This needed to be said. That Camera and Controls is what made the old REs so scary. The true test of if Capcom can make a scary game is to give the player as much control as possible while still scaring your out of your pants. Oh and limit ammo drops to only people who might actually have… ammo. It’s so silly to see an axe wielding African drop shotgun shells.
Where exactly did I mention RE4? :wtf: It’s in my top 10 of all times. Wtf are you even talking about?
Your logic is, because A sells better than B, it must mean that it is better. I’m saying that shit is a silly ass argument. Sells don’t mean shit, in regards to the quality of something. Only thing it means is that it sold enough to get a sequel. Going by your logic, the RE movies must be the greatest pieces of cinema ever, because they sold so much.
The caves are about the only section of the game I will give you. The rest? Hell no.
Me and my friends burned through every mode of RE5 with the swiftness, cause that shit was so easy and COD like. Pro mode was even a fucking joke. If we had access to the internet during our dorm days, our merc modes scores would have been with upper echelon. I played the game, plenty.
Its just funny to me how hard some people claim to be down with the old school, when plenty of old school gamers understand the concept of evolution in a series. Without it the stagnation completely destroys the franchise.
Silent Hill called, they said “I’m still scary…why didnt you buy me?”
I was actually pretty weirded out by Dead Space 2. I think it was the actual speed of the enemies that made you fully aware that all the ammo in the world wasnt going to save if if you tried to take the piss. I had a shitload of ammo and I still held my breath around every corner.
Silent Hill’s case is completely different. The series got outsourced to western developers that didn’t “get” the series. It’s simply in the wrong hands
Visceral actually manages to have a balance between horror and action. Current capcom doesn’t without the talent they use to have. If they manage to keep it up, we’ll see with Dead Space 3.
I’m giving RE6 the benefit of the doubt because of Wesker Jr’s section and Leon’s only…
Not quite. All I was saying was Resident Evil couldnt be as bad as you said if 6 million people purchased it. I didnt insinuate it was good because it sold well, I insinuated it wasnt bad because it sold very well.
You complain it was “Call of Duty like”, but you played the mercenaries multiplayer mode? What? Even then its not a first person shooter so you’re just reaching. The two DLC chapers also really fleshed out the game and like someone else before me mentioned, Resident Evil Revelations shows that Resident Evil can still be creepy.
I’m not much into having a debate by twisting what you say. What I’m saying is clear. What you’re saying is a bunch of unrealistic hooplah about Resident Evil going back to Resident Evil 2 style. Thats not going to happen. So lets just end this here.
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Moving along…anyone else catch the part in the RE6 demo on the stairs with Leon was bumrushed by 8-10 enemies at once? Thats something I am looking forward to, I was expected to be HOARDED by enemies in RE5 and it never happened. Heres to hopefully getting swarmed.
Also, zombies that put up a little fight, and dont stagger when you shoot them in the face. Awesome. I was looking at the video like “omg! they’re still coming after headshots!”
Fuck y’all… that new bitch is awesome.

I’m just confused by this whole Ada thing. ._.
They do. It’s called Resident Evil: Revelations. That game needs more love
I honestly don’t think you even know wtf you’re talking about at this point, and you’re making shit up. You’re right, we can end it here.
I wonder if the crosshairs are going to be prominent or only for certain occasions. They weren’t there the entire time.
edit:
Forgot about the handheld game. This is very true. I have no DS yet to play it.
So this game has both plagas and zombies?
Well before we actually end this feel free to show me where I “made shit up”.
Unless making shit up is code for giving you the sad reality that Resident Evil 4 set the precedent for the future of Resident Evil, something that Resident Evil 1 thru Veronica die-hards cant seem to cope with.
Only someone with a predisposition to flat out bash the game would even correlate a multiplayer mode that nobody played and a new hud with crosshairs as a step toward being like Call Of Duty. Sir you sound ridiculous, and claiming that I’m making things up is a horrible cop out for you not being about to even support your case.
I’ll hear anyone out. But the old Resident Evil fans need to let this argument go. Just let it go.
EDIT: Yes Resident Evil 6 has the old Resident Evil zombie types slightly evolved as well as an evolved form of the plagas int he form of a C-Virus. Correct me if I am wrong.
revelations needs to be remade on ps3/xbox360.
playing resident evil on a small ass screen doesn’t feel right.
Dude. Are you arguing with me or some imaginary person that negatively brought up RE4 on this page? :wtf: Nobody has said shit about Resident Evil 4 these last two pages, but you. I even went as far as saying RE4 is one of my top ten, which means I don’t have a single problem with it or it’s advancements to the genre / third person shooters in general. How many times must I type RE4 is gdlk, before you stop bringing it up.
Know the difference between the two? Mikami kept some oldschool elements in RE4, while RE5 damn near abandoned everything. I wouldn’t have a single issue with RE5 if they had managed to do what Revelations and RE 4 did. They didn’t though. So again, please tell me exactly where the hell I’m talking bad about anything other than RE5?
Again, what the fuck are you talking about? I said I didn’t think RE5 had anything worth of a horror atmosphere, you provided a few examples, and I agreed with only one. You’re the one that brought up how you and ya friends played through RE5, I simply stated that me and my friends did to. Guess what, none of us thought it had any atmosphere whatsoever.
Please find a quote on this page, where I said mercs mode was the reason it’s COD like. It’s not and you won’t find one. The main campaign sure as hell is. Just because it isn’t a first person shooter, doesn’t mean it can’t be filled with the Michael Bay nonsense the COD games are now filled with.
Me asking about the crosshairs was exactly that, a separate question about a gameplay element in RE6. In some segments and scenes of RE6 I’ve only seen the red sight and in the others I’ve seen the crosshairs and red dot together. It has absolutely zero to do with anything else.
You’re backwards ass way of trying to twist words is silly as shit.
For the record, not once have I said the games should go back to exactly to the way they were. You can’t read or, you’re doing exactly as I stated: Making shit up.
-.|…
You see that up there? That’s me, not giving a fuck what any of you say. It looks like fun, I’m going to play it, and nothing you say will change my mind.
shrug
Is there supposed to be more RE coverage throughout the week?
I cant see the 5 minute demo with Leon being the only playable portion of the download next month. The RE5 demo had two sub-chapters.
lol
People harp on other franchises (see Call of Duty) because “nothing changes” from year to year.
People harp on RE cuz it’s changed too much in a fucking 15+ year period.
Give it a fucking rest and either don’t play or let go. They’re bringing the game up to speed. Many of the choices of old RE games were out of necessity, not some genius artistic direction.
The only time I ever got “scared” playing the old RE games was when the game would hit you with a “BOO!” kind of scare by having dogs pop up out of no where for example. Doom 3 is scarier and more tense than any RE game.
Graphically RE6 looks fucking amazing, goddamn.
Doom was so dirty with it’s “boo” scares. The world was bathed in shadows and in the future no one figured out how to attach a flashlight to a gun.
I think most developers go about fear the wrong way in video games anyway. Video games give us something that movies can’t and that’s control. So yeah a monster may spook me but I can just run or try to defend myself. I can do something to not die.
That’s why games like Dark Souls to me are actually scarier when they aren’t even supposed to be. You can have death be forecast to you like the weather channel and still be scared when the evil/someone invading your game finally comes. In a medium where you give the people control the best way to scare them is to overwhelmingly overpower them. You combine that with “boo” tricks and you can get some scary shit.
TLDR; Fear =/= Horror.
They just need to make you feel so fucking weak and the enemies so overpowering that you piss yourself at the sight of more then 1 of them.
