Recovering from Red Ring

Since my 360 has lovely timing, I woke up this evening to the infamous Red Ring of Death. Happy Birthday indeed.

It also seems my warranty is out, and I honestly can’t justify paying $110 and losing my system for the better part of the month to solve this problem. So my question is, If i purchase a bare bones 360 and place my existing hard drive into it will I be able to recover my gamertag and saves without issue? Maybe someone had a simillar issue?

If you put the same hard drive into the new xbox you will have all your saves. However, if you had any downloadable arcade games they will require an internet connection before you can play them, every time.

Also, look on the website, some of the errors that the red rings give are covered under an extended warranty. That’s what happened to me. I didn’t have to pay a cent.

This IS true, BUT I think I recall hearing about a one-time transfer that you can do after you get a new console so you dont have to be connected…maybe. Need to check up on that.

But yes I feel your pain. I got SSF4 the day it dropped…then got home and recieved espgaluda 2 from play asia in the mail, I was soo freaking excited. Turn on the xbox and it sounded like someone threw a rock at my window. Just one loud pop and my shit red ringed. Unreal.
