I got the X-arcade about 2 years ago, and what a piece of junk…
I am going to gut it and replace the sticks with perfect 360’s (will be a pain but worth it) But i am not sure on what buttons I should be using??
I am thinking of the Happ convex or Sanwa buttons. Has anyone done a button replacement and is there any things i should be looking out for when doing this ?
If you want to put Sanwa buttons in there you will have to make the current X-Arcade button holes bigger. The current holes will fit Happ buttons perfectly though. So if you don’t have the capability to make the holes bigger, Happ is the way to go.
Happ Competitions (get them from Lizard Lick) will fit perfectly.
For Sanwas, you’ll need to make the hole a little bigger. (Happ mounts in 1.125 in, Sanwas mount in 30 mm, which is 1.1875 in). Also, you have to make sure that the mounting depth is enough for Sanwa screw ins. Snap ins have about 3-4 mm of clearance. The Screw ins have a depth of about 8 mm. You have to hollow out the bottom somewhat before the screw ins will fit.
actually you might not even need to make the holes bigger the reason i say this is cause i got a similar type stick a Hanaho Hot Rod SE stick and the holes can fit a regular sanwa snap in:wink:
and the original buttons the hot rod used was happ:wink: so you might wanna try to see if the sanwa buttons fit first before making the wholes bigger you never know:wink:
A Sanwa button can fit into the X-Arcade case, but it’s too loose. You may have to try screw ins but then there’s the question whether they’ll be long enough. You’re best off just putting Competition buttons in there, keeping with the American style. Good luck replacing the stick though, you’ll have fun unscrewing cemented bolts with no grip.
Thanks guys I have ordered 6 x 24mm and 6 x 30mm sanwa buttons. 6 x As well as Happ Competition Pushbutton. Ill see what ones I like the most and try and modify the X-Arcade to suit. The good thing is ill have spares ready for a custom stick.
X-Arcade boxes about plywood 3/4 inch!! this isn’t works for sanwa and seimitsu buttons. you need have a tool rounter and set bits. It’ll work JPN buttons.
good idea, this best way use as Happ Competition Pushbutton. :wgrin:
