“Hi my name is Charles Xavier and this is Erik”
“Fuck off”
that was the best part of the movie lol
yea that was the best part ! i laughed until the movie was over…
damn matt jordan on the front page again…keep that up and you may get that guaccachip and pepsi max sponsorship after all!!
Matt on the front page again? What is that, twice in a few weeks? Congrats!
and front page of eventhubs
I KNOW THAT GUY!!!
Man, you need to meet some cooler people then!
And yea, First Class made me question everything I knew about X-Men until I realized I actually know what I’m talking about. I still think the series fails in general but overall, I’d still recommend it since it was the best Xmen movie since X2.
Great tutorial, Matt. Showing them how it’s done! And excellent choice of music. Took me WAY back to the SNES and Playstation days.
ahh DeRezz, when you say “Takes me way back”, I cant help but chuckle…and then get a little depressed
Games at my house tomorrow afternoon if anyone wants in.
Totally misread this as “colored people” for some reason and I was very confused.
bwhahahahahahaahhahahaahahahah!!!
My wife has girls night out scheduled for this Friday night and I know Friday Nights are unpopular nights for FG meetups/sessions as people have crazy things like social lives and commitments outside of fighting games. If any kind of meetup is going on post up as I know there has to be some people out there who probably want to play some hot off the presses Nerf-Bad Dive kick edition street fighter. I’d like to put in some real lab time (which is hard with my schedule) with some of richmond’s finest who can help me perhaps learn the game for reals.
Matt J: Just got BBCS2 on psp over the weekend and it appears to be a perfect port of the console. I don’t know enough about CS1 vs CS2 changes to know if things work that shouldn’t or if the wall bounce corner glitch with Bang and Val still exist. All I got to say is… Hazama = Vortex
