Resident Evil (Questions & Discussions) Thread

Noted. A friend of mine has the collection for GC and is gonna let me borrow his Wii to play it. Lol, he said the same thing you said.

yes please dont start the series with cv!! it will make you hate the series because theres so much pointless backtracking and it would set a bad example for you if you want to play the rest of the series

i would recommend remake like mentioned or re2 (i think it was available on gamecube right?) and start from there

start with this order re2 > remake > re3 > CV > re4.

remake is only like $10 at gamestop.

i really think he should start with remake because imo i think its the scariest out of the series, then re2. i wouldve said re1 on psx but i think its too outdated

but i definitely think cv/x should be the last game you should play

as for the changes in remake(off the top of my head)

  • crimson heads
  • lisa trevor
  • updated graphics (duh)
  • crimson head boss
  • harder difficulty
  • less ammo

this isnt just a run of the mill remake…they really remade everything for the most part from scratch

end discussion.

The changes…

Are they good or bad or somewhere in the middle?

Awesome.

The only problem I had with REmake was that the difficulty was hella unblanced.

You could get the GC collection for 40 bucks: REmake, RE0 and RE4 in a set.

Wait just a mintue werent you the one saying the gamecube was crap and all that and thats why you never played remake or zero?

I dont think that game remake or zero can come on PC because they would have done that way after, I mean resi4 is on PC and thats a recent game.

All the resi games are on the cube 0-4/CVX.

and yes Remake is super hard I cant stress how hard it is, they might as well have just given you a knife, bullets are a waste of time, takes a full clip to kill a normal zombie most times, you’re only hope is that they fall down.

Remake is the hardest in the series if you beat that then the others will feel easy, so yea best start of hard.

If you want to follow the storyline then obvioulsy you need to play Zero before, that games alot easier because theirs two of you, lol sure helps when your in a room full of zombies.

i dont think remake is super hard or anything but it does make you think of how to play the game and thats part of the reason why i think its the scariest. the game is actually survival horror…its all about playing the game conservatively…as far as ammo goes. or if you dont youd most definitely would have to start over in the middle of the game with a million crimson heads after you. which is not a good look because there IS some backtracking (theres backtracking in all re games but not to the level of cv/x)

actually i think the order a newcomer to the series should be like this:

remake, re2, re3, re0, re4/recv/x

id like to make re4 and cv/x interchangeable because re4 is not a survival horror game imo and recv/x just has too much backtracking easily making it the worst of the series (at least in my book)

i know all of my posts sound hateful towards cv/x but i did enjoy it for the most part. it is definitely the longest re and it did come out with some creative monsters but the pointless backtracking is just…pointless. just thought id get that out there lol

and i forgot the mention another change of remake was the “get off me bitch!” weapons for lack of a better term

certain items like grenades and knives could keep you from getting bit by a zombie if you equip them then you can either run away or kill it

Wait… I take it you guys are saying the game is quite the “challenge” in the Remake? Like almost/equally/worst than DMC3 for newbs?

yes its a bad game for newbs to start because they dont understand the concept…its easy to say conserve your ammo but its hard to actually do because you wanna kill everything that lives lol…but you cant do that in remake because ammo is scarce and zombies are really hard to kill compared to other games. plus they can come back to life as crimsons which are 4x as bad as regular zombies. basically if you kill a zombie make sure you

  1. burn the body or
  2. decapitate it.

theres a problems with those solutions though because theres not much fuel around and most weapons arent capable of decapitating zombies so the best thing is to run unless you really have to kill something (bosses) or youre certain youre not going to be in that area again.

crimson heads are no joke…they run, they have claws, they inflict more damage and are much harder to kill

and then you have chimaras (sp?), hunters, dogs etc. its just too much for a newb but an experienced re player shouldnt have many problems playing the game since they know what to expect

Well kinda the 1st section you’re on a train, then you crash into a mansion, and no its not the same mansion from RE1 its actually one just above it.

I thought that was a bit silly but I guess you need somewhere to play.

Also you would think after that Rebecca would be more used to seeing zombies in RE1

like doujinshi_2001 says its easy for you to get yourself screwed to the point where you have no ammo and low health and a whole bunch of zombies waiting for ya, you wont have no choice but to start again.

his right in that you only kill when you need too, this anit RE3 where you can blast for fun.

Not only is there not much fuel but there loctions are spaced out so you might have a zombie dead way over on the other side of the mansion but need to go real far to get the fuel and comeback.

You can time it, the zombies will comeback to life after an hour, so if you dont need to go back that way no probs.

once you learn how to play remake, you’ll play pretty much every re game the same way. by the end of the game you’ll have a lot of ammo

I have fond memories of the first time I stuffed a grenade in a Hunter’s mouth. That shit should have been kept in the later games.

YES! It should’ve. god that function was boss.

Tazer fto.

RE1remix has inf ammo glitch for Jill grenade launcher(USA ver. only I think?)

@ tigerboi: damn that av is way to good

anyway that was a cool aspect of remake. some real cool ideas they had imo which shouldve been in re4 and probably wouldve made more sense for it to be in there. i mean come on, leon has a suplex and kick for god’s sake!

That’s Ben Bertulucci, a news reporter. He gets infected with the G-Virus and the parasite left his body.

i actually wish ben wouldve stayed alive. ben is kinda cool because of his arrogant and cocky attitude unlike chief irons
