Remora Official Thread - RGB LED control for MadCatz FightSticks

All are JST PH.

direct from remora to the cthulu screw terminalsā€¦ iā€™ll post a diagram soon, so you know which ones to plug intoā€¦

cool thanks.

Hey so is this what I need?

That appears to be 2mm pitch, so yes that should work. Just connect the kill ground wire to ground.

Weirdness. Iā€™ve got one of my fav buttons set to probably a similar color orange, and I see the same thing youā€™re describing in Fav_ripple, Fav_rippleIO, and fav_fade. Also seeing it with more peach tones. Hmmm. I can tell you for sure that this only appears to happen in the middle range of greens+full red+zero blue. Adjusting the greens up or down can move it out of the range where that occurs, so a few tweaks aught to get you to a close shade that doesnā€™t do that.

Thatā€™s really weird. Because the cylon/spiral/etc modes should be using the same routines for the favorite color fading, and donā€™t appear to have that problem. I will definitely look into and see what I can do. I apologize for missing that in testing, I had no idea that would occur.

I apologize if this has already been answered somewhere, but I canā€™t find it. I have a Madcatz EVO XBox 360 fight stick and I bought the ChImp, the Remora, and ArcEye3ā€™s. What I canā€™t find anywhere are installation instructions or a guide for how to install the ChImp with the Remora. Does anyone know where this exists? And if it doesnā€™t yet, could someone give me a run-down please? Iā€™m planning on soldering and Iā€™ve dual-modded previous sticks, but this is a bit more involved.

Actually, if someone can upload or point me to a couple of high-res pictures of an existing ChImp+Remora install, showing the wiring, I can probably figure it out from there.

Thanks!!

The Remora will get installed the same as any Xbox 360 Mad Catz Stick would Chimp or not. As for the Chimp youā€™re in the wrong thread just follow the pdf and take your time there is a plethora of info on the chimp through out Toodles thread

Ordered 6x OBSC-30s, 6x Arc Eye 3s, and 1x Remora

I told myself if I did well on a big test Iā€™d reward myself with this and I did well - I am so stokedddddddddddddddd

Will post videos later!

Hi Toodles! I just wanted to thank you again for making such an awesome mod. And thanks to JDM for the sexy installation. You guys are the best. Now I just need some sticks.

Installing the the Remora is dirt easy. I didnā€™t know what to do until I looked at the package and it all clicked. Pretty common sense to install.

Iā€™m using the Remora in a 360 1st-gen TE stick which has been dual modded with a ChimpSMD. If I plug the stick into my PC, the USB device disconnects as soon as the Remoraā€™s screensaver mode comes up. If I press a button, it will reconnect and function just fine until the screensaver mode comes up again. Whatā€™s happening here and is there a fix?

Yep, youā€™re absolutely right. =:) Got my Remora and ArcEye 3ā€™s installed tonight. Went pretty smoothly. Absolutely beautiful!! Tomorrow night Iā€™ll put the ChImp in. =:)

IIRC you were the guy putting the Remora in with the blue Siemitsus? How do they look?

I too am anxious to look.

How did they turn out?

Iā€™ll definitely put up pics when Iā€™m done, but I think the blue Seimitsus and blue ball top go REALLY nicely with the EVO FightStick. The Remora/ArcEye3ā€™s are REALLY bright and for the most part show through the blue Seimitsu buttons. The only problem is that because the buttons are tinted blue, the white LED and blue LED look exactly the same, the green LED colors do show through nicely, and the yellow/red/orange LED colors really donā€™t show through the blue buttons that well. Iā€™m going to leave the blue Seimitsus in for a couple of months and see how I like them, long term. I was a little disappointed to see that I couldnā€™t see the full color spectrum from the Remora/ArcEye3ā€™s like you would be able to with clear Seimitsus, but of course thatā€™s to be expected due to the blue tint on the buttons and I knew that going in.

So if youā€™re doing this on your own and you want to see the amazingly full color throughput of the Remora/ArcEye3ā€™s, and thatā€™s your focus, definitely go with clear Seimitsus. If youā€™re modding an EVO FightStick and care about how the buttons look when the stick is off, and think the blue buttons make this gorgeous stick look even better (like I do), the compromise youā€™ll be making is that you wonā€™t get near the color range through the Remora/ArcEye3ā€™s as you would with clear buttons.

Hope that makes sense.

Iā€™m going to try to finish the mod tonight and get the ChImpSMD wired in and then Iā€™ll take a bunch of pictures and put some of them up here.

Just pick up some clears and and swap the rims out so you will still have blue plunger then just combine the left overs and sell them in the trader section both colors are popular and will sell

Nice job. Another alternative is that since Remora only uses start/select for changing modes, connect start/select from remora to up/right on your joystick, and leave start/select as originally wired (directly to the controller pcb).

That way, you wont need start/select tactile switches. You can use up/right in place of select/start when configuring remoraā€¦

Ooh, excellent idea, thanks!!

8 buttons is d!ck
6 buttons better
10 is boss!!!
