Resident Evil 6

Wish there was a RE channel on youtube like there is for the SH games with Twinperfect. RE story can be a bit of a convoluted mess.

BTW I tried to play the RE6 demo(Leon) and hated it because some idiot jumped it and just ran past all the zombies making them attack me. He also had me open all the doors for the jump scare attacks like a dick since he obviously knew about them. Really makes me hate this game.

There once was a guy doing a project called RE: The Entire Story or something like that on Youtube where he had videos of all the RE’s in chronological order (including playing one half of RE3 until Jill gets knocked out and playing all of RE2 right in the middle of that then finishing RE3) along with journal entries and backstory info and all of that. But I think it was nuked a few years back unfortunately. You could look into that, see if it’s still up.

One of Jake’s files says he begin his life as a mercenary when he was 15.

I haven’t touched Ada’s campaign yet because my wife wants to play through that with me so I gotta wait until that update hits in Dec. But we have completed the main 3. Ultimately I have found the game to be enjoyable and fun despite some flaws. The addition of the melee and stamina bar I thought were pretty good additions for the game to make it so melee wasn’t completely brain dead spammable. Dodging and rolling are nice too…cover system? not so much. I’m going to put my complaint on this squarely on my love for Gears though but at the same time I found myself repeatedly in a situation where there were snipers and in order to make my character link up with the wall I had to press up while aiming to do so causing the character to go into cover…then immediately lift his head from cover to eat a bullet to the skull. Mostly happened when dealing with chest high walls or when I had to scooch a couple of inches over to cover. Not game breaking…just annoying.

QTE sequences I’m kind of eh on. The biggest issue I had concerning these were the climbing QTE ones. It only took a couple of tries before understanding what it was that Capcom wanted but my wife just could not for the life of herself understand that she needed to treat it as if she was actually climbing by keeping 1 hand on a trigger at all times. I don’t think Capcom did a good job explaining it which was probably the biggest issue. QTE for attacking B.O.W’s and what not I was perfectly fine and definitely dig the chance to counter attack enemies.

My biggest gripe with the game so far has to be Capcom’s choice in camera angles at certain points. I know they were trying to go for cinematic approaches but if I’m running away from a hideous creature that is trying to knock the ground out from underneath me, then I’d like to be able to see where I’m going. Especially in the final stretches of Chris’ campaign where they decide the zoom the camera way the fuck out so you can see what’s going on behind your characters but it makes it hard to tell how close the pipes are that you need to slide underneath.

Story was good ole Resident Evil cheese. Chris turning into an unbelievable douche halfway through the campaign was kind of annoying and then Jake pulling a gun on Chris after he tells Jake he killed Wesker didn’t make any lick of sense to me…and playing through Jake’s story didn’t help at all leading up to that point. Jake full well acknowledged that his dad was a dick and was pretty much responsible for a ton of rotten shit so he then decides to be like ‘YOU KILLED MY DADDY!’. Fuckin bullshit…I’m not sold on it. If I’m missing anything to this altercation then please enlighten me. If I had to choose between the first 3 campaigns then I’d say I enjoyed Leon’s the most with Jake’s coming in second since I enjoyed his CQC.

Game could be quite tense in areas but it was not scary in the least which I wasn’t surprised about. I went into this game expecting it not to be scary so it’s not so much a negative to me but it is kind of said that it didn’t.

I look forward to playing Ada’s campaign in the Dec. to tie up everything.

Official numbers are in. RE6 sold 806,000 copies in it’s debut month in the U.S. Sold 808, 039 copies in Japan bring the collective total to 1.61 mil. Not too shabby. Capcom dropped the ship numbers expectations from 7 mil to 6.

Heh, I finally got time to sit down and start playing this (had to finish off Kingdom Hearts: Dream Drop Distance and Code of Princess first). I started with Leon’s chapter, which I overall thought was pretty damn good. I didn’t care for the QTE’s in the prologue, though, way too much. Other than that, however, I thought most of that first chapter was creepy, scary, and at times, sick (that elevator moment). Those are all things that were missing from 5 that I really wanted, dare I say most of 4, too? (Not to say that I didn’t love RE4, mind you.) I also love how this game will just fuckin’ kill you, quick-like. All those things combined make it feel like survival horror again to me, which couldn’t make me happier. Anyway, I’ll probably play through the rest of the game in the suggested chapter order.

…Also, can’t wait to play as Ada. I hear some of her chapters are the best in the game?

Of these three I want Predator and Onslaught. Predator because I want to play as the Ustanak. Onslaught for being a survivor horror twist on Puzzle Fighter.

Ustanak mode is the only one that seems worth anything. Onslaught seems like mercenaries the fighter and survivor mode looks like it’ll be super broken simply due to the fact that you still stagger and fall from melee strikes. I predict it’ll be about who gets a quick shot first, then free hits.

Funny you say that because I wonder if I’ll care about this game again once the update drops. Furry Curry wants to care but doesn’t at the moment. :frowning:

Onslaught to me looks like the only worthy thing. I can only imagine playing Predator will get boring really fast. Survivor Mode…well I didn’t like Versus in RE5, sure as hell won’t like this.

Onslaught though seems like the ultimate test to your Mercs ability without memorizing spawns and statue locations. That I could see having far more replayability than Mercs before since it’s not about just beating your score, now you have that actual opponent there and the experience changes every time.

I’m glad you guys pointed out Onslaught. That shit looks hype. It’s like Puzzle Fighter Evil.
