I got a hold of this the other day.

Got a barely ever used (I’d say there’s likely to be less than 5 hours of use) **Hori RAP 4 Kai Silent **this weekend.

Price paid: $0.

My cousin bought this HRAP4 Kai Silent with SFV came out. He tried using it for a day or two, but didn’t like how close the Options button was to the main buttons. So he said ā€œscrew itā€, and bought himself a Mad Catz TES+. His HRAP4 Kai Silent just sat there since, and this past weekend, he just gave it to me.

Mind you, this isn’t the first time he’s done that; he did something similar with a TE Rnd1 for PS3 back in 2011 (as seen here).

Not sure what I’m going to do with this HRAP4 Kai Silent; I already have an at-home stick (my VLX Kuro) and a travel-stick (modded TvC/SE). We’ll see, I guess.

He could have just opened it up and disconnected the start button if he was afraid of accidentally hitting it.

How much to take it off your hands?

Agreed.
There were other little quirks that made him switch to the Mad Catz TES+; first off he wasn’t too fond of the silent Hayabusa and Kuros in the HRAP4 Kai Silent, and preferred Sanwas. When I offered to mod/swap the parts with him, he then said he wasn’t crazy about the proximity of the Options button. Meh, it’s his money after all.

Haha.
I’m going to hang onto it for now, even if I don’t end up using it. Track record will show that I’ll eventually mod this and give it back to my cousin in a handful of years anyways.

good move bro, dont sell on a gift, your cousin could have done that himself and got some money back

and with the rate these new MCZ pcb’s are failing, he may need it back soon!!

You should tell your cousin the easiest thing to do to fix the options button being close to the main buttons is just put a stock JLF or LS-55 type spring in it.

I guess time will tell how well this goes for me, but I took my first step into the more ā€œcollectorā€ side of things by buying a Hyperstick off Yahoo Auctions. Up to now I’ve stuck to current stuff (TE-S Soul, Kai, and Omni) and tinkering. After making eyes at a bunch of Namco sticks from across the room, I ended up liking the idea of stock Seimitsu and the overall design of the thing. http://page19.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/x450636801

Going through Buyee and shipping to the US, so I’m hoping it makes it here in decent shape.

Hypersticks are amazing. I have one to stock in box and one to rock. It’s my favorite stick from that era. Good choice.

Ā£90 for the pair because they lived in the middle of nowhere and were pick up only. Sometimes it pays to get in touch and offer to do the courier booking for them

i would sell the pad as fast as possible to make it a better deal even tho its already good.

@appomo well, that was the plan…there’s a bigger story there. I got it shipped into work, since couriers are unreliable creatures, then unboxed both and took them home, leaving the boxes in a storage room at work to take home on another day when I had more space in my bag.

Got back to find they’d had a big recycling binge and thrown both packages out so I’m left with an unboxed, uncertified TES and a now obsolete, also unboxed MK1 fight pad…so a little salty…still a good deal though and my non-fg friends get along well with the pad so NM haha

;-;

Got a Hori Real Arcade Pro 4 for $67.99 ship used. This was literally posted 1 hr ago, and I didn’t hesitate to buy it. How good is this deal? Should I replace the pcb though with a brooks pcb just for the input lag that ppl claim to be bad? Back panel is loose too, anyway to fix this?

As long as it covers the systems you plan to play on, I wouldn’t bother changing the PCB. Despite the Teyah cult making a big stink out of it, latency (at least coming from the peripheral) is rarely ever going to be enough to ruin your experience.

EDIT: With that being said though, if I ever got a stick for that price, I’d have no problems with spending extra money on a Brook UFB for the extra console coverage.
