ya it’s there because you survive by blowing the fucking out of everything to survive…with swagger…RE moved on from what it was, you move with it or move on yourself.
The only RE game I found scary was RE3. Never felt like enemies were better than me cuz i know i can move and dodge shit while they take forever to go into an angle where I can see and shoot. Glad they made the series gameplay the way it is. Other than that I follow the series for the story anyway cuz its pretty awesome story. Ehh… Thats just me.
moved on myself, lost interest after 3, like an idiot still played 4 and 5, defiantly wont be buying this one, not after 5, christ that was a fucking shit game, cant believe it’s 2012 and games are still using QTE’s
This is really getting old now, you guys. There was a natural progression that occurred that from a business standpoint was extremely positive that evolved the Resident Evil franchise into the future to keep it relevant but also continue the games legacy. If some of you had it your way Resident Evil would still have pre-rendered backgrounds and you would have to tap a button to make a 180 degree turn. THERE WOULD BE NO RESIDENT EVIL if some of you pig heads got your way and someone actually listened.
The only legitimate concern about the game is that it has become too easy. I personally feel that (at least on harder difficulties) ammo should be more scarce and that enemies should be more random and ferocious. Either way, I’ll enjoy the game on the hardest difficulty setting to offset the trend that developers have started these days that make games easy to pick up and play so that the casual gamer is pleased.
You have to give credit where credit is due, and pegging the game as “Call of Resident Evil” only just salts your own wounds and causes you to spam up forums with epic levels of butthurt trolling. Thats not going to change anything.
Capcom actually listened to the cries of “its losing the atmosphere” and look what they did, they give you a darker more secluded segment. They even make the Ai partner an optional addition to the single player experience instead of being a constant burden if you played alone. Two gigantic issues addressed and on paper sound very satisfying. Leon’s chapter takes place in Tall Oaks which will give you more of the classic RE feel, the demo is the China segment where there is supposed to be more full throttle action.
They are trying to please everyone, if things like this bother you so much then just move on or fire up Resident Evil 2 and speedrun that. Those games are horribly aged from a game’s mechanic standpoint and only serve their purpose if you’re taking a nostalgic trip down memory lane or to catch up with the storyline.
Resident Evil 5 sold a million more than what Resident Evil 2 took 15 years to sell.
How “scary” are people even expecting this to be? Lol. We are all grown ass men now time to grow the fuck up. A game can only be but so scary when you’re an adult, the genre “survival horror” was coined by Capcom themselves, people acting like they did a disservice to the genre. They made it up.
Furthermore, the only true “horror” in the old resident evils TRUTH BE TOLD were the clunky controls, limited ammo and stoic camera angles that made deaths swift and unexpected. There wasnt a real feeling of desperation or tension that was removed from Resident Evil 4 and above, people are just being whiney fanboys as usual. Shit still jumps out, things are still tracking you and hunting you down.
Thank god for the Re4 control scheme. The single most significant change that the series desperately needed. No more attempting to run away and the camera shift reverses your control throwing you directly into the arms of a zombie. lol. What the fuck.
The fuck does having to be a “grown ass man” have to do with enjoying prominent thematic elements in entertainment? Men can’t enjoy a creepy atmosphere with horror elements? Miss me with that bs.
You’re right though. It is my opinion that RE 5 failed in comparison to all of the other main Resident Evil games (especially RE2). I couldn’t care less about sales. Pulling that card is weak as hell, considering it doesn’t speak on anything regarding quality.
Metacritic:
RE5: 83
RE2: 89
Guess it is a fact that it’s better. See how silly that is?
That dude obviously works for Capcom, any RE fan can see that shit like crosshairs, co-op, and a cover system are not what RE is about. But then again, RE5 is fail no matter what anybody tries to convince me. RE6 needs to be more RE2, Revelations or RE4, less Gears of War.
With that said, my dumb ass will probably still buy RE6 anyway. (Battered House wife syndrome)
But Resident Evil 4 and 5 both had elements of horror. So the foundation of your argument is flawed.
lol you’re splitting hairs, the initial logic was if it was as bad as you CLAIMED it wouldnt have sold more than the one you CLAIMED is so much better.
Trying to create this “the entire game was a rambo shooter” avalanche of thought only works with people who are stubborn like yourself. Playing Resident Evil 5 for the first time over PSN with my best friend after the midnight release…The caves, the cargo maze, the swamplands all creepy in their own right. Especially for a first playthrough with vulture ammo and no clue what was coming next.
