Finally got a copy of Marvel Super Heros vs Street Fighter for PSOne for about 14$.
PS1 ports for later Capcom tagteam games are junk, IMHO.
Glad to see you didn’t pay over $14 for the game but honestly it isn’t worth it at that price.
I had both a Saturn AND PS1 when games like SF Alpha 1-3, X-Men: COTA, Darkstalkers 1-3, X-Men Vs SF, and Marvel Vs SF were brand-new.
(Years later, I still have my Saturn(s) but the PS1 was traded in a long time after its final fatal malfunction. Haven’t looked back since. Glad that Sony fixed all the PS1 shortcoming with the PS2!)
They were almost inevitably better on the Saturn because it supported 2-D much better than the PS1 did and had more system memory to boot. The tag-team games (X Vs SF and M Vs SF) were particularly better on the Saturn because the 4-Meg RAM expansion cartridge allowed the Saturn to run those games at full speed with few to no dropped frames of animation and with all tag-team options in place. The games also loaded very quickly with the RAM cart, too.
The PS1, on the other hand, could NOT handle the tag-team games well at all. It just didn’t have the memory to handle character switchovers and the Vs games on that system were horrible. (A RAM expansion cart wouldn’t have worked on the PS1, either. None of the available ports for RAM carts would have supported fast enough data exchange to be worth it. In those days, you had to have a fairly big cart – at least Genesis size – to fit decent memory.) PS2 could do the Marvel Vs games justice, yes, but by the time that system came out the Vs games were old news!
It’s more of a collection thing. I have them on Saturn too lol.
Well,
Then you can compare and contrast!
I already wrote how I voted with my dollars!
Don’t regret that decision to this day.
I’m unhappy that Sega didn’t make it in the console wars but Sega’s management and their mishandling of the latter years of the Genesis (crappy add-ons like the 32X and the Sega CD), the Sega Saturn and Bernie Stollar “hoof-in-mouth disease”, and the inability to counter PS2 hype (which really killed the Dreamcast) is what did them in.
There’s no way Sega will come back from this… let alone us ever seeing anything but reissues of old Atari systems, too. Not gonna happen.
Those latter two Sega systems were the ones that were great for Capcom fans…
PS2 wasn’t so bad with the Street Alpha and Vampire/Darkstalkers collections, either. Wish I could say that the SNK compilations impressed me, too, but oh well at least they released better ports of the Sam Showdown games than they did on the PS1!
I kind of hope the PS3 will pick up more 2-D fighters in addition to 3-D. Arcana Heart 3 and more Capcom ports might be nice…
Back on Topic –
Best retrograming buy in recent memory –
MC Cthulu. The PCB that keeps on giving with the RJ-45 support.
For $35, not a bad way to reuse/upgrade old and new controllers across different consoles.
And it’s upgradeable, too! Recently added support for 3DO, TG-16, and Sega Saturn…
found street fighter alpha 3 on dreamcast jap version for 5 dollar and a agatec dreamcast controller for 25 dollar
in a local store
Got this from ebay 16 dollars shipped.
not bad. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=110523728556&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT
Very good deals, and both are well worth it!
I kind of prefer SF Zero 3 on the Saturn myself but it was kind of a send-off gift from Capcom to Sega fans and I’m sure not as many copies of that version were printed… The game does load faster on the Dreamcast, for sure!
Best home version for consoles is probably the PS2 version in the Alpha Anthology collection, though…
i got the alpha anthology too found it for 7 dollar but with the vga cable on dreamcast or hdmi on the ps3 what is the best option u think?
SSFIV Asian Version (PS3) - because it comes with a free DLC coupon.
Its ok deal but u could have got this stick on Trading Outlet for 115 shipped same stick.

U only need 50 Post to trade or sell but buying is ok.

bought a $75 TE and a $40 SE with all Sanwa Parts.
I’m happy.
Posted this the first time I was here(about 3 weeks) but never saw this thread. I found for $55 a DC ASCII FT Stick(SNK edition). Everything is in Japanese but that doesn’t matter.
Must be a great find since the people who responded to that thread told me this stick comes with an optical stick. I don’t know the differences between optical and non optical but it must be great since someone else said they paid a lot of money once just for the stick alone.
Got an ASCII FT stick Capcom Version for $30 last week.
Bought a norwalk juicer for only $8. Yes just only $8 unreal.
I have no idea if I should post it in this thread, but does anyone have any experience with arcadeshock?
http://www.arcadeshock.com/store.asp
I want to order a HRAP3 from them and I dunno if I should.
