Resident Evil (Questions & Discussions) Thread

It didn’t get cancelled, but it got delayed to a TBA thing. The short interview on IGN stupid Insider thing gives hints. You gotta be a Insider to see it, but there are ways around that :wgrin:

It wasnt coming out till 2009 anyway, and I sent a rant message to this bitches myspace (ask this black woman). wonder if she’ll respond. Doubt it since I dont see how she can justify anything she said.

EDIT: heres what she said.

I don’t post anything to get attention, but interestingly, out of all the controversial stuff I’ve written about over the past year, this has gotten the most response. Which is a little surprising to me because, honestly, I know very little about gamers and the gaming industry. My focus, both in terms of my studies in college and my political leanings, has always been images and representations of Black people…period…and how those images and representations (propagated both by non-Black folks as well as Black people ourselves) impacts our lives and economic reality.

I never stated that the storyline of RE5 was racist. I stated that the images of Black people (zombies or not) being slaughtered: (A.) caused an immediate and visceral reaction that was problematic given the historical and contemporary situation of racism experienced by Black people (B.) Because this game appears to be set in African and given the atrocities that occur in African against Black Africans everyday (and since colonizations) that it was problematic to promote such images.

Look…I’m not a gamer, so I don’t have that detached since of…hey, it’s just a game. I see Black people being killed and it causes me to want to write about it, politicize it, and question the motivations of it.

And keep in mind, I am not the first to write about RE5 and the images of Black people. When I wrote my initial post, I was responding to an article written by a white woman. The difference has been the response. I received racial pejorative after racial pejorative and I even received death threats. She wasn’t called the horrific things I was called by gamers, and I think that’s interesting to think about. While we can discuss racially provocative images in RE5 or video games in general… the sad reality is that the majority of the gamers leaving comments on my blogs have resorted to the same racism they deny. Ironic.

Anyway… Have a good day.

Who the hell is this “white woman” she was responding to, and what did she say?

She was highly hypocritical.

She only posted the racist comments on the blog, but couldn’t refute the 98% of them that weren’t racist.I am Black and the article pissed me off so much that I wasn’t surprised that it attracted racists. You write that type of jibber-jabber,don’t be surprised to get a few jibber-jabber responses.

She replied a few times in the original article saying that she would borrow Resident Evil 4 from her 10 year old Nephew(Bad parenting alert).

She sould play RE 0-4 and realize that until this RE all zombies have been exclusively white. The only black zombie I remember was that police officer in RE 2. I think RE is just going through the racial spectrum right now. I’ll bet you that 6 will take place in China or some other eastern country. Hopping ghost ftw.

Leon: Watch out Ada! They know kung fu and plan to take over the world by opening large chains of convenience stores with reasonably priced tube socks!

Ada: …motherfucker.

God I really do hope RE6 is in China. That shit would rock.

takes a bow

Her words are as empty as her soul.

I was just watching Resident Evil, the movie…

10 Parts [Thanks YouTube]: Watched 9 of them, the second I click 10/10…

Goodnight YouTube, love ya.

CV also had that strange black dude that let Claire out of her cell (Rodrigo Raval)…and that nigga who got his head bitten off by the very first zombie in RE 1 (Kenneth Sullivan).

And those are the only black RE characters that come to mind…

Don’t forget a bout Marvin from RE2 and ourbreak who gets bit and turns into a zombie.

Then there’s the guy in RE3 who blows himself up with a grenade after being shot by Nicholai.

but quite honestly, the amount of black characters that die has nothing on the amount of white characters that die. case closed.

ANYWAY, this is a game, not a racial issue, so who besides me thinks that chick in the trailer is Jill.

It’s most likely Sherry. Blonde hair, blueish-green eyes, and in a stasis tube.

Last we heard about Sherry was at the end of Wekser’s report where he said that Sherry was in his hands. It would make sense that she’s in the tube for testing purposes; possibly has something to do with G-Virus research.

Although I won’t rule out the possibility of Jill making a cameo or even being a supporting character. I know Capcom will update us on her whereabouts and she may even be a part of the same organization as Chris is - along with Barry and probably Carlos. That’s my guess.

Rodrigo was hispanic, his name gives it away too.

They should change the name of the game to Resident Negro just for kicks.

Bah.

RE 1 PS1> RE4 GC> RE2 PS1> RE1 Remake GC and those are the only ones that matter.

I never played any resident evil as much as the original. It was way ahead of its time and spawned a metric shit ton of ripoffs. It was the only one that made me jump (dog jumping through the window, anyone and tyrant ski-clawing towards you on the rooftops, anyone?)… until RE4 when I heard a chainsaw start up and I said “Fuck” and started spinning circles.

Of course after one, I was salivating for two, which was graphically superior, but ultimately a let-down. Still a good game though. The GC remake was good for nostalgia sake, but they removed all the golden moments from it.

…what exactly was removed?

He’s probably referring to the firt time the dogs come through the window in the original. It was placed later on in the remake when you wouldn’t expect it. When you think about it, wouldn’t that kinda recreate the scare all over agin since you weren’t expecting it? Also, they added plenty of new scenes that made you jump. The only thing I prefer from the original to the remake is the opening, but thats more for nostalgia than anything else.

In my eyes, REmake > original RE. Although, I hated the slowdown issues that every cutscene had; it really took me out of the moment.

About the whole racist card, if anything, that lady crying racism should actually praise the game. These zombies are the smartest zombies yet! Truth.
