Recent Purchases and Good Finds

I’m no stick veteran, but it seems like every stick has its good and bad points. I just got a TE and a Namco and I love both of them. No complaints here.

All down to preference really. As far as sticks go though, this is the best I’ve ever used to my liking. And so, it is the stick for me. :china:

Best purchase I’ve made recently for stick mods are 18mm length, 4M flush self-clinching studs.

I bought these from SmallParts.com to use for my Agetec Dreamcast joystick mod. I’m currently just putting in a Seimitsu LS-32-01 and Sanwa pushbuttons to upgrade performance but have already predrilled and installed 24mm Sanwa buttons for Start, Select, and Home for when I eventually get an MC Cthulu PCB and RJ-45 jack installation. Where I’ll put the RJ-45 to rear mount I don’t know yet but it’s going to happen…! There is plenty of space for both the RJ-45 Ethernet mount and the MCC (miniscule PCB if there ever was one!) but it’s a matter of juggling where to cut another 24mm hole for the 'J-45 adapter connection. I still haven’t decided on a middle mount below the VMU (which might interfere with plans for a future LED light in that area) or to the right or left of the joystick (LS-32-01) itself. Might go with the joystick neighbor mounting to avoid a VMU LED conflict… I can definitely put in more CAT 5 cabling to snake around the casing interior. It’s got lots of nice support struts and pillars to wrap or secure cabling and insulated wires t!

The studs are very good at creating a common mount interface for LS-32-01 S-plates and JLF TF-P1 flat plates. As MKL suggested with his Agetec mod, you don’t want to use flush screws because they create extra tension on the PVC plastic used for the Agetec casing that can eventually create cracks in the plastic through stress. Flush screws need wider space to settle (their screw driverheads) than their threads and are best used in metal and not plastic.

picked these up for less than the price of a TE.

can’t wait to get started on building boxes for them.

i thought the card reader on the net city panel was pretty nifty. i’ve not seen one before.

Wow, those are nice Sega/Astro panels!

Getting back to my own recent stick venture, I’ve got to say that the Agetec Dreamcast Arcade Stick is easily the best pre-PS2 joystick I’ve ever played with. Very solid, very nice piece of engineering and excellent ergonomic design work.

Makes me wish someone would just steal the case design and manufacture it again…!

After retrofitting it with an LS-32-01 and Sanwa, it became a worthy contender IMHO to the best current-gen joysticks that I have – the Hori SA/SE lines and the Mad Catz TE.

Even though the Agetec DC stick has a footprint simliar in size to the Hori FS3/Wii Fight Sticks, it’s much more solid and heftier than those joysticks.

Thanks to MKL and Jonesy for putting their mod instructions up on the web for people to follow and diverge from for their own Agetec mods. They helped me immensely with the hard parts of the mod.

I threw out the original joystick and buttons but kept the PCB and all its connections and case screws. It’s very simple to retrofit the base for new parts but it is an involved mod that took me two weeks of on-off work to accomplish… Far more case modding was involved than what I had to do for my Wii Fight Stick but I think it was worth the sweat, tears, and blister I got on an index finger!

The mod’s technically not all done… I have a bit more work to cut down on the case plastic to make the buttons fit snugger and also a plexiglass to install once I print out the new customized artwork…

Found this RCA HDmi To Dvi Adapter for- are ya ready for this:

$0.01!!!

Kinda nifty! ONE CENT!! Hahaha!

Enjoy!

new sega dreamcast hkt-7500 twin stick controller

$99

That’s a steal for that stick!

Still prefer the older Saturn version with its decal work, but nonetheless a good deal for a harder-to-find joystick.

(Of course, I wish they worked on more games than just the V-O series. Never did like buying single-purpose joysticks or controllers like that of any kind…)

For those who don’t already have one and/or have missed the Gameshark deals.
Amazon is selling the 360 TE for <$100 free shipping. Can’t get lower then this in the states.

FINALLY Snagged a Anniversary stick for a decent price. 53$ shipped. Complete in box. So Stoked!

^that IS a good find! i need 2 for my collection :stuck_out_tongue:

Dunno if this is actually better to padhack than a classic controller. Stumbled across this guy and figured I’d post anyway just in case:

Can’t wait to see what’s inside it. Apparently it’s just some random PC USB controller board.

Came in the mail today. 43$

Love it. Got some parts on the way…

wow kaku! whered did you get those panels from??

Also got a second Marvel Vs Capcom TE Stick (PS3) this past weekend.

Already replaced the 30mm buttons with Seimitsu Pearls, the ball handle with a green bubbletop, doubled the JLF springs, and installed an octogate. Have to redo the custom artwork since the color isn’t vivid enough. Stick’s not finished yet but is usable.

Again, the artwork needs to be redone, the 24mm’s replaced with Seimitsu screw-ins, at least an Art Hong plexi, and perhaps an LS-32-01.

Very easy to rotate wiring to a conventional PS3 layout. The 4 right-most buttons get their wiring rotated clockwise! Easy, easy fix to an unconventional layout that’s good for one game…

It’s also good for hdr:bgrin:

If you guys show enough interest, i’ll list it on ebay with low or no reserve. I work 12+ hours a day, and i have a premo Taito Type X2 collecting dust in my closet complete with 2GB ram upgrade and the Gladiac 7900 GTS card - 3.4GHz P4… It will play anything. It has Battle Fantasia + Instruction Book (in Japanese) + Artwork + USB Security Dongle, a Sega JVS board 837-13551 with a power supply (Won’t pass POST without JVS) and a 3ft DVI to HDMI video cable. The Type X2 board is a custom Taito spec’d board with a custom Phoenix BIOS and special JVS controller I/O header pins ETC - won’t be emulated for a while. What should i do with it? Any offers? Where should I post?

It’s not technically an astounding bargain, but I just picked up a SFIV SE for 29.99, which is about $45
