Red Octane stick on sale: $20

Iseelba, I’m very intersted on your future Sanwa Bat-style shipment. I will most likely be ordering one or two sticks, depending on how things go.

Also, please make a guide. It’d be so greatly appreciated it’s not even funny.

I’ll make a guide when I get my battops in.

If you are used to Perfect 360’s (i.e. Happ Hard Spring), they are not very stiff. Most Sanwas are pretty twitchy joysticks.

You could…I’ll try that with one of my boxes. You will have to know exactly where the screws are though

No…its a different type. I thought about that and tried. You can’t use the top of the RO joystick either, because it is glued on tight.

No. I hold my stick from the bottom (like a champagne glass), and you barely even notice the nut is there.

Can the base be painted? Or the black sticker that’s covering the wood have to be remove first?

Oh, and where can I purchase the padding on RO? I like to put one on a DC Agetec. Bottom has some scratches and rusting I like to cover.

I just pushed the padding to the side to get the bottom off. it doesn’t really affect the appearance too much.

i havent opened my box yet, but i dont see holes on top, my guess is that the controller is held to the board by screws down under right. am i right??

ill prob stick with happ controlers and just add spacer material for the bottom of the box. happ is so much cheaper and i could use the extra dough…

thanks for answering all my questions, iseelba!!

Heres mine fitted with all Happ. Had to give a little bit of lift at the bottom to fit the thing. Kinda ghettos but oh well.

Nice stick. Ghetto little mod you made to make the happ fit. LOL.

thats exactly how i pictured it to be. im sticking with happ, so much cheaper. u got those things at home depot?

Hey lseelba, how would you describe the feel of the JLW’s compared to the JLF? Pretty similar with just a different mount pattern, or a different joystick entirely?

They are very similar. Personally, I can’t tell the difference without looking at the underside of the stick. I like the JLW’s because they are easier to wire and service.

The mounting plates are actually independent of the stick. You could put the mounting plate I have on a JLF and it would fit an American cabinet very well.

Yeah, I got the parts at homedepot, I just walked up and down the isles till i saw what i needed…

heres a pick of the package incase you were gonna head down there.

A little side note. This mod obviously makes the arcade sticks a bit noisier. But some ppl like the clicketyclack of arcade sticks. :karate:

Spiffy, thanks for all the usefull info! I’m going to go with the whole Happ Package

lseelba, thanks for the info. I’ve always been curious about the JLW’s.

Lseelba…just got my shipment in yesterday. Now it makes me wish I had ordered two Red Octanes instead of just one. I think the price went up a bit on them too. Damn. Well in any event I put the Sanwa together late last night and it performs very well. Just had to do a bit of soldering here and there and made sure to use the Red Octane mounting plate and I was good to go. I had to make sure to really tighten the ball on the shaft cuz it kept loosening out of the shaft when I was first playing with it.

I definitely see why everyone praises the Sanwas. They are very precise sticks. I barely have to move the stick to get it to do what I want it to do. I’m admittedly not used to such precision in a stick so right now I’m still hitting the stick a bit too hard at times to do the motions and I don’t get them out. With practice though I’m sure I’ll get it down. My brother’s friend was around at the same time while I was putting it together and now he wants a Red Octane with Sanwa too. LOL.

It’s my last one. Hit me up on AIM.

Lou

I just got a couple more of these things on friday. I opened one of them up, and the Stick was mounted totally crooked inside. I’m glad that I had no intention of using that peice of crap. Out of the box, the diagonals werent working either.

Yeah, and with the base that’s easily removeable…it’s almost as if they assume you’re going to mod the stick. LOL.

I got some JLW battops and a bunch of new Happ Competition buttons today. I’ll probably be selling kits. I’m working on a tutorial now

Just finished the mod today; here’s a pic w/ the JLW Iseelba hooked me up with (good shit man )

The stock buttons were hard as a motherfucker to get out. Didn’t have any real tools around so I had to use a scissor handle… seriously :xeye:
