The case of that stick is fantastic it’s sturdy everything is wired up nice and neat and it even got a little door for fast balltop swap you should definetly get one
The blue is a bit toy-like. I’ve got official Saturn and MegaDrive Controllers herre and Competition Pro’s and they’re definitely a lot cheaper in look and feel. The Play SEGA controller has a reputation online for breaking too, I know they aren’t popular on here, but kinda liking them so far.
Been playing Rent A Hero, Champion Boxing and Sword of Vermilion on them all day long. Not sure how they’d fair with a Virtua Fighter, or even a Sonic, where you’re leaning on the d-pad all the time, but will report back
Worth noting I’ve been using the same Tesun USB PSX controller since Phantasy Star Universe back in '06
That was supposed to be a cheap, entry level controller and it’s outlasted a staggering amount of Official Xbox 360 controllers in the time.
Cool i bought a wired x360 controller like 2 years ago and now the PCB is doing some random stuff like the bumpers stop working after like 30 minutes of play and to get them to work again you have to unplug it wait like 60 seconda and then replug it in i’ve even took the controller apart and tested it for a bit by pressing the actual little tiny buttons that gets pressed by the external bumpers and it still does the same shit i also have a wireless black one wich i got with my 360 in 2011 and the left thumbstick on that is getting a little wiggly to the point that it’s always slightly moved to the left making it trigger the left direction a little bit in those overly sensitive games
Btw any testing done yet with saturn fighting games on SSF?
Virtua Fighters 1 and 2 so far and SF Alpha 3 and Third Strike on Fightcade. It’s easy to remember why the Saturn pad dominates as a fighting pad. Diagonals are so easy to find and you can distinguish between directional presses really easy. The Play Sega version looks and feels cheaper, but I’ve not felt like I’ve had to hold back on the controller - it doesn’t feel like a fighting game will break it. No problems with it so far. Just eyeballing it, but it doesn’t feel noticeably laggy or anything like that.
After years of avoiding him, I’m finally working on my Akira Yuki, which I remember being tough on pad for having a lot of directional stuff and having a great time so far. Might put up a review and a comparison of the Play Sega and the Model B on Youtube at some point, although there is a comparison thread on SRK with pics from a year ago:
Anyway, this week’s pickups from a local flea market:
SCPH5XXX Series PS1 (With Component adapter, no other cables)
1 original PS1 controller
6x PS1 1mb cards (5 in cases)
Boxed Smart Cartridge
Unboxed Action Replay Cartridge
and a PS1 Mouse £15
Fat PS2 (with cables)
2x DS2 Controllers
and an 8mb PS2 card £10
Daang that’s nice i went to the local flea market yesterday too to sell a bunch of old stuff and to buy a new ps2 since the one i have is dead found some asshole that tried to sell one with clearly broken disc drive (it was missing the spinner) even thought he said it was perfectly functional (yeah right a perfectly functional disc drive with no spinner) no controllers no games for 50 fucking euros
This is actually my first PS2 haha. Bought it primarily to play Virtua Fighter 4, as I think it only ever existed in Cabinet and PS2 form, leaving a giant hole in my Virtua Fighter history. In the UK, you’re typically looking as £20-£30 for a fat PS2 and £30-£40 for a slim. I personally saw the fat version as a better machine.
It’s the best system of all time IMO lots and lots of great games from the pre-microtransaction and lack of content bullshit era (i mean tekken 5 disc has all the ps1 tekken games and a little spin-off beat em up all packed in the regular disc,no limited edition,no preorder bonus and no dlc’s or any other modern bullcrap) BTW still waiting for vf6 sega
I just got my Wii Tatsunoko VS Capcom Mad Catz stick, complete in box, for under $50 shipped all the way from Canada. Seemed like a good deal to me anyway, as everywhere I look they start at $65.
Right out of the box, I have to say I am extremely impressed by the build quality. Buttons feel good, lever feels like a stiffer JLF, and the dust cover pattern was a nice touch. What I’m absolutely loving though is how the artwork feels. What is that, textured vinyl? I’m even wondering if I should stick with my original plan of putting it in my old TE case.
Either way I should probably start putting my SE shells up for sale (I have two of them already)… maybe I can do that before the urge to build another stick rears its head…
Got myself another ps1 yesterday at a flea market (the other one had broken lens) it came chipped, with cables, 2 controllers and lots of discs which… Only 3 work 1 of them is a masterpiece (wipeout 3) the other 2 not so much (Harry Potter and apocalypse)
Here’s the 3 discs (the Central one is pirated Harry Potter) i threw the other ones in the trash they were scratched beyond repair http://m.imgur.com/RyYC37B
And here’s the controllers they’re not that good compared to the official ones but at least they work. http://m.imgur.com/P5cyRHp
No memory cards unfortunately but whatever i got zillions of those
This evening @GalacticPhantom hooked me up with an awesome AIB case (Fits Happ style sticks & is NOIR layout for 6 Sanwa/Seimitsu style buttons) $30 and a Wico Perfect360 (it needs little TLC, but I’ll get it working) $85.
