I can’t wait for this tourney. I was in the 1st S FL Challenge and it was alot of fun and was the major tourney I was a part of. Meeting Ricky O, Floe, Arturo Sanchez and Dreamtr were icing on the cake.
Florida needs to be on the map when it comes to competitive play. There are a lot of good players all around especially in Tampa, Broward and Miami. This tourney and Final Round Arcade will hopefully have a hand in that.
Shankar, most of the ppl you mentioned I haven’t seen since they closed down Flippers. Honda I’m not sure the status but Johan lives in NC now and one of them Tony’s you mentioned should be the one that plays a mean Ryu now in SF4. And yes, those were good times. The more ppl come the better, although with some major players coming, ppl not coming will be 1 thing we won’t have to worry about lol.
Yeah last I heard Johan moved to NC and had a kid. Honda I’m sure is around somewhere chilling with those hot ass sisters he’s got! :'D
I’m guessing the Tony you’re talking about is (Asian) Tony, used to play a mean C-Groove Chun Li in cvs 2… too bad he always chocked under pressure with his sweaty palm hands! lol It’s got to be him, because A3 Tony would ALWAYS pick Akuma in games, so he’s gotta be playing sf4 Akuma!
I wonder what Rob (NewGuy) is up to these days, dude was hilarious!
hotel rooms are like $60-$70. cheaper rooms are available too in the $40-$50 range. you can probably make plans to bunk with other out of towners and split the cost.
Weltall: Since I am originally FROM Miami, I never really “stayed” in any hotels out that way, but there are tons and tons to choose from. The arcade is VERY centrally located, but I’m all up for going with someone out there…
You know, we should try to get Lil Majin to go too…that would be an interesting tournament with him there as well…road trip = 15 hours…that much I know, LOLOLOL, plane is only 2.
hey jason what i meant by lag is a couple of things. The main issue is the tv itself. As the LCD tv gets bigger it needs to stretch the image more creating lag (doesn’t happen on CRT). then there is also lag when you use a ps2 game on a PS3 backwards compatible systems. the same goes for using a PS2 system with the LCD’s that will also cause lag and if the cvs2 ps2 version is laggy like the ps2 version of mvc2 that will make things worse. if we are gonna have mvc2 it might aswell be on the DC and for that why swap systems when all u have to do is swap discs? and will run smoother. so yeah we already have 1 CRT were gonna need at least 2 more and perhaps more. 1 for each game at least. oh and the monitor on the mvc2 arcade cabinet blew up on saturday so for now the arcade cabinet is out of commission, should be up shortly though but most people would rather play with custom music and colors during tournament play anyways and we also don’t have all the characters unlocked either so another reason why were gonna end up with a DC in the house.
Wilmer: I am pretty sure there is no “lag” on the CVS2 game itself on a PS2 on CRT TVs. Never heard of that one.
I don’t “think” we are going to have MVC2 unless it’s a side tournament because the problem is, we have to have people provide all these systems and such. TVs we can get, SYstems/games, it’s easier to pick up a PS2 more than anything else for CVS2. I would not run the game on a PS3, and I will ONLY run it on a CRT.
I am going to add Blazblue to the lineup for the evening. Anything else would be a side tournament but I am open to them as long as people want to run them.
i have a 19" CRT and i can provide my PS2 with CVS2 and 3S on the harddrive which will reduce loading times. i’m sure my friend jose will be happy to provide his DC and his custom copy of mvc2 and his converter. i need to find my DC system but i have plenty of copies of cvs2 and mvc2 for the DC which i’ll provide if needed.
Well, I’m down to fly with you. If you plan to leave a couple days early give me some advance notice if possible, I’ll have to schedule some PTO days. Some more of the Nashville crew might want to fly down. (Make this season’s ranbat winnings a plane ticket to Miami so Eugene can go!LOL)
not exactly we have 3 console set ups here with arcade style setups, here are the setup configurations:
Setup 1: 47" Sony 1080p LCD mounted on the wall with Xbox 360 and 2 TE 360 sticks which are bolted down to the custom made wooden cabinet (they are not gonna come out they are stuck there) if you rather play with with ur own stick or pad there is a USB hub to connect ur stick or pad.
Setup 2: 47" Sony 1080p LCD mounted on the wall with PS3 and 2 Perfect 360 with 6 sanwa buttons bolted down to a custom made metal cabinet. This setup will have the PS3 swapped for a 360 due to players complaining about lag and the fact that 360 is 1080p and ps3 is 720p. you can also connect ur stick or pad here.
Setup 3: Sony “30ish” 720p CRT with PS3 and 2 TE PS3 sticks also bolted down like setup 1 has on a custom made wooden cabinet. you can also connect ur stick or pad here.
a 4th setup is in the works and should be here in the near future and should also feature a similar setup with TE sticks and perhaps another LCD on the wall. it should be up by the South Florida Challenge.
no other consoles everything else is arcade cabinet. U are welcome to bring any game you would like to play on any non tournament nights. now if we show up and want to play SFIV ur game will be kicked to the curve in a hurry. SFIV is on 24/7.
