Really EGM?

Let the hate flow then.

This is old Six. Should already be somewhere in FGD.

Was mentioned in that deleted thread that was basically randoms making accounts on SRK to bash the site.

Where is the other thread? I’m trying to search for it, just to see where it is.

Really?

LOL THEY STILL MAKE EGM?

Yes.

Wiz first closed it himself.

I actually wasn’t asking you that question.

Might as well leave this thread up then, since the other one is deleted.

I remember having the old EGM magazines and I used to remember that one of the reporters/editors where into fighting games and self-proclaimed they were good. I know they probably aren’t around there anymore but I remember that I used to have the impression that they at least gained some fanbase within the fgc because people would use to buy magazines like that for tips/moves/info whatever.

Though it is cool to write sensationalist articles, instead of real gaming journalism. It’s sad when Forbes does a better job on gaming than an actual gaming publication. Hell Forbes has the balls to call out other publications too.

I thought EGM went digital last year…

It actually ate shit a few years ago, then relaunched around 2010, with SSF4 on the cover.

It’s been kinda shit since then :frowning:

Evo 2012: 20 Years of Hate. Registration is now open.

This. I knew it was going downhill when most of the longtime reviewers were leaving, or new people joining and leaving just months later, with hardly any explanation. Then the magazine just stopped in general, and they started sending me Maxim as a replacement lol. I remember seeing it back on the newsstand and picking it up, only to see that the only person from the previous magazine was Shoe. It was just not the same anymore, it lost all of it’s charm. It felt too professional, I guess, like they were trying too hard. Not even Seanbaby could cheer me up. Oh well, time to end my miniblog…sniff

You’re probably talking about Sushi-X. I’m not sure it was meant to be taken seriously that he was all that good. Most of the information about him was jokes based on his ninja persona. He did give fighting games the lion’s share of his attention, though. If I remember right, the editor who wrote as Sushi-X changed a couple times, but it was mostly one guy.

They also had another guy for a while, Kelly Rickards, who was a big Street Fighter fanboy. I don’t remember if he was supposed to be good or not. Another of the early review crew editors (I think it was Crispin Boyer) claimed that he flunked one of his college classes because there was an arcade within walking distance that had SF2. Allegedly, he would get bored and leave in the middle of lectures.

EGM used to be a lot of fun.

You and I are kindred spirits.

Lets not pay attention to people who don’t care about our community.

Do you remember the arcade culture?
Do you remember the culture where you wouldn’t earn anyone’s respect until you started beating them?
You were nobody until you were able to stand up against the best of the place.
Do you remember the guys who stopped competing because they couldn’t win, and then got bitter and started to accuse the other more consistent players as elitists or non-friendly???

I can’t help to think that whoever wrote that is one of those…

You know… That article is a lot like that thing that happened last year. You know, that thing that caught people’s attention for a while but then we all couldn’t care about it.

I BELIEVE the fighting game guru of EGM was Che Chou

When did we become so soft that every article written about us mattered?

When we ignored them, they weren’t writing shit but now that they noticed we started paying attention and caring what they thought, everyone has a fucking opinion.

i dont know, one thing is not giving a fuck of what other people say, but lets be honest, letting that some random douchebag on a published media, starts speaking this kind of bullshit shouldnt be taken lightly, imo

It’s anecdotal evidence. I’m pretty sure you could change it to about Raider’s fans and it would sound accurate to someone somewhere.
