Genesis had a little bit of everything and was strong in most departments, except RPGs(and maybe racing). The Shining force and Phantasy Star series are likely pretty good, but i’ve never been an RPG fan(Panzer Dragoon Saga only RPG i’ve ever beaten).
Tried to sit down and beat Mega Turrican for Genesis. Excellent run & gun but…that shit so hard!!!
Yes. The first Final fight is a fantastic game and all-time great that defined the beat’em up genre but, its the only stellar entry in the series. FF2 & FF3 just lacked the magic and don’t hold up to the competition you mentioned above. Which is funny, seeing as how Capcom only made the sequels because nintendo asked them to in response to Streets of Rage.
I rented Shatterhand back in the NES days. The cover artwork drew me in. And i love Ninja Warriors for the SNES!! Great music, great gameplay, great graphics, and cool characters. Its up there with other notable beat’em ups in my opinion.
All three consoles were balanced but when I said “strength,” in a certain category, that console’s library had the edge over the others, in quantity, quality or both.
Even back in the day i didn’t like that one. Music, graphical, style, generic characters, presenatation, and gameplay. Uggghh!
Piece of crap that should have stayed on Sega’s cutting room floor. I think this was a western-developed title too, fitting given most western efforts of the time.
Glad im not the only one that cannot stand the snes final fights, it’s a shame because 3 had alot of potential.
As much as i do like alot of designs for characters of the 90’s i LOL at my mate dean, what were they thinking
bought virtual on for 5 bucks with case and D for 3 dollars with case.
i was curious as to why it was so cheap and when i looked at their stickers it turned out they had been mislabeled as sports games.
biggest problem with the gensis was the lack of saving games. Looking back you could save your game in almost any snes game, the 3 button controller was other bad idea. Since most fighting games used 6 buttons
That is one thing that sucks when you think about it. A lot of the old games we love will never get a true sequel since a lot of the old teams the produced them don’t even exist anymore. The game makers are all over the place now.
