Realistic changes that can save SFxT?

Everyone is saying decrease stage size since Chen said it. Stage size is fine jesus. Just slow the timer down by 50%.

Other then the timeouts… Which aren’t really that big of a deal, the game is actually hella fun. I hope they keep this series alive. Excellent idea to mix sf and tekken.

People have been saying stage size since the game came out…

The timer issue, as I’ve said before is a combination of problems, simply increasing the timer solves none of those problems.

Slowing down health regeneration would help. Either that, or lower the amount that can be recovered.

that the thing tho how would they fix the stage sizes, people can keep saying it but the only way i can see anything changing with their size can not happen with a patch or expansion. it would have to be redesign that would in my mind require a new disc base game.

Also while i do agree on the timer is a issue. Do the normals throws really take more time or is it just the new angle that makes people think that? I do agree the supers take way to long tho.

Forgot to add an option to disable gems.
Some would say it’s problematic to cut yourself off from the purple gem abusing idiots since I’d say a good 70% of online (this side of the pond anyway) use them. I haven’t used any gems since day 1 since I figured they’d be banned. An option to find matches without them would be nice but then you probably would have like, 3 people pop up in your search XD.

Oh Francys Pai is back. Asked Eternal Blaze about you the other day. Anyhow changes…
EVO 2vs2 = ???the illuminati have killed it.

Been playing this game since it came out. It might need a few fixes what with the infintes and the sound bug online but it sure as hell doesn’t need saving.

I personally thinkstage size is fine since the corner is so far back its easier to get opponents who run away to walk them selves into the corner which is where you absolutely do not want to be at all.

I don’t think the game needs saving. However if I could pick a few things to change.

-Stop the timer during Supers, Cross Arts, and Pandora. Pretty commonly agreed on. It will also allow for better come backs that will increase hype for the game. There is nothing as disappointing as seeing someone make a game losing mistake with just a couple seconds on the clock and the game denies you the punish.

-Slight increase across the board to all characters move speed. The size of the stages are fine if the characters can move across them slightly faster or push turtlers into the corner faster. It will also speed up the footsies/poking game. Again resulting in less time outs.

-General polish of the game. Bug fixes, removal of infinites, some hitbox wonkyness etc.

I think this game suffers more from publicity failings than actual gameplay issues. Capcom messed up but it wasn’t with the game itself as much as all the controversy surrounding it.

Hyperbole much?

overall just fix the online issues fix some of the hitboxes because its kinda crazy lol patch the infinites and small bugs fix the time and fix the jab I mean if you dont have a dp your kinda stuck in walk jab for like 6 or 7 seconds thats kinda silly other than that the game is fun sure at high level it isnt fun to watch but its fun to play I think people should actually dig deep in the game since there’s so much in it I mean we didnt like marvel 3 heck most people who play it still dont like it but we are still finding things,oh also I wish for capcom to not bring out the tourney patch for gems just yet there needs to be a faster way than that I kinda wanna see gems in tourneys pandora comebacks would be pretty crazy lol

I nominate this post for the Darwin Award. Please sir explain to me how a bigger stage is easier to back someone into a corner than a smaller stage. For some reason the laws of the universe are telling me that if someone is running away, a smaller stage = backed to the corner quicker than a bigger stage.

Remove throw cinematics it’s not cool it takes away from the match

you know what would be perfect? if this anti-progressive thread that is unhealthy for the competitive spirit and metagame would just die already

Broken?

What’s broken?

You mean the infinites. One that only works on big characters, one which has suspect practicality, and 2 from banned characters. Not really sure what is broken about this game.

Doesn’t play like a street fighter game? So focus attacks, ex moves with invicibility and armor, bitches burn kicking across the screen are street fighter? Sfiv dumbed down footsies isn’t very sfiv since all of the top tier didn’t even need footsies to win.

Footsies are better here anyway. My own character Guile has improved pokes and hitboxes. I can whiff punish shit that I could never dream of whiff punishing in sfiv. People are forced to respect the ground game and not spazing focus attacks because they can’t hang. A good number of characters who actually got neutered in the sfiv system like Chun, Sim, Guile are better. They play their solid fundamentals game better without worrying about random bullshit.

Timer? Got no problem with it. The timer adds to another level of the psychology. And it forces you to make good decisions at the beginning of rounds. Also prevents comebacks. If you have been outplaying your opponent, its is even more impossible for him to come back. If anything it prohibits reckless gameplay. I’m all the better for it.

Lockdowns are sick in this game and hard to escape. Good. Now people need to tighten their shit up ij the neutral game and avoid these situations. Again smart decision making and good planning. People often put themselves in bad situations and use
escapes to save them. No more of that, unless you want to comit o burning meter on alpha counters. Bit those can be baited too.

If anything this game promotes a much better and sounder neutral game than sfiv. The clock is meant to put pressure on you. Slowing it down dumbs the metagame down.

The Tekken characters need help, but you’ll see them emerge as team synergy gets better.

People complaining about Rufus and Ryu, how much time have you commited to spacing and counterpokes? I commuted a lot of time, and Im whiff punishing Ryu with characters like Xiayou. Stop practicing combos and frametraps and start practicing pokes, anti air, spacing, and footsies. The game comes alive when you do.

Nope.

I’d be interested to see how much the game changes if the point character’s gray health rapidly decreases.

lol at all the peeps wanting SF 5. The game is different. Is it perfect? No. Neither is SF4. Remember Vanilla?

Give me a fixed timer, character tweaks (sup Hugo damage), and throws giving real hard KDs. Start here and i’m happy until something else comes up broken :p.

Like you, I’m one of the few who really enjoys SFxT, but your statements about the timer are just wrong.

  1. the timer does not prohibit reckless gameplay, it PROMOTES it. When your opponent has the life lead with 12 seconds left and starts running away, do you carefully approach them take your time with each decision? No, you’re forced to become reckless.

The only point in which the timer prohibits recklessness is in the first half of the round, but any player worth a damn should never be reckless during that time anyway.

  1. Yes, it can prevent comebacks, if you have a big life lead. But what if life is very close, and your opponent gets 1 hit a moment before the timer runs out? They just took the whole round with 1 jab into timeout, which is just as stupid as losing to a wakeup ultra in SF4.

Yeah, the timer adds this extra little ‘game’ you have to play with your opponent. But in my opinion this ‘game’ doesn’t add to the fun of SFxT, it takes away from it.

The timer makes the game far more strategic. If you have a slight life lead and a single jab at 1 second brings it back, then they earned it. I’ve seen it happen in a good many games, nothing exclusive or new in sf x t.

If someone gets desperate or reckless due to being behind, its up to you to stand your group and properly defend them. Anyone who practice situations and spacing should be able to curb random tendencies.

Fun is subjective. I am more corcerned with beating my opponent not KOing them. I’ve seen and played intense matches that ended in timeouts. The race for the clock, the need to make something happen, the need to make every second count. All very intense in my.book. when its a situation where you have no way of coming back and there 10 seconds left, your good.play earned you an impossible to comeback situation for your opponent. If just means for that round you did everything right and they did everything wrong.

I don’t expect everyone to fall in love with this, but I think it promotes more cautious play during matches. We already have our rush down helter skelter rush fest that makes blocking a bad thing and good defense a less than mandatory skill.

Give people who don’t want to hit buttons all day a game they can enjoy too. This game has a good balance of offense and defense. It’s promote smarter more methodical gameplay. The competitive scene needs such a game
