Resident Evil (Questions & Discussions) Thread

Just knocking random shit over.

A fucking Plus.

Did I miss something?

No, people keep adding actors and characters to the RE5 IMDB list just to start rumors. Some of the VA’s that have responded have said they haven’t heard of the game.

There were some stuff that people remember about RE4. Mainly the knife battle between Krauser and Leon, the novistadors, the regenerators, the chainsaw guy,and the IT fight.

Nobody gave a shit about El Gigante??? All three of the gigante fight including the one where you were fighting two of them were fun and exciting. Yeah there was no enemy stalking you like nemesis but the RE4 really didn’t need that.

If anything RE4 was the spark that jumpstarted the series in a fresh direction. Zombies are cool to shoot but i’ll take fighting villagers that’ll actually run after your ass anyday of the week.

the IT/U3 fight was kinda lame imo but then again so were all boss fights in re4 and bosses never were really a huge concept for re games i dont think

del lago was kind of a cool idea though

also i really dont consider the two el gigante fight actually two el gigantes unless you just wanna fight two of them at the same time since you can ggpo one right off the bat

i wouldn’t say all action. i’d say more action/suspense. There were a couple of ā€œOH SHITā€ moments sprinkled here and there but with the way the story was going with the umbrella being gone there would’ve been no way to throw in zombie’s anyways.

I can understand people feelings on the previous games but u can’t deny that RE4 set the bar way above the previous games. Besides zombies in RE4 wouldn’t have worked.

On a ā€œlets attract new gamersā€ scale, I can’t deny that RE4 went above the previous games and I wouldn’t mind seeing the new style being used for every other RE game after it. But RE4 added so little to Resident Evil itself. A single camera change and more action-oriented gameplay and everyone who hated the others falls over themselves for it.

However, they took out too much. It isn’t the lack of zombies or Umbrella, that I mind, it’s that it’s pretty much just shooting people. If I wanted to just shoot people, I’d play Gears of War or Max Payne, games that do it better. RE should be about you getting somewhere, being attacked by a shitload of monsters with limited ammo, worrying about whether you can get through the next room. If RE4 added that back in, the game would be hard as hell but far more satisfying.

I’m not trying to construct a logical argument, I’m making fun of people for liking bad games. And I’m killing time at work.

lol, ā€œknow my Resident Evilā€. Like I really need to know the entire history of a game series to tell the difference between a good game and a piece of shit.

I like the original RE for different reasons than 4 and vice versa. They each have elements that work for them. It’s like trying to compare the movies Alien and Aliens…one is more suspense and minimal action, the other is more action and less suspense. Both are great, but for different reasons.

You gotta a good point.

I have to ask though have you played the game on Professional mode cause it ALMOST gives you that whole feeling of ā€œbeing attacked by a shitload of monsters with limited ammoā€ feel. To me this mainly came from the castle area and the prison island areas though.

the Verdugo was the best boss fight in RE4. It reminded me of one of those aliens from the Alien movies. Plus it actually had that whole classic RE feel to it when you were fighting it in the sewers.

yellow fever man…Leon got it…and shit spreads faster than the T-Virus ever will…if wesker got ahold of how Yellow fever works…he’d be godly

 Resident evil for x-box 36o?

I liked resident evil 4, my only complaint was it was pretty easy. Like real easy.

The old RE’s had some awesome moments,
Licker breaking through the glass in that small room.
Blowing off a zombies leg’s and the thing keeps comming.
The Shot gun!
(RE 1 down stairs where rebecca waits in the room) You go down the stairs and see shadow-y figures with the glowing eye’s. You aim at one but by then another one has leaped and cut your head off. :looney: And you DIDN’T save the game. Ahh good times, good times.

The wesker/ veronica fight
The wesker/ chriss fight

The ending!!
Chriss: Were going to shut down umbrella! (iirc)

She has been in two games similar to Leon.

Resident Evil 2,and about 75% of RE:Code Veronica is played with Claire before you switch over to Chris,so most likely they will wait a little while longer before having her star in another game(Which is what I guess).

Really? It seemed like the old RE games where about being attacked by a shitload of monsters, walking past them or pushing them down and getting through the next room with no problem.

It was always the faster moving or bigger guys that made the RE games fun, so I didn’t mind RE4 being filled with them. The lickers, the headhunters, Mr. X, crimson heads, etc. In older RE games I’d purposely walk into a group of zombies just so I could push them all down and walk past them without wasting ammo. That’s not tension. That’s not horror. That’s what happens when 80% of the enemies in the game pose no actual threat to you.

I dunno about that…in any acse does RE HAVE to stick to the Survial Horror Genre they cemented? why can’t it be allowed to move in a new direction? this is the problem Capcom has always had…stick to the same formula…people bitch it’s MORE of the same…change it? People Bitch it’s not the CLASSIC setup we all learned from the start. but you know what? you end up playing it just the same

to be honest, ok so you have that element in RE…well the I shall run off to another room and think of a plan…dude, that alone can stop the moment of horror…so RE4 ain’t like the others…you STILL going to comaplin about it? after this many posts and a few years of it being out?

Absolutely nothing. But then, I never said RE4 was scary

Hmm? There’s been a rocket launcher in damn near every RE game, hasn’t there? Grenade launchers too. There’s also been molotov cocktails, submachine guns, assault rifles, ingrams and flamethrowers. What are you talking about?

…who?

there’s no such thing as ā€œwesterā€.

i dont remember ANYTHING from part 3 other than it was called nemesis…and the mini game…you are SERIOUSLY tripping if you think 3 is better than 4…like tripping hard…that game did nothing revolutionary at all…the level of thought that was put into part 3 is like 1/10 of what was put in 4…whatever though…

it is not about graphics it is about the gameplay, and gameplay wise i think re4 is the best out of the 4…the others might have had more suspense/horror/story or whatever you guys are going crazy about, ill give you that, although it is debateable but ill just let it go…but the gameplay of 4 is rediculous it added a level of realism to the game that the others lacked…being able to aim, being able to affect certain body parts, aim for them…have a more first person feel to it rather than an omnicent feel…have a fast paced feel to the game…

anyway…

im outi

Roberth

His being saying that since he started posting here at first I thought it was a typo but after 10 times I figured he actually meant to type that.

Heat:

did nothing revolutionary at all?

Can you name me another game from that time and even now where you have a relentless enemy hunting you through out the game?

He wasnt just a boss, that guy chased you down non stop like the Terminator.
