Because no one is Rob anymore? /shurgs Anyway, I’d rather play in the arcade anyway rather than being in a house again (cabin fever anyone?) and fuck that 1.25 price for SFIV and after going to Atlantis 4x and not seeing BB, I just figured fuck going there.
Yeah, buttons will stay spread out for a while. Unfortunately, engineering has to do it, and they are the most worthless piles of shit I’ve ever seen. It took them 4 weeks last time they drilled 6 holes into the machines (seriously took like 5 minutes at most).
Disappointing trip to Atlantis SFIV cabinet play. Wow, no one showed up. One guy that has no clue what SRK forums was playing and I messed him up 5-0 and he left. So sad, was hoping you guys had the sit down japanese cabinets, but turns out you guys have the same crap we have in SF. Oh well, was fun gambling and winning 100$ in roulette.
i was there. i didnt see no one on the machine the whole day as far as i recall. not unless you played super early and that is prolly why i didnt see ya or i was distracted. ;/
are you the same magnus that took 3rd place at fudds?? if yea, and your around reno for fam reasons or whatever, i’ll definitely like to play ya. viper dont scare me, haha. ;]
-also new button layout would be put in before free hour tuesday on the shitty 1st player side, at least what i am aware of so far from the assistant manager. so no more shitty handicap anymore, ESPECIALLY on the saturday tourny at noon on the 22nd this saturday.
I checked it out a few times on Saturday when I was on my poker break. Checked around 5:45 and 8:45ish. No one was there lol.
Checked it out again last night at around 11ish I think. There was a couple people there, only problem was the 2nd player joystick was broken =/. Should be fixed by tomorrow I think. Hopefully I can get off work early this time.
lol you actually play poker at Atlantis ???, they are a bad investment no matter what you play. They only offer shitty limit games and their tournaments are no better some of the worst grinders in Reno … ( lol unless you like your 5% shot at making the money while grinding it out in a shitty blind structure ) and to be honest I havent even bothered to look at their new poker room they are that bad, they are one of the worst in town, there blackjack is no better, the only thing they might still have which I havent checked on in a while is a decent Blackjack tournament.
I can tell ya all the good poker spots based on what your looking for NL/LM/7 Stud or Omaha/Tournaments etc… Well their isnt much for tournaments here their all grinders for the most part but a couple where the structure makes up the the grindness … And I wouldnt recommened EVER playing limit unless your playing 15$/30$ or more.
I might actually go to the Crazy Gaineys at Pepper this month , Since they are doing a lot of HORSE and Stud 8 tourneys, which is what I prefer along with Razz. I might even play in my first Pineapple tourney lol .
Yeh I just checked it out that day because my friend wanted to play poker there lol. He wanted to try the low limit ones, which I usually don’t play since old people just love catching shits, but I was fine. Atlantis is still has terrible blackjack tournaments. What spot would you recommend for good NL tables and tournaments? And good spots for Omaha High-low?
Haven’t tried playing Stud 8 or Razz for money yet, how much are the buy-ins at the peppers?
For NL depends on your skill level to be honest ill assume your intermediate and at least understand basic fundamentals.
The best NL is/ Notables :
Peppermill - Has some " Decent " players on their $1/2 tables. Ive made the most $ here but thats also cuz I understand how to play play $1/2 properly. And it also draws the most out of towners.
Grand Sierra - Has a 1/2 , but is VERY slim on players and at times you can be playing 5 handed for a while. But at times they have a waiting list. Hit and miss here , they have that NO RAKE for certain hours which is a good profit booster. But VERY local based for some reason.
Boomtown - 1-5 spread limit ! This one is a catcher for all the old vets. Boy I underestimated these peeps the first time. They been playing since before I was born and im 25. This is a place to go to boost your skill to be honest but thats about it, youll make little to no profit but cheap experience.
El Dorado - This is the best for Mixed games : Stud table 2-5 spread usually has players but it low limit so its a double edge sword. I didnt like it cuz I use a 5 or Fold tweeked for me strategy and is hard to run a pair of lets says Aces down to 7 cuz of the number of players in the hands* which is why ALL the limit suxs in this town *. I honestly dont go here for that reason anymore. And their NL is scrub fest in a bad way.
Harrahs / Cal Neva - They have some of the best tourneys in town I guess. Cal Neva is still a top 3 daily but has the infi rebuy which allows for extra % in the bad blind structure. Plus skill level is lack luster and easy to make a run against bad players. Harrahs has a bounty I liked a lot again the bounty $ makes up for bad blind structure although I havent been there in like 2 years , I won back to back tourneys there and never really had a chance since to get back there so it might have changed. And I did find some good players in Harrahs though. Ones I could say honestly knew more than I did.
And RIP Bonanza - God this was the hidden gem in the city. You could go late on a Fri/Sat night , count on their high pen Blackjack tables and wait for players to fill up the one poker table they had . Was a max 50$ buy in NL lol , GOD every player I EVER played against was complete crap. Then they took the table away and that was a sad day . I would wear some Full Tilt gear and they would fold to me just about everytime I raised was funny actually, and they all always drank it up.
Since almost all tourneys in this city are top 3 only they really all suck unfortionatly. And all the other places offer only Limit shit. And for Omaha 8 I hear Flamingo in Carson has a good table for this or it might be omaha Hi ??
but like 4 or so years I ago I wrote up to my self a stategy for the Limit $2/4 tables that I did find to have positive results but I personally dont like the limit barrier unless its in HORSE :). I wouldnt mind sharing this with you if you were adimtent to play on these kind of tables. *** and I never go into a table with a strategy just usually adjust to the other players and take the role that seems most profitable at the time, but for low limit holdem you need to follow a gameplan or you will lose more than you will ever win unfortuantly
I will be at the Atlantis later if you want me to give me details etc…
I usually play 1-2 NL at the Peppermill actually. My first time ever playing low limit was that time at the Atlantis actually. It was a F-ing grind, and I had to adjust a lot just to make an ok profit =/.
I’ll try to get off early from work to play from SFIV and we can talk about your strategy lol. I’ll be an asian guy named Pher wearing a brown A’s hat.
