Reviving Dead 3rd Strike Cartridges?!

I think what he means is that is the asian region with english text. If it is, then it’ll be missing the voices and what not.

ya it means it will come with english text, missing sounds from the shoto’s and theirs a mix up with yang sa1 because it says magnetic storm like necro’s sa1.

Still though reviving your kit its better to have these imperfections then being dead…

i think the head to head cab at mgl is ASIA version

when you hear about it, you think it sucks, but it actually ain’t that bad without the sounds. better than nothing for sure :wonder::wonder:

North York? That’s like right here.

dh020: yang super is like that on US version as well.

its sounding like hes a middle man for this it seems. cuz i think capcom japan charges around 100 for a restore IIRC.

sounds about right then $150 with shipping & return. I feel sorry for peeps who sold off their’s for half the value thinking there was no hope for that Kit anymore.

amount i seen aswell for sale! damn

it seems like he is just changing the data for the carts, so the main cart being dead doesnt matter as long as there is still some sorta memory unit in there to hold the data. Also the asia version does not need batteries AFIK.

All CPS3 carts require batteries.

It still requires the battery after being reprogrammed, it’s still also as sensitive as it was before, meaning it can still easily be killed.

don’t forget to unsticky it D:,

if it proves to be true though, PM me so I can add it to the essential joystick thread…

Did yours come back as asian version or US version?

Asia, he only has the hardware to reprogram it into Asia but he knows people in Japan and they might be able to reprogram it into USA version. He’s sending one of my carts to Japan so I’ll let you know which version it comes back as.

He can take any region dead cart (euro/asia/usa/mexico) and revive it into Asian though.

I love how everyone is so opinionated, but no one has their shit straight.

Capcom does JP carts, so they wouldn;t be doing Asian ones. Period.

Asian carts can be bought from some HK pcb shops for $150.

Nothing makes sense here, but who gives a fuck. And so much whining about he doesn’t care about the community, lol, if I find a way to magically turn rocks into gold, I’m going to give it away, okay…cuz you know, I’m all about the community.

Arbitrage, it’s what makes us American.

They might. Japanese companies typically sell/repair asian equipment all over various asian countries.

it just doesnt add up to me, cuz like thc said, if this going to capcom japan, they will only restore japan version. this is common knowledge for people with cps3 boards and know about suicide and such. the question is, does he really take it somewhere to be reprogrammed? OR, is he just swapping carts out and giving you asian? for all we know, he could have a shitload of asian carts.

i know, may seem far fetched, but im just covering all the angles.

now to my knowledge, i thought the security carts ONLY held the keys and region settings. i thought all the voice tracks, music, version of the game, region, etc… was all on the cd(?) cuz i know for a fact the cd holds the version data. i thought that all that mattered is the region for the cart and cd had to match. someone correct me if im wrong. but i remember at one time i couldnt get a US version1 cd to boot and install with a japan security cart. granted this was when i was still not too familiar with operating cps3 hardware, this was like 6 years ago.

it seems that information on the security carts and what the cart holds (other than the encryption keys), seems to be sketchy information, at best.

Version and music are on the CD, but the version is also on the cartridge. Whenever you’re using a different version CD, all you have to do is “Rewrite Flash” or some similar option in the CPS3 menu and it updates the cart with the info from the CD (takes an hour or two).

Voice tracks and region are both permenantly stored on the cart.

So, there are no regional differences on the CD; both US and J version 3rd Strikes use the same CD. The only different CDs are Version 1 and 2.

damn that is shitty. i swear, cps3 is the oddest hardware i ever worked with

The CD isn’t even required once you flash to the flash RAM SIMMs AFAIK.

cd is still required, for initial security check, i believe, kinda like how pc games are

What about the “No CD” versions I"ve heard of?
