Reviving Dead 3rd Strike Cartridges?!

cd is still required, for initial security check, i believe, kinda like how pc games are

What about the “No CD” versions I"ve heard of?

Excellentcom.net does the same thing, it’s also only for the Asian version, a guy from a french arcade forum (neo-arcadia) got his dead 3S back to life (including the new battery) for 55USD + shippping.

Hmm… even if this guy is just a middle-man, something is better than nothing. I’d much rather have 3S at 90% accuracy than no 3S at all.

well, 100% accuracy minus a few minor flaws like sound and super names lol

He’s not a middleman, he returned my carts to me the day after he received them.

So what about this turning “rocks into gold”?

I had seen this auction today as well. Made me curious. I’d send him a dead cart if I had one. Dead carts have scared me away from cps3 so far.

So where the Asian boards actually made by Capcom? I never understood why it was fucked up…

Asian kits are cheap and readily available. So this news is disapointing.

Still good news though, especially for those with dead carts.

The bigger news though is that CPS3 is decrypted (or at least partially decrypted). So those with dead carts may want to hold off just yet…

Link?

I know this is an old thread, but is there anyone really working on reviving dead carts?

I’d like to keep original working arcade hardware. No emulated stuff for me.

Thanks.

How can you tell if a CPS-3 Third Strike CD is version 1 or version 2?

when it boots it will say either 990512 or 990608 in red text. 990512 is version A the other is version B. You can try to do unblockables as well.

I too have heard of this “No CD” version. So how does this version work without a CD?

Which version has the unblockables?

A does.

i’ve had my cart revived by excellentcom.net. they charge $95 for “fake” carts, which probably are some dead Jojo or whatever carts turned into 3s. that’s what came with my 3s kit, so it cost me that much. then i had the batt changed so they charged me a total of $110. pretty good, still.

This guy don’t exist anymore. I looked him up just now.

Does anybody know any other place where they resurrect dead Third Strike carts?

I have an extra dead third strike cart and finally have enough money saved to probably fix it.

So does anyone out there know people who are reliable and can fix dead third strike carts?

Thanks

I’m resurrecting the thread because someone is actively blogging about reviving CPS3 boards. He’s not quite there but the results so far are promising

Good find, let’s hope this eventually leads to a way to “phoenix” dead 3rd Strike boards.
