Got some professional CRTs in my area for a good price (they are very hard to find here in Canada it seems). Paid about $400 USD for:
(2) 20" BVM-20F1U
(1) 20" PVM-20L5
(2) 13" Panasonic-BT-H1390Y
(2) BKM-10R Monitor Control Unit
The BVMs were also fully populated with 2 additional RGB input cards. I also got a couple BNC cables and terminators thrown in, in addition to BNC/RCA adapters.
I could have probably paid less, but I had been searching for about 2 years and missed out on a few chances. After I service and calibrate these I may pass 1-2 of them on to recoup a good chunk of what I paid.
For the price, yeah. But the regular PC engine controller only has 2 buttons, and this has 6. Maybe some games take advantage of that? It sounds like SFII does. It could be used for shmups too.
Wow.
I had a PC engine once, for Spatterhouse. And only for spatterhouse. I think I gave it to someone years ago
Never knew they had a street fighter game on that thing.
I still have the ISO for Castlevania âRondo of Bloodâ? (with the best âBloody Tearsâ soundtrack of any Castlevania).
Yea I grew up on thst Splatterhouse and Aeroblasters, Keith Courage, Yo Bro!, JJ & Jeff, Fighting Street, Ninja Spirit etc. Awesome to look back and hear the superior audio compared to sega and snes and arcade versioms of most titles. And just behind the scenes of how those games came to be : ).
posted this in the arcade cab thread but thought id post it here too (with better pics after doing some work).
This is my first cab, been thinkin of getting one for two or three years now. I actually had to pass on another MK before this one (another conversion).
But Iâm glad I did because this one is everything i wanted in my first cab. so yeah. also not Dynamo or 3-Koam, think itâs some generic âz-backâ. its pretty decent shape, cleaned up the control panel and the buttons, replaced the bulb and starter for the marquee light, and replaced the Happ Ultimates with some Comps (not IL but i figured id give the buggers another chance, kept the cherrys from the old sticks). might need to change the t-molding some day since its pretty knackered at the bottom
i got it for $350, which i thought was awesome good deal. dude knew he was selling it cheaper. he got from a guy he said he nagged for years to sell him some games that sat in a warehouse for years. I seriously think i mightâve missed out on it if it wasnt for the 4th of july and the people who wanted it were out of town (MUEHEHEHE). he also had a SFII rainbow edition which i dont think he knew was a rainbow.
also you can see the cigarette burns near the start buttons. adds character
