So now having replayed the demo with all the secondary characters I’m more comfortable with the controls. The camera is still the main issue however (the decreased field of view - FOV) and I can’t for the life of me understand why it is like this. Also for those who hate the retarded shaky aim there is a skill that you can get early on in the game that fixes that but why even bother at all I don’t know.
Also for anyone who complained that Sherry has too many weapons if you think back to RE4/5, especially 5, having more than 4 guns in your inventory was a hassle. At least by going right and left on the d-pad and up and down for grenade types you have access to everything in real time.
Also everyone try Helena’s Quick Shot with the Hydra. Very cool animation. Oh speaking of the Hydra wth did they do to it? It went from a crowd killing monster to a three shell shotgun. Let me fire all the shells at once!
I enjoyed the demo. And i’m certainly gonna enjoy the full game. That’s all i know for sure.
And if i would have to guess right now , at this moment , at this point … RE6 is gonna be a far better RE than RE5.
I don’t see why anyone would be complaining. Rejoice n be happy
Im not a fan of COD at all so the comparisons are just to backhand folks who enjoy the action. Chris’ chapter is what it is i mean im not CRAZY about it but its going to serve its purpose in the story. Very second-half of RE5…again it is what it is.
Jakes however will be more about meelee and being chased by the new nemesis. Comparing Jake and Chris is only working as we have only a demo to go off of.
Keep in mind the demo has powered up meelee and chris and jakes chapter dont have steady aim equipped.
Playing this game isnt hard but i feel like the speed runs and knife walkthroughs are going to take a considerable amount of effort on higher difficulties. I cant apologize for the custom controls all im saying is if you tailor them right you can make the experience what you want it to be, THE DEFAULT CONTROLS ARENT SPECTACULAR BUT YOU CAN FIX THAT! You can even change the camera pan while you run, that bit was annoying me.
Capcom really should patch that camera up. I love the game, but my disdain for that camera can’t be stated enough. My eyes be burning everytime I’m done playing the game.
Played through the demo again with the partner characters. It’s nice you can skip the shitty QTEs in Leon’s campaign when your playing Helena. I don’t have a problem with movement like everyone else seem to have. The camera makes movement much more of a bigger pain than anything else.
Is it really that much a hassle to move the right analog/camera as youre moving around? I thought that was a gamers natural reflex.
This isnt like Ninja Gaiden where the camera decided to give you a random scope of vison between 1 and 360 degrees. Are my standards low or something? There must be some game i havent played that doesnt require a manual camera.
I feel like asking you to tell me the parts where the camera is so unbearably bad…so i can try them myself is just setting myself up to be trolled.
Camera isnt that bad. Then again i think the camer is fine because for some reason I just use the right analog to adjust the camera. Expecting the camera to do something its obviously not going to do then making that the basis of your rant “the camera should be amart enough to follow you” is just stubborn and redundant after proclaiming how bad and how much you wont play it.
I didn’t find RE 4 “creepy” but I recently played re4 and re5 again, and RE4 at least had tension. I remember when I first played RE4 (this goes for re2 and 3 too), I HATED dying because I took it personal as if I actually died or something, and I didn’t like to have to use a lot of herbs.
In RE5, I just healed and ran through shit, not so much tension like in re4.
What people mean by the “camera” is their FIELD OF VIEW. It’s been diminished for the sake of, well I don’t know. If you go back to RE4/5 you will see that you will at least know what is going on around for a few feet in any direction. Now in RE6 if it’s not directly ahead and about 90 degrees to the right or left depending on the camera’s shoulder position you can’t see shit. This is a ridiculous blind spot to deal with for seemingly no reason. It’s freaking stupid to get blind sided so often by enemies because I can’t see 3 feet to the left or right. That camera sits too damn low and too damn close.
I mean just look at this RE5 video:

When Chris isn’t aiming you can see enemies in all directions still. No need to switch the camera’s position because it’s already in a good one. That’s only really needed when you are aiming down your sights. And you see what the camera does when your back is to the wall? It creeps up right over his shoulder so you can still see in front of you. Oh and how I miss that DEFAULT steady aim.
And also it’s true that making minor adjustments is a bit harder. It is so awkward that the character runs in a little circle to turn.
Plus after playing so many third person shooters and some especially from Capcom this failure on getting the basics right is pretty embarrassing. I don’t think a single third person shooter this generation has caused me as much grief like this when it comes to my field of view.
I feel like the only way to enjoy this game for real is after you’ve beaten it. Like playing through the demo a second time honestly only felt better because I knew what was coming so I exploited that knowledge. First time is more annoying than it is fun.
I haven’t said any of that tho. I actually haven’t played the demo. I was simply making a statement that a good camera should be able to follow the player but be interruptable when commanded. The RE Camera from 4 onward has always done a really good of sticking close and following the player but you where able to look more to the left or right if you wanted to. Now it sounds like you need to babysit it when this was never an issue before. For some games this works, like Vanquish a game where the camera is pulled a bit farther back and your hero is far more nimble, not to mention death is showering you from far more directions at far more distances.
I should also note I don’t think this is automatically a bad design decision, i wont know till i play it and get first hand experience. I could understand why an RE fan would be annoyed with it tho, especially after 4 and 5.
People also seem to be complaining that it’s much much too close and that there is a huge blind spot on the screen where they can’t see. That’s a legit issue no matter how you try to spin it.
This my friends is how the camera should be!

There is a rumor from someone digging in the demo files (not this one but another demo) that there is an option to set the camera to this position. If this is true then this game will be alright…ish. I’ll still be sore about my lack of inventory management and upgrades for weapons.
Tweaking the camera setting to try to get it to behave. Making the camera face the direction of the character for aiming did more harm than good. My character kept aiming the wrong way. Making the camera focus on the character made things more manageable.
Well, I find it due to being just a tougher game in general. RE5 was pretty damn easy for all intensive purposes, you didn’t have to think much. Things tend to get more tense when the difficulty spikes, or is just at a higher level to begin with. The RE’s before 4 weren’t terribly “difficult” (short of some annoying ass puzzles…RE3’s one of death being of note) but one stupid mistake with inventory could set you back big time, causing death…or a lot of backtracking and hell.
