also the cabinets are not the best for the sf4 and bb, thier working on putting button caps and whatever else to make them look nice.

Just to introduce myself, my name’s Ryan. I’m currently living in London, UK, but from teh 14th of August, I’m coming over the Reno for a placement year of my Biology degree at uni, working at the UNR.
Oh and I love Street Fighter IV.
I’m not the best or anything, but I think I’m semi decent enough Chun player (though I’m a pad player only at the moment, but willing to give sticks a shot!). This threads got a lotta pages to trawl through, and I’ll get to that eventually, but for now, whats the scene like? Are people meeting up to play in arcades (I’m seeing Atlantis mentioned a few times) or going round houses?
Anyway, just saying hi. After I get settled in a bit more, I’ll start looking arond for decent people to play with!

Im a pad player also…the only other pad player you will find up here amongst most people but it doesn’t really matter as long as you execute and are good. Community is pretty decent sized,but is disjointed at the moment, but can gather together again whenever with some orginization.
Just hit a few of us up when you get down here and Im down to meet up to play whenever.
And Brent, why exactly should I use a stick hmm?

Yeah, Reno’s scene has improved dramatically thanks to the release of Street Fighter 4. Last small ghetto tournament we had was 10 players, and that is exciting for this little town. Also, there is a free bus from the UNR area to Atlantis (I THINK?)
We have an awesome arcade with BlazBlue, Street Fighter 4, tons of racing games and some of the rarest Bemani titles in the US. The games are a -little- bit overpriced, but it’s to be expected when they’re brand new.
Also, they’re ordering new 8 way joysticks, Convex buttons and new microswitches. Once those get in, the machines should be absolutely perfect.
Do you guys have Technika in Reno?
You should use a stick because if you ever go arcade “dojo busting” style (travel to random arcades in cali / other places on busy nights and rape face), you can’t do it on a pad. Unless you play Tekken 5. :3

Yeah I tried the stick thing for a few months and It doesn’t gel well with me. I’ll admit its more precise a little bit, but comfort and reaction not as high on it for me.

Okay, I visited Atlantis today and talked to Joey about a few changes
SF 4 Machine now has the sticks set up correctly, and with good sticks / convex buttons.
BlazBlue works perfectly from my tests
I made a couple suggestions to Joey about machine arrangement, and pricing, so hopefully he’ll get back to me about how his boss feels about that.
