isnt mikami working on a new survival horror game as we speak? it would be interesting if he took a more supernatural lane for it.
I would say so. I have fun when I’m running around doing whatever. But when it comes to things like qtes and cutscenes interrupting the gameplay, it breaks the game flow. I’m going through my first playthrough and I recommend setting it on pro. It definitely feels great because mistakes can cost you your life. Though some people aren’t into that thing. I think people should try to play this not like a tps, or a least like a normal cover shooter. I have fun trying to slide into enemies and trying to beat the shit out of them.
well at least the music at the merc stage is good/catchy
The release date was moved up a month not a year. PR guys did say Capcom wanted to get the game out early. Being in the oven for that extra month could have done the game a lot of good
I don’t know about a year. It was a month like Hawk said, but there were reports of Capcom running the development team into the ground. Which is nothing brand new going by Japanese work ethics, but still.
RE6 had a 500+ development team. That’s a ton of people to overwork.
naww…more like this:
RE4 - MW1
RE5 - MW2
RE6 - MW3
Listen to the latest Giant Bombcast it starts at the 8:30 mark. Patrick who loved 5 said “it plays like shit”, then goes into detail about all the other problems it had. I’m just curious can those who have played 6 and listened to the bombcast give their input on Patrick’s opinion? It sounds like he points out some objective flaws.
4 Is one of my favorite games but the demo of 5 was kind of meh to me. What makes RE such a great franchise to most fans including me is that it makes shooting fun and has a creepy atmosphere but without that atmosphere it just becomes a decent shooter which is why the demo of 5 was just okay. Also the AI partner just felt out of place to me. I’m interested enough to buy 5 and 6 someday but not I’m not in a hurry and not expecting them to be as great as the first 4 RE’s were.
How old are you just curious? While, RE1 was the first game to explicitly label itself as as survival horror, there existed dozens of survival horror games before it. The genre is born from the popularity of 90’s point and click adventure games not Mikami.

Would be cool if he made the RE4 he originally intended to make with the ghosts an shit.
This is going to be my last post in this thread since i’m getting fed up with all stupid fcks saying how bad the game is.
I get a feeling alot of you have just been reading reviews instead of actually playing the game. I’m not a fanboy nor am i a diehard fan of ol’school survival horror. I started loving the series with RE4.
Why is RE6 getting hammered in reviews? I have 2 theories
-
The critics (and the peoples) fail to realize that RE stopped being survival horror pretty much after RE4.
Nowadays it’s more of a actiongame with loads of shooting and with loads of QTE’s and all dramatic shit there. -
Critics are deliberately hammering the game as a act of vengenace for capcoms controversial on disc dlc’s.
The story is great , which is rare for a RE game.
The controls are not bad , way better than RE5.
The graphics are the same as RE5.
The sound and music is probably the best since RE4.
The characters and the voiceactors are great all great.
The atmosphere and the scenery created is some of the best i’ve seen in a long time.
The enemies are COOL.
The game isn’t being finished in 1 sitting , even 2. It’s HUGE and offers you value for your money.
The overall gameplay can feel a bit uneven from times to times but the game is still a 8.5 or 9 out of 10 in my opinion.
And sure the game does include quick time events , but if you had problems with them you would have problems with alot of games today.
While people are still reading reviews and then saying how bad this game is … I’m doing co-op with a buddy and having a hell of a good time.
Sincerely
//Dan
I think I’m gonna start up jakes campaign next, ill put it on pro.
wtf, i got an S rank for my first try after unlocking school girl sherry in the urban chaos stage for merc.
meanwhile, i’m struggling with everyone else trying to get S.
must be dat machine gun.
Listening to some the podcast and I agree with the QTEs and the game taking control away on every possible moment. Stuff like bosses not reacting to stuff and game’s lack of feedback are things I never thought of. The boss thing isn’t a huge problem imo.
I regret getting last stand. At first it seemed really cool, since you do more damage and Samurai Chris picking up people and killing two birds with one stone is hilarious. On the other hand, random stray bullets take a bar off, dropped lanterns in catacombs hurt like hell, and doge pretty much almost put you almost in down state off one mistake. It doesn’t help that you explode a lot of heads trying to stun them, which means you miss out on time. I somehow manage to not die after being surrounded by wheezing fat dudes, red zombies, and dogs and got an A even though i felt like I was running around just trying to survive.
edit: I remember watching the Giant Bombcast before I got the game. I know the game doesn’t tell you anything. You learn the most basic of buttons and everything else you find yourself. But seeing how those guy play, even after saying it’s after many hours, they honestly sort of suck. They talk about how they didn’t learn about some things like rolling until 10 hours in, but some things I think they should learn by the time they spend that much time. Like 9:00 to 10:00, there is a Javo where he is constantly trying to melee. The reason why that’s happening as is (shrugging off the melee attack) is because obviously the chest has mutated and he got armor on it and plus the enemies also sometimes put up their arms after being hit by a melee to prevent you from doing a finisher on them.
And stuff at like 13:00 also makes me wonder if they learn something while playing. It’s not even professional so running out of ammo just means you really were inefficient and honestly screwed himself on that spot. Sort of how you can screw yourself on ammo in other RE. Now I know everyone can play a game anyway they want, but playing poorly after so many hours does make enjoyment pretty non-existent. I know that’s a fact, because some games I know I’m bad at that just ruin the fun. And it’s prevalent throughout the whole video and they are people who beat the game. I would sound pretentious in saying something like, “I only had this game 2 hours and I already play better than these guys!”, but honestly I think that’s true for me and a lot of us running through this game atm (I guess that means I am pretentious ).

When you start playing on that difficulty with advanced enemies coupled with real players your gonna be hungry for the next Qte
As far as I saw, I don’t see why you would want to buy (this game seems more like a rent or a game that should drop in price)t game over Borderlands 2.
Hell I rather get Dragon’s Dogama instead.
That western influence thing IMO, I don’t think all of Japanese developers are going to this route(Nintendo sure as fuck are too lazy too). IMO the graphics, cutscene, OTE was created because a fraction of japan thinks the west only care about that shit. I think RE6’s review is a wakeup call for them to realize that Capcom need more substance.
Before Resident Evil 1 there was no clear definition of what constituted a survival horror game. Hell the term didn’t even exist until Resident Evil 1 came out.
Yes there were games like Alone in the dark and Sweet Home that Resident Evil owes it’s origins to but ultimately it’s Resident Evil 1 that made a clear definition of “survival horror”.
27.
Jeff Tunnel would like a word with you.
The QTE argument is pretty exaggerated IMO. Sure, there are some annoying QTEs here and there, but most of the time it’s just context actions that have been around since RE4.
I think resident evil 6 aims to highlight the SURVIVAL in survival horror. What great games like Dead Space do is highlight the HORROR in survival horror. Why dead space is a great game is due to the fact the combat is very very simplistic.
I think Resi 6 fails in streamlining the game. People love games that are more linear because they love movies, Resi 6 is a video game inside of a movie not a movie inside of a video game, it kind of highlights the fact video games in its current form has hit a wall
Looking forward to VR/AR
