Figures it was something that people should’ve read. Oh well.
lol, I read about him ranting for like half an hour about it. Seriously? A grown ass man, in his late 20s, cries for 30 minutes about a video game demo? For real? It just shows he has absolutely nothing important going on in his life. It is dangerous for a man his age to just sit around all day, doing nothing, and pretending to be doing good by interacting with people on youtube/the internet.
Otherwise, this whole needing the disc thing to get the demo is not, I repeat, NOT, new. Halo 3 and Halo Reach betas required Crackdown and ODST discs to be downloaded and used respectively. I believe even Gears of War 3 demo needed Bulletstorm’s disc. Why are all the hate now? And why just for Capcom? It is really annoying and sad to see people scapegoating Capcom for all the “perceived injustices and evils” we gamers have to go through sit on a couch. Its pathetic!
He’s whining because he can’t make $ off of his stupid let’s play channel
Anyone want to co-op? I didn’t try the online yet.

RE2 gave me nightmares when I was 13.
RE scared the shit out of me as a kid, in fact I didn’t grow up on RE like a lot of guys here because I avoided the franchise growing up due to that fear. It wasn’t until the GG remakes that I finally played a RE game, this later caused me to backtrack the series and it’s when I finally became a fan. Oddly enough though, while I didn’t grow up on RE cause I was a scared little bitch I did instead grow up on the SH games and been playing them since the beginning…I have no idea how that worked out.
Ok I played through the demo and I’m sorry this is probably the biggest problem in the game. I have others that might be a bit nit picky but this is unacceptable in 2012.
How do you go from RE4/5’s perfectly serviceable camera to what’s here in 6? I’m seriously asking. When you aren’t aiming your character takes up about a third of the screen. So basically from the top of your tv to the bottom of your tv on either the left or right side is nothing but your character. They killed situational awareness for the sake of what I don’t know, tension? When you actually do aim it’s of course WORSE because now the character takes up 30% of the screen so you have to swap between the camera being over your left and right shoulder just to get a better view of things. How does that improve the game at all? During Leon’s slower part I noticed but kinda shrugged it off. During Chris and Jake however it was an utter pain. Especially Chris. I’m getting shot at from all directions and I have a HUGE blind spot. Why did Capcom create a damn blind spot out of your character? Why do I need to see my character from head to knees from the top and bottom of the screen. Seriously. Everyone go back and play your favorite third person shooter and I bet you NONE of them pull retarded shit like this. Maybe, maybe they fixed the camera in the final release but I doubt it. This seriously makes an already clunky series even more clunky.
Edit: Playing as Helena in Leon’s campaign it’s more like 20% when not aiming is Helena and 33% when aiming. It also depends on the situation too. Like going downstairs pulls the camera back to a much more reasonable level but inside a tight corridor… ehhhh
Edit: Replaying Chri’s campaign as Piers and it seems that the camera is just retarded. Sometimes it’s fine and other times not so much. For instance. I go into low cover and when I aim up and over it I can see fine. I still have a blind spot but it’s not too ridiculous. However when I aim from the right side of the low cover Piers is taking up 40% of the screen and I can’t see the enemies that are to the above left at all.
Problem 2
My next problem is more of a nit pick but it’s something extremely basic in nature that a 6 year old could get right. Each campaign has it’s own menu system. I get having unique HUDs for health and what not but the menu system being unique for each campaign and this shit is in real time? Wtf why? Leon’s menu system works like a touch screen phone, Chris’s is a wheel, and Jake is, shit I don’t even remember and it was the last one I played. But seriously. SERIOUSLY. I think color and icon style are enough to differentiate between each campaign. I don’t… I don’t effing get it Capcom
Problem 3
I might be retarded so PLEASE correct me if I’m wrong but why won’t the health meter/ammo count stay on screen during combat? I’m thinking I turned off the option when I turned off the hints (GO HERE!) and if I did I think I’d still want to see how much damage I’m taking when I’m fighting. Especially with Jake and Chris who has gun toting bad guys and that big motherfucker running around. This is something else that is hella basic that RE4/5 and pretty much EVERY game gets right.
Problem 4
The Cover system was almost perfect until I got to low cover. See, the first time I used cover I ran up to a wall taller than Chris and then pulled the Left Trigger. He immediately went into cover. As long as I had it held he stayed and cover and when I moved to the edge of the wall he peaked out to fire his gun. However, when I wanted to do low cover I find out that I have to awkwardly press A and then he’ll go into low cover. Capcom do you know why games like Gears of War are so much fun to play? Because the cover button is ALWAYS the cover button. No finger gymnastics required.
TL;DR The biggest problem is honestly the camera being situated such that visibility becomes a major issue. The other stuff I can live with but that shit just makes me go…

Spent some time with the demo:
Controls: I spent most of my time during Leon’s section getting the game to play halfway as it should (wasn’t necessary in 4 or 5). It’s really odd that they don’t have the waypoint marker and hud display as a separate option. Not seeing your hud when you haven’t even played the game is kinda dumb, especially with how retarded the camera is. The aiming is fucked up. It was absolutely perfect in Resident Evil 4 & 5. I don’t know what the fuck happened here. Gears, Uncharted, and Dead Space feel* a lot* smoother in comparison. I might need to fuck with the settings more, because there is a disconnect with the laser and what I’m aiming at. Weird.
Camera: I get what they’re going for and I appreciate the ability to switch sides of the screen. It helps me clear rooms a lot more proficiently. That said, holy shit it’s so fucking close to the characters that it impairs your ability to see everything. Shit is fucked up. They need to pull it back some, especially while playing Chris’ campaign. It got in my way on more than one occasion. It’s not NG bad or anything, but yea.
They need to make the camera more like Dead Space 2… >:(
Graphics: Not even dwelling on this, it’s a demo. The game has screen tearing out of the ass though…
Leon: I enjoyed his section. Kinda dumb that they didn’t let you finish it and cut you off as soon as you killed five zombies. The atmosphere is there though. My one main issue (it’s going to be a reoccurring thing…) is the melee combat. I understand the difficulty is on easy/normal or whatever for the demo, but holy shit. You literally don’t need to press anything other than RT and melee everything to fucking death. They took away every bit of skill it took to do melee amongst crowds and dulled it down to the point where you can button mash to victory. If you get surrounded, so fucking what. You have a fucking counter and a dodge. If you choose to shoot bullets, you can mash out both triggers to do some auto-aim shoot everything around you bs. They should have kept it G and left that shit how it was in RE 4 / 5 and Dead Space.
The zombies have this weird ass delay between whenever the last bit of health leaves them and their death animation finally kicks in. Wasted hella bullets on that shit, because it’s difficult to tell when they were actually done.
Jake: Best campaign in the demo, easily. I thoroughly enjoyed playing as Wesker in Umbrella Chronicles / Mercs Mode. It’s really fun playing as Jake, for the same reasons. I want to go back and become super proficient with his fighting style. Calling it now, whenever Nemesis Lite isn’t involved, his campaign is going to be super fucking free to cruise through. I gave no fucks about bullets and played that shit like it was Vanquish. Why I’m playing like this in a Resident Evil title, I don’t even know…
Chris: This shit was ass solo, and it wasn’t because of the AI. There were so many times where I had absolutely no idea where to shoot, because of a mix of the camera being so fucking close and the environment being obscured due to the fov. The enemies suffer from the same nonsense as the zombies, in regards to knowing when to stop shooting. They have weakspots when they change, but…why bother when they’re on the ground? Just sprint -> dodge forward -> sprint -> Melee an enemy on the ground, and you beat the demo in record time. The enemies (whatever they’re called) have I frames when they’re climbing up the wall in the last section, so your melee hits don’t register when they’re climbing over. Not even Gears of War 2 did this dumb shit.
Combat in general: This shit is like a weird ass mix of GodHand, Vanquish, a Poor Man’s Resident Evil 4 (and 5), and Call of Duty and doesn’t feel as tight as the three series that copied RE4: Gears Of War, Uncharted, and Dead Space. It’s like, they got Jake’s section right and said what the fuck ever to the other stuff. I really don’t understand it.
I really need to see more and play a different section of the game, cause now that shit really isn’t day one anything.
With so many people feeling this way I hope that Capcom is listening and delays the game back to November again. There is a stamina meter to regulate all the dodging and melee moves but they really did suck the skill out of melee. It might not be a problem when the game is harder.
I forgot to mention the new herb mixing system in the game. When you pick up an herb it goes into your inventory and you have to select and add it to your pill box. Your pill box is activated by pressing RB. So like combining Red and Green herbs yields 6 pills for my pillbox. Each pill also equals 1 unit of health. I like this new system because you don’t have to waste all of your Red/Green mixes to fill up just a little bit of health. I don’t like it because well, why are we even bothering picking up and mixing herbs anyway? Just give us pills. :-/ Personally the only change I would have made to herb mixing is bringing back more types of herbs like poison, or even new types that could boost character stats such as melee strength, defense, weapon stability. You’d sacrifice a green herb by mixing it with a stat booster so no health bonus is given. Overall the pillbox isn’t too big of an issue. Just clunky.
I am assuming that skill points are the new currency system. That’s ok I guess. I’ll miss gem hunting and zombie robbing.
And recent Capcom titles RE6 and Dragon’s Dogma are pushing the MT Framework engine to it’s limits. Capcom needs to invest in improving that before releasing something for the next gen.
Why would they absolutely need to delay the game when they still have ~four months to work on it? Do you really think the demo is the absolute most current state of the game… considering the Jake bit is the exact same stuff from E3?
Well they already bumped it up to October and I do doubt Capcom’s ability to fix the field of view problem in time. I mean I hope they fix it but sometimes stuff like this is sacrificed to make sure other features make it in the game.
I like what I saw in the playthroughs on youtube. Jake and Leon’s walkthrough’s look fun. Chris’s seems more like RE5 which isn’t a problem. Its to be expected. The comments in the videos had me laughing. I guess people aren’t taking too kindly to the regen health idea. I’m taking the demo with a grain of salt cause I figure if you bump up the difficulty the regen will mean nothing.
Yeah Regen health isn’t that big of a deal. You can easily lose chunks of health.
Played a bunch more. So, one thing to note: they have a stamina bar that controls melee(did anyone mention this?). Popping pills gives you health and it also gives you stamina back. So, you really can play it like Vanquish/GodHand. Sprint -> Melee -> Counter / Dodge -> Melee -> go into cover and recharge meter or pop a pill and repeat the process. You can keep J’avo (whatever…) in stun as long as you have meter. The recovery frames on pill popping aren’t that long either.
The counter is gdlk. Saved me from getting hit a bunch of times (yay camera).
Pretty sure I guard broke someone. If not that, then you get some type of visual alert when you hit someone really hard. Looks like a burst of dust/papers or something.
I think regenerating health is tied to stamina. I’ll double check later when I do my melee only run with Jake (I cheated on the boss).
Red barrels = Nemesis Lite being free. Barrels have been a crutch for some developers for the longest. They should take them out of the equation in Jake’s battles vs him. You can opt not to use them, I guess. You didn’t have the options to cheat in the old games. You had to man the fuck up to face Tyrants. No run -> Action Dodge and shoot red barrels when you flip on your back. Jake has plenty of weapons to deal with him properly. That’s a minor nitpick, but whatever.
That’s probably an early fight with Nemesis lite. Doubt there will be nice convenient barrels in later fights.
This is true.
Looks like I’ve been playing Jake wrong, going by neogaf. His ability to control crowds is some next level shit. lol. Apparently, he can lock on midscreen (while charging the palm move), run up like his father using the palm attack, dodge mad shit while running, and beat the fuck out of everyone in the crowd after the first dude gets destroyed by the palm(just mash RT)… I hope they give him the mustang kick so I can get my Marvel vs Capcom 3 on. lololol. Like father, like son.
I only use the palm once on one dude, so I had no idea how nice he was. Can I please have Vanilla marvel gun hit-confirms like Wesker? lol. Shoot someone in the leg(didn’t seem to do much…), lock-on with the palm, and mash RT when it connects.
are you guys playing QUAKE or Resident Evil because im really confused here
Resident Quake 3
**DOUBLE **KEEEEEEHHLLLLL!
He seems to change weapons too slow to do those hit confirms. Plus the pop shots with the handgun waste stamina too. But just playing hand to hand 24/7 is very fun. The charge combo hits 4 times max, but it takes out the boss pretty fast. I just wish the stun rod for Sherry didn’t seem so slow. One funny thing is that it seems Jake takes more damage on counterhit if he gets hit during ducking upper, I lost a whole bar when he took a gun butt to the face and normally he would have some health to regen if he took it normally, though someone else can check to reconfirm for me.
Which also reminds me, that Wesker better be in Mercs mode, since if he plays like Jake and his usual kit, he’ll be really good in mercs like he usually is. He also needs that Jaguar kick like RE5.
The more I play, the more I kind of get over technical stuff. Sometimes I get into cover on a wall, but it doesn’t seem as sticky as something like Mass Effect 3. That would probably change once the game comes out for real and I’m playing on professional (RE4/5 professional the damage was pretty significant, so I don’t doubt that this game would be unforgiving on Pro), but since it’s really easy right now, I’m just fooling around with random stuff. The actual gameplay is fun than I thought it would be and I have to admit, I like that melee isn’t as context sensitive and they removed a lot of the invulnerability on them (though I have never been hit out of throws, like Chris’s pickup and Jake’s giant swing), because usually the most efficient way to get out of situations in the other games without wasting grenades or something was just stun the closest person to melee to help clear the crowd.
