Return of Tournament Fighters? New 2.5D TMNT fighter from Smash Bros and Team Ninja

Leo: Hurricane Kick
Raph: Psycho Crusher (Sorta)
Mike: One of Omega Red’s Specials
Don: Some Chun Move

Correct me if I am wrong but I remember seeing these on the nes version of tournament fighters?

Plus, the game sounds cool, but not on the wii. :frowning:

Argh, I know, you might even be forced to play Tatsunoko vs Capcom! That’s for teh families.

Oh noes anything but that! How dare you make me play Madworld! That shit is kid’s stuff!

I’m not even looking Capcom’s way. They just don’t have anything I care about. When I get my ps3, it’ll be KOFXII, Tekken 6, Silent Hill, DBZ BL, and whatever else catches my fancy.

Everyone has eras that they like and dislike.

You might think combining Krang and Shredder was dumb. Me, I didn’t like a lot of the things the first cartoon series did. Turning the Foot into robots? Krang and his silly peach-colored robot body? Comic relief Shredder? Changing Baxter Stockman into a white guy? About the only thing the cartoon had in common with the original comic was character names. I understand why they did it. They were turning a rather violent comic into a kid’s show. But it still irked me. One of the reasons I liked the relaunched cartoon a few years back is that it showed knowledge of the non-Archie comics.

Game will probably have a helping of original cartoon though, or the cartoon-based movies and games, as that is probably what most people old enough to work on the game will think of. With a mix of new, due to the more recent games and series. Can’t guess whether the CG movie will get any representation, though.

Agreed.

The 2003 show eventually did its own thing, as well, but prior to that whole “Fast Forward” nonsense that came about like a few years ago, it was a largely good show, I would think. They also represented the Triceratons, and one of my favorite arcs from the original comic, in a nice fashion. It even threw in Usagi for a few episodes, and under his PROPER name, no less.

Any way, as far as this game is concerned, if it’s fun, I’ll buy. But it would REALLY help the cause if it has at least ONE of the following guaranteed as playable:

A) Leatherhead - preferably, the smart croc that the original creators intended him to be, not the “Bayou” model from the 80s toon.

B) A Triceraton, in some form or fashion

C) Bebop and Rocksteady - make 'em Popo and Nana, and force 'em to work together!

D) Miyamoto Usagi - I can’t imagine Stan Stakai saying “NO!” if they asked. Besides, Usagi’s been in most other Turtles-related things, plus I believe he was in a few of the recent Konami games (though I never played 'em for myself).

Um…who is Sukurai and why do you hate him so?

Dammit, let’s get this over with now.

Wishlist.

Keno (AKA Ernie Reyes Jr. AKA Filipino Terry Bogard)
Tatsu (bald Todo)
Vernon/Irma/Burne (Team Channel 6)
'87 Shredder (with Uncle Phil as an alternate costume)
Vermillion Akiha (too good)

BREAK DOWN!

Sakurai is one of the co creators of Smash Bros. (Iwata being technically the other creator). He also is the creator of Kirby and was also the head of Hal labs (make kirby games and were involved in all smash bros. games). He doesn’t work for Nintendo anymore though as of before Brawl…don’t know the exact reason’s he left. Anyway, most of the hate that’s towards him is in regards to his game design decisions from Melee to Brawl. Not everyone hates him for all of the decisions but mostly anyone who’s watched or played Brawl can agree with…’…tripping?’. There’s other things that people complain about in the game…but I’m pretty sure the decision to have everyone randomly trip within the game is at least on everyone’s list of ‘things that shouldn’t have made it past the round table discussion’.

One of Shredder’s moves should be called ‘MASHED…POTATOES!’ and his super should have him grabbing a character and making the front of the Bel-Air house appear on screen followed by a shot of your character getting his ass tossed out the door.

‘SUPER COMBO FINISH!!!’

lets kick shell!

Complete with birds chirping, and your character giving a short “AAH!” as they are tossed.

hey the TMNT movie game on the GBA was excellent and is up htere with turtles and time and tournament fighters.

re: Sakurai

Is all the Sakurai hate solely because of tripping? Cause that’s asinine, as stupid as tripping is.

re: this game

Sadly, this game will most likely not be a replacement for SNES TMNT:TF, the best fighting game of its time that didn’t have “Street Fighter” in the title.

On the other hand, we might get another Melee/Brawl, which is also good, albeit different to what most of us (?) would prefer. That said, I don’t have hopes for this one. Someone call me when there’s a loketest.

I would pay for TMNT:TF HD Remix. Hell, I’d pay just for the Remix part. It doesn’t need to be high-def.

No I just made tripping one of the mentionables on the list that is generally agreed upon across the board. I didn’t mention most of the others cause it’s pretty arguably divided…(L-canceling, wave dashing, etc) So I didn’t want to go higher than my own head and try to say that I’m speaking for everyone that plays smash…cause that’s not the case lol. Most of the things that generally have to do with Sakurai and hate is the arguments between people who enjoy how brawl is played vs. people who enjoy how Melee is played…then there’s the whole item argument…but like I said before it’s mostly the argument on his game design choices between Melee and Brawl…it’s not just tripping.

:rofl::rofl:

Even so, I’m sure a super like that would just make him TOO GOOD.

Brawl’s problems are not the removal of minor things like your beloved wavedashing and L-cancels, its more that the complete lack of hitstun makes any sort of offensive approach useless, the game’s floatyness, easy recovery and the gigantic defensive advantage is what makes brawl suck, not the lack of wavedashing,

when you say ‘your beloved’ you make it sound as if these are the words of myself speaking of my opinion…which is what I was trying to avoid especially considering that I wasn’t a fan of wavedashing in melee. And like I said earlier…it’s a combination of things…and apparently my attempt at specifically ‘not trying to speak for everyone who plays smash’ failed horribly dispite me saying that in the post lol. I don’t know how much more clear I can be on the matter ya know? I left the room there for the other topics on the ‘Sakurai hate’ when I said a few examples and put ‘etc’. I didn’t want to go too far into it and completely move this thread which is supposed to be about a new game into a topic that would rather not get into and would otherwise derail any discussion on the new game…ya know?

Lol, nah. Just make it a Shungokusatsu-type deal and it’ll be fine.

This is how it will be read.

fixed the thread title to reflect reality and still pull in random views

Since the success of Dark Knight, movement has occurred towards a darker, more adult based TMNT remake. Laird AND Eastman are working on it… supposedly. Perhaps these things, and Nintendo’s recent interest in shedding their “kiddie” label (exclusive Fatal Frame) will bring about a more serious TMNT game. It’s an unlikely hope, but I’m holding on to it.

As for all the TMNT:TF HD Remix comments, check this out:

EDIT: I have little doubt that SRK has what it takes to create a fighting game. Talent obviously, finances… possibly (EVO) and sway in the fighting game community, definitely.
