Reboot of old school fighting games IP's

I would like a new Battle Arena Thoshinden game, maybe it was garbage for some people but i had a lot of fun with the first game in PS and the second game in my local arcade, good times.

Rival Schools and Bushido Blade!

Oh, but there WAS a new Toshinden…

Umm…Yeah. :V

Oh crap…, i didn’t know about it, but i don’t see the old characters there : /

Yeah, don’t ask me, because I sure don’t know what the deal with it is.

First thing I noticed was that it wasn’t made by takara (although I dont’ know if they exist or whatever), maybe character and game ownership got split somewhere?

The second game was published by capcom i think? i don’t know what happened after the second game lol.

Takara uff I remember them only when they developed the port of Fatal Fury Special for SNES (correct me if im wrong) and some N64 games i think.

Capcom distributed the arcade. Playmates published the PS1 version.

Takara also handled the SNES/Genesis ports of Art of Fighting and King of the Monsters.

The stranger part is how did Dream Factory end up making it.

Makes me sad to see what they are now.

They made the Transformers :stuck_out_tongue:

Did some research though, and Tomy is Takara, they merged.

Wikipedia has no idea why they dumped the old characters for new ones though… also they link to an article after the wii one came out where the makers of Ergheiz (of all things?) wanted to revive it.

Interesting, i also saw that there is a version of the first game in the Saturn Console with new scenes and dialogues, i had no idea it existed lol (Info. was not accesible for me in that time :p).

Well, that explains a good bit. As mentioned before, it’s sad to see Dream Factory in such a state now. I blame The Bouncer for all this.

Honestly, Darkstalkers and Rival Schools is all I wanna see. Those games have so much going for them and are so unique. My only fear is, the reboot them and do something like gems. But who am I kidding, Capcom’s to lame to go outside of the franchises they have now. But it’s fun to dream

kinda surprised nobody’s mentioned these two yet :

Techromancer and Cyberbots. i really dig big chunky robot beatdowns.

peace out.

I loved Techromancer and Cyberbots myself - but, I don’t want a sequel to them as much as I do Darkstalkers or Last Blade.

Streets of Rage

yeah, i saw the arcade version of this game from a few years back and iirc it was based off of Streets of Rage 2. it was sort of modified to be a Final Fight-style arcade brawler [which is one of the inspirations for the SOR series if i’m not mistaken] with a higher difficulty setting than the original Genesis version. did not try to play it though, MvC2 was all the craze back then.

wanted to try GGPO last time, but ended up just playing the computer on 3S, Red Earth and JJBA. aah, 2D goodness… i feel that Red Earth and Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure REALLY NEED a modern reboot ala SFIV and UMVC3. now. ORA! ORA!

peace out.

you have the fan made Streets Of Rage 5 which is nothing short of AMAZING
don’t even think SEGA could do better

Darkstalkers-(played the heck out of my psp version(got it cheap too) but my psp just died, and my computer is lucky it can use youtube,so emulations are out. So I’m kind of going through darkstalker withdrawals.
Killer instinct- We had this arcade that constantly switched out its games for new ones, and this was one of the ones that lasted longer than average and stayed in my memory. This, SF, MK,MSH,the old ninja turtle arcade game. It may not be that in depth but it was fun, really fun. A little work on balance, keep the insane combos and awesome announcer and there you go.

I keep going back and forth on whether or not another KI would be good or not. I can’t think of any game that so conveniently combines utterly great and utterly awful.
