Yeah I mean I’m glad they are doing this. I just hate that I’ve already done the bulk of what I can do in RE6 already that these improvements we’ll probably only get my GF to finally play with me. I suspect they’ll release a RE6 Gold edition. They are generating enough content for such a release. I wonder if we’ll get a DLC mission or more maps/characters for Mercs and Multiplayer.
RE5 did the following things wrong: Bad co-op AI, a crappy on the rails shooting section, and inferior puzzles. Objectively that’s it. What else did it honestly do wrong? It doesn’t have nearly as many technical glitches as RE6 and by and large is a cleaner looking game instead of that muddy mess we have now. Not to mention you really had to rely on your partner in a better way. You play RE6 co-op online and the other person might as well not even be there. Even the QTE’s were better. Sales wise I don’t know how well RE6 is doing versus RE5. It’s probably going to be worse because everyone is doing worse these days.
^In many ways yes. Every company has a fiscal year. Capcom’s ends/begins around the fallish I think. Also RE is a horror themed game. You release a game like that ideally in October (also the 5th movie came out in Sept so the timing was great in that regard. Tons of RE exposure). And the holidays are right after that? So in theory maximum amount of money should be made. If the game was delayed till 2013 Capcom would have missed out on revenue before their fiscal year ended. Their stock would be lowered and I’m sure whoever they are borrowing money from would not be happy. Sometimes a game can be delayed without it being so detrimental to the bottom line but Capcom’s year wasn’t so great. Also every day a game is in development someone is getting paid. Making AAA games ain’t cheap.
There’s a lot more to it and I’m sure someone can better explain it but money has to be made and fast.
My Camera Set-Up
7, 5, 7. I might tinker with it some more. The new camera is nicer I’ll say that much. It’s a shame that RE6 is such a mess. The third person controls are just amazing for it not being Vanquish. If only the cover system was worth a damn. I forgot how much fun it is to shoot a motherfucker in the head, slide into him, and then pull off a coup de grace.
Agent (HUNK by any other name)
I love his load out in Mercs. Chris’ pistol, semi-auto sniper, knife, 5 remote bombs, and two health sprays. He is the all-arounder. He’s not really flashy but that’s ok. He’s about getting the job done.
Playing New Maps
I love the Requiem For War map. It’s really big but there are lots of time statues and it has a better flow than Steel Beast. Steel Best is still ass. I hate Steel Beast. Fuck Steel Beast. Haven’t tried Liquid Fire yet. That should be interesting. I hope we get more maps that aren’t reuses though. A Spanish village perhaps. Or a shanty African town?
RE5 was a moderately fun action game that is only worth playing co op with a friend. RE6 is more of the same, can’t really complain about much… graphics are great, voice acting and writing is still bad. I’ve just accepted the series for what it’s become and I’m enjoying them I guess
Yes, the developers get paid by the publishers for every deadline they meet. No deadline no payment. Publishers expect a finished product within a certain time so they can sell.
I’m really confused about what’s so good about 4. I can’t even stick to the game it’s boring. I think the truth is the competition is WAAYYY more fiercer now than it was when 4 came out.
I think people don’t realise what the real problem is with the series now… THE SWIVELLING CAMERA!
If you played this on PS2… I can definitely understand why you would say that…
The gamecube version was the strongest in the gameplay department… the controller almost feels like it was designed for this game it works so well…
RE4 was definitely my favorite…
Escorting Ashley was the weakest part of this game imo… good thing that was over quickly…
The enemies surprising/scaring you was not the result of a shitty camera…
Mercenaries was the bomb, and the characters they picked for you to use were dope… Krauser goes down as one of the coolest villains… QTE’s weren’t overused or overcomplicated to the point where they felt like a chore…
Tons of secrets to find… all weapons were viable… like in RE5, there was zero reason to use old weapons once the new ones came in…
In RE4, for example, the first shotgun that you get when fully upgraded hits with the same power from ANY distance… long ranged shotgun ftw…
An old pistol that needed a stock to reduce recoil and had slow reload speeds could be fully upgraded to have the power of a shotgun…
So much good shit, and the game didn’t have to tell you where to go…
The characters were a big piece of it though, the villains and heros were both very likeable… they had their own quirks that made them special…
EDIT: But yeah I’m just listing shit… give it a try ho…
