RE for Horror purposes has been dead for a while, if it was even there (Only games that creeped me out were RE2 and the first Survivor…the last mostly due to the experiments and what was involved.) So in that aspect I don’t really care.
Since this isn’t a “true” sequel in the series I’ll treat it like any other side RE thing, just as it is, comparing it to the main story and the quality and style of those games isn’t fair. But it’s still dumb of Capcom to promise scares in a 3rd person shooter where I can melee combo Zombies with no fear, take zombies hostage, and have gas station shootouts with the Spec Ops.
Scary? No, creepy though it could be. I though Birkin was like the greatest and had some kinda odd vibe moments. Then the sounds of zombies shuffling and moaning off camera, never knowing exactly where they were is just very iconic to me. Only thing that scared ME in the games were the giant spiders, I have arachnaphobia so even shitty polygon giant spiders make me into a little girl.
Ammo/weapons things never came up to me, I learned at the age of nine how to micro-manage my shit in RE/RE2. I mainly used the pistol and rare occasions the Shotgun until about the third act where I had about 200+ Shotgun shells and 128 (I remember exactly how much lol) Magnum shells and would just blaze my way through the end.
Think that is why I disliked Claire’s campaign so much, it was hard to find a good secondary weapon for her and then ammo. Grenade Launcher while good, had fucking random ammo everywhere, I could never consistently get enough of the same ammo to justify blazing through. The Crossbow was ass, shock thing was ass, so naturally she just had a tougher time in my hands. It did teach me how to master dem tank controls though.
I still have PSone copies of RE, RE2, and RE3 plus Survivor. Since I lost my PSone memory card I just do “Iron man” challenges on my PS2 when I need mah fix. But I plan to rebuy a Wii soon, and get UC again, and the Dark whatever chronicles with it.
Also want to play REmake again since I never finished it all the way, my disc got busted.
I still have RE5, thought about playing it again…if only to punch boulders.
DBG the single set CCG that came out at some point last year? I have never played it, but the artwork and pad looked interesting.
I don’t hate Capcom, although I am not a devoted fan like I was say five years ago, they just seem to dumb down their proper series’ and just kind of…I don’t know, make everything rather mediocre these days.
I play a lot of board games, card games, some not even collectible. I know I was initially interested in it then it just completely disappeared from my radar. So I just went and bought plastic little war men and forgot lol.
I’m playing through the original 3 and I’m trying to go through them with a sense of canonicity so far I’ve done RE:DC with Chris, now I’m doing the first half of RE3 then I’m going to do Claire’s game A and Leon’s B then finish the rest of RE3. Does that make sense story wise?
Your making it sound way to complicated B. Instead of “OG 3” just say your playing the Raccoon City events all in order. But what is RE: DC? Dreamcast?
