Ready to PC game, the deal breaker

Hi guys,

I’ve all but secured a gaming PC, but since I’m a massive Tekken fan I need to know will my PS3 Madcatz TE stick work with my computer and Steam for Tekken 7? I can tell you all the computer specs if necessary, it’s Windows 10 and has ample power to play the best games.

I’ve heard there is support for PS4 sticks, but nothing mentions help for PS3. I’m good to go and buy my PC, but this is a major deal breaker. If I buy the computer and can’t get my stick to work then it’s a massive fail since I’m not gonna spend another £200 on a PS4 or Xbox stick to use. Some forums say a USB 3.0 port will work if I plug it in there, some say there is lag when it is working, everything is so conflicting and reminds me of why I’ve always been deterred to come to PC.

There has to be a way, doesn’t there?

If anyone can help me, please advise or point me in the right direction, there’s no point me buying this machine if not.

it will work, steam supports ps and xbox controllers.

Wow really? Plug and play and it will work?

I keep seeing everywhere that PS3 Madcatz does not work though…

@eyeamg0dly
To suffice your moniker (at least to accurately answer questions), you’ll need to research more.

@Tekken_Player

These threads are but a few surrounding the topic that you’re asking about.
The short answer to “will it the PS3 TE Round 1 work on your pc” is
it depends… how old is your puter? Does it use USB 3.0?

Bottom line: The PS3 TE pcb needs UHCI on the motherboard supported to function properly. UHCI is ancient. Most manufacturers don’t support that anymore.

it works. i play tekken on pc with all my sticks

te round 1, joytron exchanger, hitbox, rap4. and a custom with xinput. all of them work with 0 problems. with xinput i have to run a seperate program to browse the game menus, but no problems during actual play.

If I told you the full details of my pc, could you tell me? Don’t really wanna buy an expensive machine and have to buy parts and be opening the case of my tower up etc

That’s because you hit the jackpot with either an old ass board or a USB card that supports what I just mentioned. Just because it works in YOUR scenario doesn’t make it universal for the planet…

You typed out a list of specs on your puter and put them here? Including model numbers of your computer or its components?
::rubs eyes::
I must be going blind…

You have plenty of info that I shared. Why not start with that?

Sorry to ask you again, I’m not retarded honestly, but it’s of such high importance to me, do you just literally plug in your stick and it works? My pc has usb 3.0 whatever that means

And you mean PS3 round 1 TE?

This is my last post here because my head is starting to dent this wall.

Let me say this slowly…

The circuit board on the Mad Catz TE Round 1 for PS3 supports UHCI USB host controller protocols. This host controller, being ancient, is not used anymore—even by Intel (who created it). The motherboard in whatever computer you have/will buy needs to support UHCI. As that’s a significant rarity these days—the short answer is:

No, it most likely won’t work on your PC.

/thread

This pc has a usb 3.0 socket, does that mean it should
work?

Oh and thanks for your help, means a lot

damn relax man, im sorry i didnt know it was common knowledge that people have this problems with their TE. i guess im just the luckiest te owner in the world.

If you’ve finished banging your head against the wall, can you tell me would the MADCATZ ROUND 2 PS3 TE work? I should have told you I have the standard te and the second, but thought they were exactly the same

@jopamo I feel ya, I been in your shoes. But take a break
Nothing wrong with cutting your losses and washing your hands of a thread and leave it be.

As for the old Mad Catz PS3 SE and TE sticks. Those Sticks use a priority Intel USB Protocol called UHCI.
With a few rare exceptions and most of those pay licensing for it, Only Intel Chipsets on Intel compatible motherboards support UHCI.
Only USB 1.1 and 2.0 ports work with UHCI, USB 3.0, 3.1 and 3.2 are not backwards compatible with UHCI. In Computer terms, UHCI is now a Dinosaur, it is up there in incompatible legacy tech with SCSI Ports and Zip Drives.

First part of your question, It very, very unlikely a Mad Catz PS3 TE Round 2 would work with a Computer that came out in the last almost 6 years now.

Other than cosmetic differences, the only real difference between the First mad Catz PS3 TE and the Round 2 is that the Round 2 has a slightly better made PCB, it did not have a PCB that got soldered together by a 6th grader in a sweatshop. But over all Both sticks have terrible PCBs.

if you really want PC compatibility, ether get the PCB inside the Mad Catz PS3 TE replaced, or get a newer stick with Xinput support.
All the PS4 sticks except the newest of the Hori Hrap Sticks are backwards compatible with the PS3, and most have a dedicated Xinput supported PC mode.

@Tekken_Player No offense dude but you don’t seem very bright. Are you any good at Tekken? That guy answered your question like 3-4 times already. Why don’t you look at the PC you’re going to buy and see if it has UHCI. But like the laster poster said, it’s highly unlikely. Sheesh.

Well to buy a pc on the cheap and then have to buy an expensive ps4 stick is a fail, this type of stuff is what’s always put me off pc, think I’ll just forget it. And above poster, your post is unnecessary, I’m Suzaku rank on Tekken 7

Just replace the pcb

No one cares how good you are in Tekken here.

Combatability is just as big of an issue for consoles too, if not worse…

Like someone else said you can replace the pcb, you don’t have to buy a whole new stick.
