For those who don’t know, this is a custom stick by a Philippine builder who goes by jello900, specifically, this is one of his “standard” cases (he also has a TE lookalike case). My first impressions was “damn! this is smaller then I thought it would be.” Indeed, the stick is both relatively compact (slightly smaller then a TE “S”) and lightweight (more on that later). It’s also pretty slim with the JLF just fitting in the case.

The whole stick itself costs Php 5500 which is about $126.5 making it one of the cheaper customs out there. Off course, the price does come with a few drawbacks. It’s not made of any exotic hard wood (which should explain the lightness) and there aren’t any options for stylish paintjobs. That said, alot of the savings comes from the fact that some of the parts are cheaper here (acrylic costs 1/2 of what it would in the US).

The lightness itself could be something of a dealbreaker, the owner of the stick did mention that he wished it was heaver - however I myself found no problems playing with it. PCB used is a genetic bootleg PC/PS3 PCB, 360 PCB costs more since he’ll have to padhack an official pad (although last I talked to him, he was planning to use Joytron PCBs). Also, the wire isn’t removeable (then again, I’ve yet to find any Neutrik’s or similar locally). One small detail I did like was the flush mounted 24mm’s in the back.

The biggest issue however for anyone who may want to have one of these made the shipping. If you’re living in the US/Canada, it would be better to find someone to build something similar for you. Best way is if you know someone who lives here who can send it to you or bring it with them when they do go across the Pacific (I believe this is how Mark was planning to get his, have it sent to his parents, dunno if that pushed through though). If you live in the country though or within the region, shipping is obviously less of an issue.

Personally, I’d have one made if not for the fact that I do have a TEK based custom being assembled somewhere in Maryland.

Wow, that artwork is my background. Good choice. I like that stick. Clean, and cheap. Sucks about shipping. How much would a case run? I’d probably snap one up if it wasn’t for the shipping. Matte black is good enough for me.

Just a note, if this is the same $20 MIR that Asus was offering through buy.com, it needs to be purchased (and possibly filed) by 10/31/10. I got mine in 3 days from buy.com with their free shipping, and this monitor is amazing for the price. I’m not a lag expert, but I couldn’t notice anything on this after playing on it for about an hour, and I normally play on my blast city CRT.

Recently found the PERFECT table for my HSS. It’s available at Ikea and it’s called the Laiva. The HSS fits well but it’s a Slight bit too small for two TE’s to fit. What even better is the back top of the table has a sliding piece which is FANTASTIC for cable management…

I took some pictures with my HSS on it, but check it out for sure on Ikea’s website. Only 20$!!

As you can see, HORI was kind enough to supply screw holes for joystick mounting plates. Apparently LS-55/56 mounts at the correct height, which is cool. PCB is common ground, which is also cool.

I may or may not art mod it, but it’s going to get an LS-55 (never used one before) and some quality buttons pronto.

Weird how they decide to use a removable connector from the main pcb for the buttons, unlike the soldered and hot glued wires in the VX SA. Frankly, for an entry level stick, it looks pretty damn good. Where could I pick one up at? They arent listed on amazon.com or the US horistore.

The table is the perfect height for seated play. Here is an angled picture of the setup.

Sadly, it only comes in this dark brown / Black Color.

If anyone wants a better picture of the back where the slide deal is, let me know and i’ll put some up.
