so ive been playing my friends alot lately and can beat every character they play really easily with dudley but two of them main rog and i just cant seem to win at all. after reading the matchup thread i put up a much better fight and the matches usually go 3 rounds but i cant seem to seal the victory, his jabs just own me. any help is much appreciated.
If you are in jab range, back off. The spam will beat you unless you already have frame advantage.
You just have to be patient, hold a lot of down + back, and look for when you can score a knockdown. This match becomes much less of a headache when you have the wake up/mix up options. When you are both standing there isn’t much you can do but keep Standing FP/ F+FP at the ready to beat/trade with rush punches, and keep your eyes out for punish opportunities like a hawk. Just make sure not to spam FP too much if they have meter because of EX rush punch, and stay just out of sweep range.
Some people recommend blocking high most of the time unless you are in sweep range. On the basis that it is much better to eat a low rush punch than get caught on the overhead for the full combo from Rog. This match felt impossible to me at first, but now it isn’t so bad, it is just boring =/
