Capcom’s been walking on eggshells for a long time so a lot of there comments in regards to RE6 has had people questioning where the series is headed. But as usual, you got the fanboys that were quick to say the game was shit with zero context and it turns out once the game came out that RE6 was a very fun and good game. A lot of the hardcore RE guys want that old school “survival horror” feel. I wouldn’t mind that BUT I think the narrative of the series over the years has progressed pass that point.

Don’t get me wrong I love old school RE games but if a new RE game came out with the same mechanics and story telling of old RE games it would feel very disappointing IMO.
On a unrelated note can someone tell me what was up with jake’s reaction over hearing about what happened to wesker. It seemed so random and like WTF…from what I gather he never met him and knew he was crazy. Didn’t make sense for him to become crazily over defence about hearing what Chris did.
Maybe he thought the fact that Chris and Wesker’s beef was personal might’ve been the reason Wesker went crazy.
But the scene before he acknowledged he doesn’t wanna be like his dad. The writing got straight out lazy at this part…Chris should have been like"son your dad was fucking nutty, I’m only sorry I didn’t kill him sooner."
Edit: also Chris saying"shoot me you have every right to"makes him almost a bigger pussy then leon. This is 1 situation where guilt is not in anyway warranted.
Again though, he barely knew anything about Wesker other than him trying to take over the world. Chris mentioned their beef was also personal. It wouldn’t be the first time a personal beef drove someone over the edge. I’ll give you a hint, he has FINGER LASERS!!!
So when can we have another Dino Crisis?
Speaking of Dino Crisis, does it and RE exist in the same universe? I remember using boxes with the Umbrella logo in the first game
Revelations felt very much survival horror while at the same time keeping the new mechanics in the game. I have not played 6 as of yet but the problem I hear people saying is that if you took the story out of 6 it would just be a normal shooter like the market is already oversaturated with. Like I said I personally have not played it as of yet and therefore have no opinion on it myself.

I’d say Chris’s campaign comes across like more of a shooter. My logic around that though was more so because he was part of a commando group so it made sense to a point. I know people here made some interesting ideas on how his campaign could’ve been better like taking advantage of his PTSD and amnesia.
I am happy that they’re bringing Revelations to consoles so hopefully that makes Capcom put the series in that direction at least gameplay wise.
As far as Dino Crisis, if Capcom were to do it down the line, i figure it will be like Dino Crisis 2 which was pretty run and gun. I know a lot of people like that game.

I could get that but the writing leading up to that moment didn’t really afford that kind of reaction or assumption on the part of jake. Up to that point we are lead to believe jake is unhappy about his father’s legacy and had a very low opinion about him previously due to wesker leaving him and his mom behind. From all indications, whatever defensive mechanism he would have had as a son was completely removed thanks to his mother and the details about wesker’s antics. It wouldn’t make sense to assume jake would reason a personal issue with chris was the cause to wesker’s insanity because no matter how personal a grudge gets it can never cause someone to become completely genocidal against all living life.
It strikes me as a dumb moment because I didn’t actually mind jake’s characterization up to that point and I felt like it was the better effort in terms of making the story not so cheesy. Him holding the gun to chris angrily like"you killed my daddy!!!"was a huge BS moment and completely undermines his characterization up to that point.
Exactly. That moment was rather random. I was happy about Jake not being connected to his father like your typical protagonist-offspring from another character until that point.
I’m only really playing Devil’s Advocate, I was thrown off by the moment just as much as you guys. Guess they thought if Chris and Jake met up, Chris mentioned Wesker and Jake went meh the moment wouldn’t mean much.

But you know what, I am glad that the character ends his arc off by using his powers to take down BOW’s for a living. I’d definitely play another RE installment with Jake and other new characters.
I just hope jake can dodge bullets next time!
