Real Places in Background Stages

Akuma blowed that shit up in 2I!

Good thread guys, great read.

BTW, I was watching some A3 videos tonight and realized how cool Blanka’s Madiera river stage is in that game. Does anyone agree that that one is the best Blanka stage by far? Even the SF4 stage lacks that lush natural look. I think SF4 missed a great opportunity on that stage if you look at the concept sketches - there was a great digital painting with the ruins of the crashed plane that Jimmy got to the jungle in (will upload a pic sometime soon if I can get around to getting my camera or capture card working).

I would love to see ‘any’ sf background sketch/concept art you have/know of. Pls link

Sorry for the delay, took a while to get around to hooking up to my capture device.

The Madiera River sketch with the plane I was talking about is here:

I posted a bunch more SF4 stage images in this thread if you’re interested.

Thanks alot for those, thats great

I’ve been doing some research into the Hong Kong ones, but no luck. The Sony building in 2nd Impact should be easy for anybody who knows the area.

Yep, that’s me. I’ve never put that much effort into avatars. I had that Double Dragon one for ages, then about 6 months ago I tried a SM2 one, with Haggar in the wrestling ring. I didn’t like the style of that one as much - it didn’t seem to fit. That’s when I adopted this pure Ryu animation that I have now.

This probably has been mentioned already but apparently the overpass stage in SFIV is based on a real area in Japan.

This also has me wondering about the stages in KOF12.

Talim’s stage Distant Marsh in SC4 is the Island of Mauritius or atleast inspired by the Island.

The only known island where the Dodo Bird appeared before being made extinct.

Might be obvious to some but still kind of quirky.

Paul T2 stage background is NYC. Yea i know obviously.

Southtown is basically NYC plus San Francisco…except it’s located in Florida.

Plus New York City actually still exists in the SNK universe(s).
…Yeah…

Southtown has to be by far the biggest and most diverse city in the world.

I wonder how often the chubby boy is actually there. :wonder:

He’s always there, and always dancing.

Asakusa Shrine is the location used for Hanzo’s stage in the 1992 smash hit World Heroes.
