Been looking for a 3rd for my Spidey/Doom team, recently I’ve been trying to learn Vergil. Initially I was thinking Spidey/Doom (missiles)/Vergil (rapid slash) as my Spidey/Doom usually has 4-5 bars waiting for my 3rd character should they be left alone. But i’ve been reading a lot on the forums suggesting Vergil in 2nd slot is strong as well and does well with missiles behind him (who doesn’t? lol). So do you guys think Spidey/Doom/Vergil or Spidey/Vergil/Doom would be a better order?
Dante/vergil/Magneto is probibly the best way to run that team, Dante has to be a monster for it to work, but if Dante lands a solid hit… thats about the worlds easiest ToD from there due to spiral sword madness
Running Vergil first might not be so bad since there are practical 100%s from just about anything starting with less than a Bar, but I like Vergil 2nd for the DHC nonsense he brings
Honestly it depends on the matchup imo. At least that’s how I’ve been doing it. If I’m fighting someone like Zero I put Vergil on point since I don’t want to deal with the zoning war. Putting Vergil on point saves him from dealing with welcome mixups which Dante has more mobility to handle. Dante lets you build more meter for Vergil to go to town, but you run the risk of him not hitting the floor. It’s apples and oranges with this team. Find out what you’re most comfortable with I’d say.
Cool, I’m running Vergil/Dante/Mags for now just so I’ll have more time learning Vergil but I’ll probably switch it to Dante/Vergil/Mags after I get comfortable enough to Sword loop online. Crystal assist comes out late alot though
I really wish they released the Magneto DLC, Victorian Sparda Bros + King of Spain would make such a gentleman-ass team
hey whats good y’all. it’s been a minute since i picked up this game. but i’m going to get into this again since i started going back to my local gatherings. and to be frank, i just want one of the best teams for vergil since he’s pretty much the only character i like. well, i like wesker too, so if anyone have any suggestions for what type of team would work for vergil, i’m all ears.
Add Magneto to those two and you have a party. Vergil/Wesker/Magneto. Until you get into more advanced stuff (aka the bullshit) it’s pretty much the hooked on phonics of top tier teams. Magneto probably has the steepest learning curve of the 3 as well as being the deepest imo so hit up the Mag forums/do some hw for that. I know my Magneto movement and neutral game was atrocious for a good week or two. All the basic to advanced stuff for Vergil has already been explained/layed out for the most part.
@Din0 In regards to Crystal I find it more annoying that the multiple hits make the float vary on everyone unlike Samurai Edge, especially in the corner when I want to use Round Trip SH. Other than that it’s an OTG, it’s on Dante, I’ll take it.
In the corner I call Crystal > backdash > Round Trip > Medium Judgement Cut > Lunar Phase > etc.
If I’m just outside the corner then I just stick with call Crystal > Walk Forward > Round Trip > c.H > (Wait for Round Trip to hit on the way back) Lunar Phase > etc. which also works in the corner as well if you back dash before the Round Trip.
It’s all rather consistent. The only thing I’m torn about is what to do at full screen, call Crystal > Round Trip > c.H > L Judgement Cut > c.H > Stinger can be a bit finicky on certain characters, delaying the Round Trip or the first c.H seems to help but I still don’t feel completely confident in it. Crystal > Walk back > Round Trip. M Judgement Cut > Stinger is another option but it’s still pretty iffy (and leaves out both c.H’s, which sucks)
EDIT:
The way I see it, Vergil on point with an OTG assist is going to kill everything he touches. Vergil second with someone like Magneto/Dante or insert half decent character here in front of him is going to kill everything as well.
I like Vergil’s start of the round options over Dante’s (Mash Helm Breaker hurrdurr) while Dante has a much better time avoiding incoming BS which Vergil has no ability to do without Devil Trigger. If Vergil starts on point, anytime he chooses to DHC out to Dante due to low health or whatever, he will then be incoming with Devil Trigger active and be able to double jump to reposition himself before mashing Helm Breaker (dead serious). His air dash can also get him out of incoming crap pretty well even if he can’t block during it due to how far it travels.
The only real issue I have with Vergil on point is using level 1 X-Factor to convert off of random Helm Breakers, but I quickly got over that, getting to kill the first character without meter puts you at an absurd advantage as you run Vergil’s stupid incoming mixups and get to ToD the next character and crown the last one. If you hit the second character with a Helm Breaker, spend X-Factor and proceed to shit on the last one with the overabundance of meter you just got.
Moreover, Vergil gets more out of Crystal than Dante gets out of Rapid Slash. On this team you’ll have Disruptah either way, which is simply a better assist than Rapid Slash.
Anyone playing Taskmaster, Vergil, Akuma? Or Taskmaster, Vergil at all? If so, what assist are you using for Vergil? Rising Sun helps Taskmaster extend his combos while Rapid Slash helps Taskmaster push the opponent way while zoning.
As much as it hurts to admit, I just replaced Dante with Vergil.
I use Rapid slash since it’s a good keep away assist and as well as offensive since it buys some time for Taskmasters spidey swing cancelled into Arrows (fully charge to bait high block) or j.H and follow.
My main team right now is Vergil/dante (crystal)/akuma (tatsu but I’m currently looking for a good character with a good OTG assist that would work in a Vergil/???/Dante (with either weasel shot or jam session) shell. Lately I’ve been messing around with deadpool and ghostrider. Any suggestions?
Doom Hidden Missiles… covers a good portion of your neutral game holes, keeps superjumpers for going ham wild all say long, and it OTGs… give it a try… you’ll like it
Thanks for the suggestion. I completely forgot that the missles OTG’d. I’ve already gotten used to getting into sword loops with the missle OTG. The fact that it also helps my neutral game is a big plus.
I don’t know what happened to the ridiculously long post I typed up yesterday (must have forgot to hit submit again -.-) but I was going to suggest Doom potentially as well. Also, if you’re down to learn some real execution, you could use Viper. Though, Viper/Vergil is the better shell.
It should also be noted that you’ll definitely want to make sure you keep Round Trip charged up. Any gaps in pressure when using Doom could result in an extremely easy happy birthday. Excessive use of Round Trip largely prevents those gaps.
i assume you are talking about doom with plasma beam assist? i am actually thinking of trying out vergil/wesker/doom. would you know if doom’s beam works well with vergil for mixups/starting combos? i notice many players use very fast startup beam assists like mags or hawkeye so i was wondering if doom beam hinders vergil’s mixup game.
i also notice on ur sig your main team is wesker gouki vergil, what does vergil assist do for your team?
Well in his case he needed an OTG so I was referring to using Doom w/ Missiles assist.
As for your question(s), Doom beam works well with Vergil for mixups, however, you must keep in mind how much scaling is added to the combo by starting with that. Even if you were in DT for the entire combo, the damage you would get off it would be Strider-like.
Which… that’s not necessarily a problem. When I ran Vergil on point I went for more of a reset style of play with him to basically build meter for Akuma, which worked just fine. If you play more of a reset game with him, there’s not a whole lot of need to worry about the scaling. If you’re looking to kill characters without risking resets though, you might want to stay away from that.
As for what Vergil’s assist does for my team, it gives me an incoming mixup that may as well be unblockable that leads into 700k+ if Wesker is on point. If Akuma is on point, the only thing it really helps with is runaway fireballing and keeping people out when they XF. Using it that way is generally a bad idea, but Akuma has a great punish for pretty much any character who trys to challenge it. It forces them to try to attack me from the air, which is a place where Akuma is actually quite strong. Though, if I can position myself properly, it leads into a mixup kill combo for Akuma as well. Though, the main point behind it (my team order) is that A) I hate anchor Akuma, B) I concocted kill combos that work from pretty much any kind of combo I perform between Akuma and Vergil, and C) I think XF3 Wesker is a waste.
Also, as far as I’m concerned, Vergil is -the- anti-BS anchor character.
Hey everyone, I’m still relatively new to playing Vergil, but my current team is
Vergil/Storm/Stryder
I am thinking about swapping out Stryder for Wesker, since Wesker’s assist may be better for extending combos and I would like to build more meter with Vergil. My goal is to only need 1 bar to extend combos over 900k with him. Is that possible with my current team?
What do you guys think of Vergil (rapid slash), Dorm (dark hole)& Strange ( bolt of balls sack). with Dr strange assist Vergil is just nasty. All 3 are pheonix killer and teleporting characters.
Can any body show or give me 2 Vergil combo for optimum damage, thanks
i have a question i been running zero vergil wesker team online because of lag i run vergil taskmaster wesker. lately i feel even zero dies my mixup game lacks with just a wesker assist backing vergil. also ive been trying out ammy at anchor for the lock down assist which i get better mixups but ammy anchor needs meter and has to work really hard. im stuck in the middle.
if you guys got suggestions for other characters the only other characters i feel comfortable using in terms of there movement and there overall feel but is viper, taskmaster, akuma, x23, strider. i would use dante but im pad players and plinking his stinger is retarded on pad and doing it the bold canceling method isn’t consistent for me. also given the characters i listed are better off at pt with the exceptions of akuma and strider but i want to leave my team at zero/vergil for there bff synergy.
let know what you guys think and what suggestions and tips you have
