I agree with Teki on this ( i think this is andy? ). Nickel city locations the majority of them are just there for profit and ticket games and family business. They could care less about tournies and such. Although i heard nickel is under new management since a couple years now, the old nickel staff used to work with the local SD people and fix the machines and let us do tournies etc. However that isnt the case anymore. Places like Plaza Bonita are better spots for doing tournies in a sense because at least the management and/or staff is into the game community and listens to the people. Only problem SD has ever had is we dont have a " true " arcade place like LA does ( I.E. FFA,AI,James Games, etc…). I know im not helping with the problem, but just throwing out some known facts that people may not understand and maybe give some insight for the future on how to get a good tourney running sometime if ever.
lets be honest here… outside of FFA (which i dont even think is worth driving to unless youre trying to get godlike at 3s) nobody has a “TRUE” arcade. But yea. props to the nigga Gene for atleast attempting to set some shit up.

i’m pretty sure a tech guy would have to be sent to nickel to get the sticks fixed, but my question is how much will that cost for that service. cause i’m sure nickel isnt gonna pay for it.

well i went down to nickle today thinking there was a tourney only to hear it was postponed
not that i’m mad, actually to my surprise there were still a lot of people who came out today to play. usually nickle doesn’t have many people playing the fighting games but at least people are willing to play in a tournament there. or at least the local folk.
sure the sticks aren’t up to greatest par (and damnit, after a few trips to AI, i use to hate those sticks but now i can’t get over them) but i still say a tourney should still happen down here
its just postponed, its going to happen. My friends Phobos and Bean came down with me today and we found all the problems after testing all games. We told the manager and HOPEFULLY this time he’ll listen(since this time he actually took out a piece of paper to take down what was wrong).
3s sticks are ok, just get used to them. they’re slanted to that’s the main problem.

You guys just don’t understand, the sticks at nickel cannot be fixed, only replaced. There’s nothing the manager can do to make the 360s work any better then it is now. If you had any clue about joysticks, you would know that they don’t make 360s like they use to anymore. The batch of 360s nickel got are the new types which has always been known to have problems such as… not blocking down low. It’s really rare to find 360s that are perfect, like back in the days of Golfland, simply because they don’t make those types of 360s anymore. That’s why a lot of arcades are frequently having so much problems with 360s. Some places like James Games have even replaced the joysticks to Supers or Ultimates.
The fact that the joysticks will never seem as if it’s broken means the shady manager will never replace it. and that’s pretty much why nickel died when we were playing.

Amen. I love 8-ways because you actually know if you’re doing the move you want to do like blocking down-left etc. 360’s just feel rubbery and sometimes really stiff so when you want to do something it just doesnt feel like you’re doing it right :looney:
I say throw this tourney on February 3rd.
