I believe they are the other side in multiplayer, sort of how cs has terrorist vs. counter-terrorist. I think its dumb that they send strike teams down there before nuking it anyways but then again it’s probably just data they are after.
A cool theory I heard randomly from somewhere, even though this game will have non-canon events, is that the reason why the government takes interest in Leon is because they see how he deals with the outbreak. I wonder if they will go the route where only certain missions or events are canon, like some umbrella corp and some spec-op missions will fit in canon nicely and others won’t. It won’t be the first time a game company tries to fit every story detail in places (Just look at the megamn franchises and how they fit together).
Nah in RE5 they explained that Umbrella(Spencer/Wesker) were merking everybody that knew anything about Umbrella/them… if you knew anything, you were found and you were killed…
It was crazy fucked up the extent they went through to keep all information suppressed…
I wouldn’t be surprised if the Umbrella Special Ops Team(the people you play with) weren’t merked after they did what they were assigned to do because they knew too much…

Umbrella sent various teams into Raccoon City. Some of them were there to genuinely help to their knowledge (Carlos’ team, other than Nikolai) and were used mainly to test the effectiveness of B.O.W’s. Others like this squad, Nikolai, HUNK’s team and the like were there to collect specific hard data and to evaluate the process.
And yeah that Licker got owned to easily, I got a bit salty at it, Lickers were about the only creatures to really scare me in RE (Well, other than Spiders but fuck them).
Yea they were sent to gather data but it just seems that in the end they just went with the Resident Evil solution of blowing everything up to shut everyone up. Umbrella technically went down as a company afterwards anyways, just the main people went elsewhere doing the same things Umbrella would do.
Funny thing about seeing a Licker being owned with a knife, in the new RE film coming out this year (Damnation I believe), Leon probably is gonna own lickers by the dozens since he is up against a hoard of them in the trailer.
They nuked it to cover it up, after they got all the information they needed. Both Ada and HUNK got out alive as far as we know, and Umbrella continued for a while before public pressure, internal drama and the like crumbled it. (Probably in part by Wesker and others looking to use the technology for their own devices).

Too be fair, the 3d one were better than the live-action ones. It seemed to fit the tone of the post RE4 universe where they are all action heroes (well in the movie just Leon since all Claire had was one action sequence). The live action films though, Milla Jovovich and Paul Anderson need a new gig, it seems like this is the only thing they do now.
3D one still sucked, but was the best RE film to date (Not counting live action RE1 scenes).
so you actually defeated the 3 knights w/ a knife!? prior to RE5’s release i attempted a RE4 no hit, no miss, full clr(killed all enemies, obtained all emblems/items), knife only run at the hardest difficulty. all went well until i ran into those darn knights. i just couldn’t defeat them, it really takes an exceptional amount of spatial awareness combined with a heavy understanding of their atks to succeed… unless there’s some hidden tactic i’m missing. aside from the knights, other parts i found particularly troubling were clearing the grand hall of all enemies, getting through the cabin invasion unscathed, and saving ashley from the zealots.
as mentioned earlier, they are the spec ops. seems each member of the uss wolfpack has a counterpart on the opposing team, which coincidentally happens to be of the opposite gender. i’m guessing:
lupo(assault, team leader) = short hair dude
beltway(demolitions expert) = redhead chick
4 eyes(field scientist) = black dude
bertha(field medic) = big bald dude
vector(recon, close combat specialist) = chick that knifed the licker
spectre(surveillance, sniper) = blonde chick
spec ops team: harley, tweed, shona, dee ay, willow, party girl
I died a lot and I had help. I attempted a knife run a long time ago but when I did it there were vids of it being done and I copied what they did. When I was trying to do it by myself, I got freaking chopped up when focusing on one. Trying to keep all 3 in view is important because they have startup on their attacks so you can backup. I also learned that you should focus on one at a time because if 2 come out with plagas head it makes it harder. It’s an endurance run after you start getting it down though.

^^ah yes! i wish i had seen that before giving up, it definitely would’ve given me some hope. at the time i just couldn’t figure out a consistent way to hit the plagas. it truly is a test of endurance and patience. only once i made it to the second set of knights, which are much easier, but i got too comfortable and ended up getting hit.
perhaps if i can find my save i will give it another go, i just hope there aren’t any other moments as bad further in the game.

You are doing no hit? I’m nowhere good enough to do that. But some parts like the mine cart was annoying and having a plagas right in front of you when someone throwing crap at you is annoying because I need to smack the flying axe and stun the plagas in the head before it can swipe.
I want to see someone beat RE4 without roundhouse kicks, those are really the best damn thing ever.
WOW and here I thought it couldn’t be done. kudos to that man for that vid. I prided myself on doing every challenge out there except the pure knife run because I knew I’d pull out my hair with it. done just a handgun on RE4 on GCN long ago but not for 360.
