4-2? planning ahead aren’t we? That’s fine with me. Hopefully I won’t be a dumbass this time.

PS. In my humble opinion I think there needs to be a rule about first round picks. In the last tournament there arose a situation in the final rounds such that whoever got to counter-pick the other guy first had a serious advantage… i.e. Rock-Paper-Scissors with Nina-Julia-Christie. So if Anthony chose Christie first and then Rob won with Nina then it would be round-Robin (get it, round Robin? bahaha I’m so funny!) with those characters until Rob wins with the last round (assuming it all goes like rock paper scissors).

Got to give Anthony some credit in the first Rob V Anthony. He picked Julia V Julia when Christie V Julia seemed like a much better match for him… even though it would leave him at a disadvantage for the next round. If he picked Julia and won then he wouldn’t have anything to worry about the next round. If that’s what he was thinking at the time, kudoos to you Anthony.

Anyways, back to the point. Perhaps a coin-toss to see who picks first, then regular rules apply to following rounds? Just a humble suggestion.

And this weekend: I don’t think I’ll make it for Saturday, I’ve got a judo tournament same day in San Jose. If I’m not there on Saturday I’ll be there on Sunday. Anyone who wants to get in some practice… PLEASE SOMEONE WANT TO GET IN SOME PRACTICE… I’ll be there at 8 or so.

Feeding Frenzy tournament this weekend, bitches.

T5 card slot I still have to call Namco about. The solenoid that holds the card in place isn’t getting a clean +5V.

…Probably due to mashing. Which reminds me…any time I hear excessive mashing outside of the office, I’m going to unplug the machine for 20 minutes so that it can cool down from the abuse. Sometimes it fucking sounds like people are taking tapdancing lessons out there. Anyone caught mashing will have their T5 card renamed to “Twinkletoez” and must buy all pink colors on their character.

Seriously, this was some of the gayest tournament finals I’ve ever seen; nonstop counter matching each match. I don’t know much about Tekken at this level yet, but if the game downgrades to “let’s use best match-ups to our advantage”, what the fuck is the point in having a main character? It just seems kinda pointless.

Maybe I’m missing the point?

Just order 4 more Tekken 5 machines. And maybe hook up DDR pads to the machine so all those mashers can burn some calories.

There are some counter pics, but its not the end all of the game. Ling is not top tier in T5 but still Shauno managed #1 spot in NorCal. That ends the debate in my mind. You can get an advantage some times but it doesn’t matter that much when you get really good.

Any tournament worth it’s salt allows for a double-blind pick for the first game. That is, one person whispers their character to a moderator or writes it down. The second person then chooses their character and then the moderator forces the first person to select who they whispered or wrote down. Simple enough.

I personally haven’t seen much character counter-picking in Tekken so far. Usually people lose because they are not good against a certain character, not because their character isn’t good against that character. And I don’t see the problem against Nina with Christie, other than the fact that Nina is good and that Christie is not as good. I just don’t see how that matchup is a loss. I personally have a much tougher time against Feng and Bryan than Nina.

Well I do agree with going double blind on the first match of the Semi/Finals, so things like that won’t have much of an impact towards how everyone felt about the finals.

I didn’t think there was any problems on how the character switching were and everything, seeing that Anthony did beat Rob’s Nina with Christie.

At any given moment, counter chara can only get you so far, at the end, it always boils down to who will adapt faster in that situation. Christies d+4 chipped out Nina’s life bar to the point where Rob had to go play catch up and ended up killing him.

I was hoping Rob would bust out Steve anyway. Besides that, in the finals, Rob was ready to go with Julia, regardless on who Anthony picked, and even after seeing Christie, Rob still went with Julia.

But no controversy bs, or even having rules about chara switching, just say you want a double blind in the future matches and we’ll have that. Simple as that.

Anyway good tourney, it was ran perfectly (as usual), and Justin’s a dumbass for 1.) being late for the tourney 2.) for not reading what time the tourney starts 3.) for using Ling Xiayou(J/K) ^ ^b.

I fixed the L side card reader on Tekken…

I’m guessing the cause was due to like the most extreme case of mashing ever, cuz the entire pcb that interfaces with the solenoid was unseated from the main CPU. Looks like I’m gonna have to install a richter scale killswitch on that bitch.

I predict a second tsunami will rip through Asia because of the incredible seismic forces produced by our resident scrubs. Please, if you see a masher, or your friend is a masher, or your name is IVAN TEH JUICE OF TEH UNIVERSE, tell me so I can take the necessary action. Which would of course be flicker 1, f+1 to their face.
