Rules:
- Don’t make any new threads unless we need it. Use existing threads when possible. There are already a Basics, Strategy, FAQ, and a Wishlist thread: it’s probably a great plan to discuss your throughts in there. Opening a new scrubby one that isn’t needed will get you infraction points. If it’s a technical thread, awesome. If it’s fanboy-related, maybe just put it in an existing thread. Watch http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B9q2jNjOPdk for guidance. When in doubt, it probably belongs in the General Discussion thread. For anything generally focused upon a specific character, you probably should put that in their specific subforum.
2a) If you are new, act like you would in real life if you were meeting new people or otherwise joining a new community. That means that you should be listening more than you are talking. You should not be diverting or derailing technical threads. You should not attack other people’s technical expertise (nor should they attack yours because you will not be asserting yourself as a know-it-all expert). Questioning things and trying to understand them is a most excellent plan, but don’t be lazy: read up first and try to fill in blanks as opposed to have someone spoonfeed you. You should likely not be posting more than once in any given thread in ten minutes unless you’re making some really great contributions. If you come in running your mouth and/or insulting people and/or derailing things, you will be infracted. If you do it a lot, you’ll be banned for a week so you can calm down. If you keep doing it, you’re gone. We totally love you and want to talk games with you, but just like in any new community you might join: show some social skills if you want to stick around.
2b) If you are not new, be nice to the noobs! We were all new once. We build the next generation of SRK by letting the newer people grow and flourish. Either ignore people, put them on actual Ignore, or PM a mod. Attacking noobs is like kicking kids: sure it’s easy but it’s just not really productive. And even though you are “not” new, remember that you certainly don’t know everything: listen to each other people and try to explain, not attack, through differences of opinion or knowledge. Issues met with anger tend to lead to more anger and lameness.
3.) The “NEW information ONLY” thread is not for discussion, and posting in it without new confirmed info, screens, or video will get you infraction points.
4.) Wishlists and character speculation all go into the [wishlist/speculation thread]('The Wishlist and Speculation Thread. Ver.2 Having a desire does not qualify you to open a new thread. EDIT: The wishlist thread was destroyed from space. Sorry. Take it to GameFAQs, I guess.
5.) If someone opens an obviously rule-breaking thread, and you decide to reply to it for any reason, you are doing so at your own risk (you’ll get a 1 point “adding a post of no value” infraction). Let these threads die. This includes replying to tell someone they are breaking the rules, or saying in-before-the-lock or any such garbage.
6.) Do you love/hate MvC3? Do you love/hate MvC2? Open a new thread about it and see how quickly you get an infraction. We have a lovely [thread]('The “I Hate MvC3”, “I Love MvC3”, “I Hate MvC2”, and “I Love MvC2” Thread just for your rants about the game you are dying to love/hate.
7.) Any trolling, flaming, or flamebaiting/taunting will get an automatic ban. If you have a beef with someone, put them on Ignore. If you don’t and you get into flame wars with them, you will be infracted. All parties of any flamewar will be banned. No exceptions. Don’t even tell someone that they’re being lame or trolling: just point it out to the mod and let us deal with it. If you start attacking them yourself, feeding the troll, you will likely be infracted too. Don’t be trolled. ProTip: If you only want THEM to be infracted, point out the ugliness to a mod and let them take care of it. If you take it into your own hands, you’re risking bannination. Keep the forum focused on MvC3.
If we work together, we can keep a clean, organized forum that’s easy to browse and find information in.
