These are the final results of our Favorite Comic Book Characters poll that took place during the month of November that took place here -

As you can imagine lots of characters got voted on (about 30 characters had 2 votes a piece!!!) so things really started to take shape once the characters got 3 votes or higher. Since there are a lot of ties it’s hard to do a numbered listing. So the characters are separated by the number of votes they got and placed in reverse alphabetical order in their brackets, seemed convenient to me since we are going from the lowest highest heh! In parenthesis you will find the companies that are behind the comic books based on these characters. For Marvel and DC I didn’t always elaborate except for special occasions to keep things brief. However I went a bit more in detail with the non Marvel and DC characters that made the cut, writing the names of the comics they came from along with their publishers. I listed identities on occasions where there are several different people who share/shared the same costume/superhero identity. There are a few characters who mostly go by their birth names now I listed their costumed names as well as an aside. In total we have 45 characters listed! Aaaaand, heeeeeeere we go! :wink:

That’s insanely cool since it was Are_you_okay’s idea to start something like this and his favorite comic book character wound up taking the prize! :tup:

Special thanks to everyone who came out to vote and made this poll possible. In the process while validating a lot of the votes, I learned about a lot of characters that I didn’t know about before so thanks again. :pray: Here are all of the voters. I voted too obviously but who cares lol -

I still have no idea how to run a fantasy comic book league. There is a Soap Opera fantasy league, maybe if I study up on how that works we can do something like that. I hope Zeph and Lint will help me out a lot with that one…

Sweet list, I’m knew Deadpool and Bru’s work would place high on this list, even if Batman took the top spot (Oh yeah, I knew he’d place high but not that high). But from my counting Marvel won the overall pole with 31 characters to DC’s measly 10. Also, out of the top five only one is DC, so you can’t complain that much :woot:.

Was a cool idea to do and looks much better than the other ones I’ve seen, thank god there is no Spawn on this list or any Newspaper strip characters like Archie and fucking Garfield.

I do like the idea of the Fantasy League, maybe separate into teams with each company and do it like that. Though I don’t see many recruits to DC…

In answer to the link posted, I would like to see an Astro City poll and see who the hell knows who those characters are lol. Samaritan ring a bell to anyone here? How about Cracker Jack? I even voted for my favorite Astro City character and he didn’t place, though I expected as much. :sad:

In any poll having to do with comics, anything that isn’t put out by one of the two major houses doesn’t stand much of a chance.

Yeah enough people have asked for a fantasy comic book league by now, we still have the problem of how exactly to run it and for how long. And keeping track of characters is another problem. I would need A LOT of help and people REALLY need to be dedicated to the characters they choose to stay on top of things.

Marvel and DC is even more problematic because the character you like can have something hella major happen to them in the last page of a comic book no one cares about at all, things will fall through the cracks. Wikipedia and sites like that are good with keeping track of things, but not that good (and not always accurate). This kind of thing lends itself better to non Marvel and DC characters where you can just keep reading what you are reading since said characters only appear in that book and you can go about your business like always.

Football, Soaps, these things are hell of a lot easier because all you have to do is watch the games, read the paper or go online to find out who did what… so you can find out what’s up in either free or cheap ways. Comics take another level of dedication for this kind of thing.

Always open to ideas and I would like to run it next October/November or so. Still have to figure out exactly how to go about it…

The only fantasy league involving comic book characters I could ever possibly be interested in is that idea we had last year about Comic Book Character Fantasy Football. Unfortunately, I think that notion died because no one trusted anyone else to be a respectable commissioner.

Sano how about making another poll/voting in some 6 months? Only this time make it something like ‘Your fav. X-Men’ or ‘Your fav. DC character’.
